MEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY
Lesson Outline
I. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of media
and information literacy (MIL) and MIL related concepts.
A. Performance Standard: The learner organizes a creative and interactive symposium for
the community focusing on being a media and literate individual.

2. Identify the similarities and differences between and among media literacy,
information literacy, and technology literacy
3. Discuss responsible use of media and information
4. Explain how the evolution of media from traditional to new media shaped
the values and norms of people and society
5. Compare and contrast how one particular issue or news is presented
through the different types of media (print, broadcast, online)
6. Contrast indigenous media to the more common sources of information
such as library, internet, etc.
7. Present an issue in varied ways to disseminate information using the codes,
convention, and language of media
8. Cite practical situation when to apply knowledge in intellectual property,
copy right, and fair use guidelines
9. Create a campaign add to combat digital divide, addiction, and bullying
II. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding of different resources of media
and information, their design principle and elements, and selection criteria.
A. Performance Standard: The learner produces a living museum or electronic portfolio or
any other creative forms of multimedia showcasing their / his/her understanding, insights,
and perceptions of the different resources of media and information.

weaknesses, and kinds of quantitative research, the importance of quantitative research across
fields, and the nature of variables
a. Performance Standard: The learners should be able to decide on suitable
quantitative research in different areas of interest
i. Describe characteristics, strengths, weaknesses, and kinds of quantitative
research
ii. Illustrate the importance of quantitative research across fields
iii. Differentiate kinds of variables and their uses
Content Standard: The learners demonstrate understanding of the range of research topics in the
area of inquiry, the value of research in the area of interest, and the specificity and feasibility of the
problem posed.
i. Performance Standard: The learners should be able to formulate clearly the
statement of research problem
ii. Designs a research used in daily life
iii. Writes a research title
iv. Describes background of research
v. States research questions
vi. Indicates scope and delimitation of study

Content Standard: The learners demonstrate understanding of the formulation of conceptual
framework, the research hypotheses (if appropriate), and the definition of terms as used in the
study.
Performance Standard: The learners should be able to formulate clearly conceptual
framework, research hypotheses (if appropriate), define terms used in study, and present
objectively written review of related literature and conceptual framework.
