DAY WISE REPORT

UNIT NO: 24

DAY:01

DATE: 29.01.2024

School of Engineering’s National Service Scheme Unit No. 24 organized a one-week


Special camp for II year B.E.Computer Science Engineering students from 29.01.2024 to
04.02.2024 in the Adopted village at Dhaliyur. 59 student volunteers of II B.E.CSE were
associated with Ms. K.Divya, Programme Officer, Unit 24 along with the Assistant
Programme Officer Dr. T.Mekala.

On 29.01.2024, the volunteers and the Programme officers reached the adopted
village, Dhaliyur at 9.45 a.m. After reaching the village, the inauguration ceremony was
prepared by the volunteers. The inauguration ceremony started with a prayer song by Ms.
Sherlyn Samuel II B.E CSE and a welcome speech by Ms. Sathya Sree. Then, Ms.Chithriya
disseminated the one-week camp schedule. It was followed by a special address given by
Mrs. Latha, Head Mistress of the s Panchat Union Primary School, Dhaliyur who shared her
experience and interacted with the Volunteers followed by Mrs. Niraimathi, tutor of the
school, who shared her thoughts about her working experience. The programme was
concluded with a vote of thanks conveyed by Ms.Nithya.

During the afternoon session, the volunteers were split into teams to conduct the
village survey to identify the literacy rate in the village and the results were consolidated by
the Volunteers. Through the survey, it was found that there are no dropouts from the school,
but the first-graduate ratio is high.

DAY: 02

DATE: 30.01.2024

The Second day started withan awareness rally on Swach Bharat and its
importance. It was followed by the Sarvodaya Day celebration. Mr. Ramasamy, PTA head
was the chief guest of the function. The session started with the welcome note given by Ms.
Subha Shree of II B.E .CSE. During the Sarvodhaya address, Mr. Ramasamy narrated the
importance of observing the Sarvodaya day on 30th January. He insisted the students spend
more time with books instead of digital screens. He also added that being young minds it is a
must for them to learn and follow moral and ethical values. Students were informed to set
their specific goals to lead their lives in a meaningful way. The event was concluded with a
vote of thanks conveyed by Dr. Mekala.

In the afternoon session, students were actively involved in the preparation of the
teaching aids, and also they interacted with the primary school students and entertained them
through puzzles and fun activities like tongue twisters, spell bees, etc. All children involved
in this activity were enjoyed it fully and also the activities very useful in improving their
knowledge and creativity skills.

DAY: 03

DATE: 31.01.2024

The third day started with the Moral stories taught by the volunteers through
role play. The volunteers split themselves into teams, totally there were 10 teams. The
children were asked to find out their moral values, students who answered were rewarded
with a small gift. The children listened to all the role plays keenly and answered very
promptly.

During the afternoon session, various activities like Spoken English classes, drawing,
colouring, yoga, and karate. School students have involved themselves very actively. Fine
arts of the school students were rewarded with a small gift.

DATE: 01.02.2024

The Fourth day started with the cleaning activities. NSS Volunteers cleaned
the school surroundings and the provisional store area in the adopted village. Stories. The
volunteers split themselves into teams, for handling the Spoken English classes for the school
students. The children were taught the small conversation practice. The children participated
actively

During the afternoon session, an awareness programme on climatic change was
conducted by Dr.Pappa Ammal, Eco Club In-charge, School of Engineering. During the
session, schoolchildren promised that they should not use plastic and dispose of the waste
properly. In this regard, there was a painting competition conducted on the theme “Save
Nature”, Students were actively involved and the winner Mr. Adhikesavan, V std, was
awarded a small memento.

DAY: 05

DATE: 02.02.2024

The Fifth day started with the tree plantation. NSS Volunteers planted the
saplings in and around the school compound.The session as followed by the origami class
school students were involved actively and they made paper hundial, butterflies and
sparrows. Then the various competitions were conducted for the school students such as
music chair, lucky corner, ball passing, ball collecting and painting.

During the afternoon session,students prepared for the valedictory function. Mr.
Ramasamy, PTA head, Dhaliyur graced the valedictory function by his presence. In the
valedictory address he taught the life skills through Tamils epics and poems. Students were
much inspired by the stories he shared. After the valedictory address, Winners from the
school were honoured by the prizes. School children were very happy with the prizes.
Mr.Ramasamy, congratulated the UNIT 24 students for their meticulous work during the
period of 5 days, he acknowledged the service rendered by our university NSS team right
from the early years.

DAY: 06

DATE: 03.02.2024

In connection with the wild life celebration day, unit 24 students visited the
Ponnuthu Hills, and witnessed the natural reservoir along with the forest rangers. They came
to know the life style and the habitats of the wild animals. Then, they visited to the Ponnuthu
Amman temple and cleaned the temple surroundings and also cleaned the water reservoirs.
Students admired the atmosphere and the natural water sources. In the afternoon, Students
met the nearby village people and interacted with them and exited about their experience with
the wild animals. They came to know the difficulties of the farmers who are situated at the
mountain borders.

DATE: 04.02.2024

The Seventh day started with the awareness and demo session on Fire Safety by
Mr. Kannan.N, Shakthi Fire Control, Coimbatore. Mr. Kannan started the demo session by
narrating the classifications of fire and the types of fire extinguishers to be used for that.
Students asked their doubts and it was clearly clarified by him. After that, a mock fire was
created and the students were demonstrated to put off the fire by using the fire extinguishers.
Then he informed the details of the chemicals used inside the cylinders to put off the fire.
Students were actively participated in the demo session.

In the afternoon, students involved themselves in the campus cleaning activity. They
cleaned the common areas such as auditorium, foyer, corridors and the pathways. After the
cleaning activity, students promised not to litter anywhere.
