1 Introduction
Release Date: September, 19th, 2017.
Version 2.0.0.44 has been developed and fixed to be compliant to the latest regulations and
to improve software and its stability. These release notes give an overview of the bugs and
improvements that have been done from version 1.1.1.17 until 2.0.0.44
Please note that this document gives only an overview of changes and it is recommended to
refer to the latest version of User Manual for details.
1
2 Release Version 2.0.0.44
The current version of the eGlobe G2 was released in September 2017.
2.1 New Features and Functions
This section gives an overview of all new features and functions that have been implemented in
eGlobe G2 2.0.0.44
2.1.1 MOB Button
Man overboard button is implemented with the possibility to hide it in sailing mode.
2.1.2 CATZOC in Route Check
Depths in the chart which are intersecting with the XTD of a route-leg are checked with
CATZOC. The CATZOC in the route check takes the inaccuracy into account, which each
depth value in the chart has regarding the measuring procedure.
2.1.3 Change AIS Status inside the eGlobe
Now the latest eGlobe G2 does not only take the AIS-data for the own ship from the AIS-
receiver. It also gives the opportunity to change the own ship AIS-data inside the eGlobe.
2.1.4 Deactivation of AIS targets
Each single AIS target can be deactivated by right click on the target. Moreover all targets
outside the activation range can be deactivated at once.
2.1.5 Anchor watch
The Anchor watch function can be activated while clicking on own ship. A radius and position
can be defined. When the ship touches the circle a warning will raise.
2.1.6 BAM-Bridge Alert Management compatibility
The interface to the BAM is implemented. Hence it will be possible to quit alerts on a central
station of the bridge, without confirming the alert on the generating unit.
2
2.1.7 Radar Overlay
Radar overlay option in the traffic menu enables the user to verify ECDIS data with the radar
on one unit. Position failures can be detected much easier with this feature and improves
the safe navigation. Gain and transparency can be controlled inside the eGlobe. The
functionality is available in case a radar signal is available from the external device via
ASTERIX CAT-240 protocol supplied over LAN1 Ethernet interface.
2.1.8 Navtex Area Filter
When a new Navtex message with a position meeting the set criteria (distance from own
ship, distance from active and planned route) the Chart Loader button will turn yellow to
indicate new message relevant to voyage.
2.1.9 Dangeours Object Indication in Planning Mode
While planning a route, detected dangerous objects are directly indicated irrespective of
chart settings.
2.1.10 Line of Position- Change in User interface
EP is removed, 2 LOPs gives a fixed position plot
2.1.11 Range Rings
Range rings can be shown if radar overlay function is active
2.1.12 New Alert Introduced Named “Caution”
A caution will not generate a sound and an entry in the alert management list will be made.
2.1.13 New Top Message
Whenever an alert is acknowledged and the highlight of its danger disappears the message
“Danger highlight suppressed for acknowledged alerts” will pop up on the top of the display.
2.1.14 New Info label “Selected Waypoint”
Now a waypoint can be selected and time and distance information will be visible for the
user. This allows an better route monitoring and ETA planning.
3
2.2 Improvements
2.2.1 Alarm Display Window
An Alarm overview list in available permanently. Texts improved for better intuitive usage
2.2.2 Warning Sounds
The sound for warnings will be two beeps to distinguish between warning and alarm
2.2.3 Displaying of Permanent Indications
While several indications are active they are arranged in a not disturbing way so that a good
visibility of the information on the chart is ensured.
2.2.4 Removing target related alerts
ARPA and AIS-Target related alerts are raised by radar already so they should not be
repeated by ECDIS. Hence this opportunity is removed in this version. Settings for dangerous
targets criteria are still available (CPA,TCPA) and used to highlight dangerous AIS and ARPA
target in red colour.
2.2.5 Performance in Planning Mode
Performance during route planning improved
2.2.6 Alert Management
Alert management has been changed to meet IMO MSC.302(87) requirements for Bridge
Alarm Management. Please refer to User Manual for details.
2.2.7 Turning Radius Check
The turning radius is taken into account for the route check. Planned routes with too small
space for turning the ship, will be marked as unsafe. For that a “turning radius” must be
entered into the route.
4
2.2.8 Additional AIS Messages
Additional AIS Messages are incorporated (AtonS, SAR etc). Please refer to User Manual for
details.
2.2.9 Route Check Visualization
Dangerous objects can be displayed after the route check.
2.2.10 Save Screenshot
The Screenshot will be confirmed with a message on the display.
2.2.11 Master Backup Synchronisation
Settings will be ported from higher rank unit (master) to lower rank after a shut off.
2.2.12 Bearing in AIS Target Context Menu
This information is now shown with 4 digits i.e. 215.7°.
2.2.13 Restructuring of Replay Mode
The complete Writing, Streaming and Reading have been renewed for a better performance.
2.2.14 Additional NAVTEX Position Formats
Some positions were not detected because of non-standard formats. Now new formats are
included.
2.2.15 Alert Button
The icon of the “View Alert” Button is now corresponding with the first entry in the alert list.
5
2.3 Error Fixes
2.3.1 Network synchronization: Status of User charts transmission
Activating the user chart on one station did not activate the user chart on the other station.
Now, creating a user chart on one station and save it results in synchronizing the user chart
towards the other station correctly.
2.3.2 Update failure for ACES installations
The products.txt was not recognized when dealing with ACES.
2.3.3 Distance check AIS targets
Distance check did not process AIS targets.
2.3.4 AIS targets: COG vector orientation wrong
The velocity vector is now aligned to the COG value.
2.3.5 Past trails
Are now shown correctly.
2.3.6 Profile settings & default control settings profile change
More profile settings can be saved.
2.3.7 Pick Report on Past Track
It is now showing the relevant information about the ship movement i.e. SOG, COG.
2.3.8 Route Naming
Naming routes with symbols like * or \ was causing problems. Now routes can be named
with letters and numbers only.
6
2.3.9 Zipping of Replay Files
All parts of a replay file are now zipped during exporting and unzipped if they are imported
via File Manager.
2.3.10 ERP Function removed
