A. What is Article Writing?

An article is a written work published in a print/electronic medium. An article is a

audience on a particular topic or subject. The main objective to write an article is to
make some changes to the world by presenting facts, statistics, or views.
Different Types of Articles

Expository Article- It is the most common type of article, which allows the writer to
publicize or propagate the information on any particular topic without the influence of
their opinions.
Argumentative Article- It is an article in which the author poses a problem or an
issue, provides a solution, and arguments to support why their suggestions/solutions
are right.

to accept the ideas or views of the writer.

B. Article Writing Format

To write a perfect article, one should have in-depth knowledge about the topic to
deliver 100% information regarding the product, services, brands, etc.
The article writing format is given below.
The format of an article consists of the following parts:
1. Heading / Title
2. By Line
3. Body (the main part of the article, 3-4 paragraphs)
4. Conclusion (Ending paragraph of the article with the opinion or
recommendation, anticipation or an appeal)
Title: The title stands as the initial point of contact for readers, and it should be
captivating, pertinent, and convey the article’s theme. It’s often advisable to create a
working title initially and refine it after completing the article to ensure it accurately
represents the content.
Introduction: The introduction serves as your chance to captivate your readers and
provide them with a concise preview of what the article entails. A compelling
introduction should be succinct and encapsulate the core of the subject matter.
Body: This constitutes the core of your article, where you supply detailed
information, present your arguments, and substantiate your assertions. To structure
the body of your article effectively, consider the following:
Paragraphs: Segment your content into paragraphs, with each one concentrating on a
distinct idea or point. Initiate a new paragraph whenever you switch to a fresh topic or
subtopic.
Subheadings: Employ subheadings to break down your article into sections or
subsections, making it simpler for readers to navigate and locate information.
Supporting Evidence and Examples: Reinforce your claims with supporting
evidence, statistics, real-life instances, or expert viewpoints. This bolsters the
credibility of your article.
2

Transition Sentences: Employ transitional words and phrases to guide readers

through your content smoothly. These help establish connections between ideas and
maintain the article’s flow.
Conclusion: Recapitulate the key points you’ve addressed in the body of the article.
The conclusion should provide closure and leave a lasting impact on the reader,
avoiding the introduction of new information.
Call to Action (if applicable): If your article aims to persuade or encourage readers
to take action, include a distinct call to action at the conclusion. This may be a
suggestion, recommendation, or an invitation to explore related content.
References (if applicable): In cases where you’ve cited external sources, create a list
of citations or a bibliography following a consistent citation style (e.g., APA, MLA,
Chicago) at the conclusion of your article.
Author Bio (optional): When appropriate, you can incorporate a brief author bio at
the end of the article. This may encompass your name, qualifications, and a concise
description of your expertise.
Images and Media (if applicable): If your article benefits from visual aids, such as
images, charts, or videos, be sure to include them within the body of the article where
they are most pertinent. Ensure that you provide captions and credit sources
appropriately.
Proofreading and Editing: Before publishing your article, meticulously proofread
and edit it for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and coherence. Guarantee that it
maintains a smooth flow and a consistent tone.
Formatting: Ensure that your article adheres to the formatting requirements of the
platform where it will be published. This encompasses aspects like font, line spacing,
and any specific style guidelines.

It’s that time of year again! Lots of expense, your patience tried to its utmost limits
thanks to being in such close proximity to your family, over-eating and over-drinking
- perhaps overindulging generally - receiving presents you don’t really want and
seeing relatives you don’t really want to see. They get wheeled out every year for a

free meal and a sherry and drive you mad with their complaints. How to avoid all
this? Do something different - go on holiday and let someone else take the strain.

2. TITLE:

The oldest known disease to man, and the first to be identified, is on the increase. It is
now prevalent in twenty-four countries, and still doctors are unsure what causes
leprosy. There is a general consensus that it could be contracted through the
respiratory system, but as yet there is no solid evidence. On the other hand, it could be
spread by touch. Leprosy is curable if detected in the early stages, but what are the
symptoms?

3. TITLE:
____________________________________________________________________
Dieting seems to have become a way of life for many people, particularly women. It
is said that at any one time three out of four people are on a diet, convinced that this is
the magic formula, and that they will finally look like that model on the television
they so envy. What they do not seem to realise is that they might well lose weight but
will inevitably put it all back on - often more weight than they lost in the first place.
The whole exercise is futile, and people never seem to realise that to lose weight
permanently, one needs to change one’s entire eating lifestyle.

D. Write your article. (About 250 words.) on the following .

We are a popular tabloid newspaper and would like to receive articles from students
to see how they have reacted to the decision made by their university to get rid of

work. How do you feel about this? We want to hear from you. Is it a good or a bad
idea? OR
The Times newspaper has asked the public to contribute articles for a series in their
Sunday magazine supplement. If we make a concerted effort to conserve energy,
could we live without electricity? They wish to receive your views and opinions on
this subject. What do YOU think life would be like with no electricity?
