NATIONAL LEARNING CAMP
NARRATIVE REPORT
GRADE THREE READING AND MATHEMATICS INTERVENTION

The National Learning Camp ( NLC) is a program of the Department of Education that helps struggling
learners and those eager to strengthen their knowledge by enhancing what they have learned during the previous
school year. It was created to offer a wide variety of enrichment and intervention activities for learners to
maximize learning outcomes over the summer break for the school year 2023-2024. With these, Maddiangat
Elementary School particularly the Grade 3, being the teacher, abides and finds a way to execute the program.
Our very supportive school principal Madam Sandra S. Dela Cruz took the initiative to organize an orientation
with the teachers and the stakeholders on the first day of the implementation. Our school principal sees to it that
all the necessary materials, records and including the classrooms are ready before the start of the camp. There
are 10 grade 3 learners listed for reading and mathematics intervention.

During the first week of the camp, all the learners were excited. The teacher started the days with
engaging activities like dances, games, and puzzles to keep the learners vibrant and away from boredom. The
teacher prepared fun learning activities and it was fulfilling that the learners improved every day. Being in the
intervention camp we can’t deny the fact that they were far behind, as an effective intervention for this, they
have one-on-one teaching. To encourage the everyday attendance of the learners, we seek the help of our
stakeholders for the snacks of every learner.

Some issues and concerns were encountered during the implementation of the National Learning Camp
(NLC) and to name some are 1. Attendance of pupils was affected due to sickness and no support from parents.
2. Lessons from reading consolidation grade 3 were not carried out because, for the first week, they let us use
the materials intended for grade one intervention.

The National Learning Camp was a transformative experience for both the learners and teachers
involved. As a teacher, I am immensely proud to be a part of this educational program and witnessed the
positive impact it had on the lives of the learners. I am confident that they will carry the lessons learned and the
skills acquired into their future endeavors to make a difference in their communities and the world at large.
