a) 1N
b) 15N
c) 10N
d) 5N
5. If A and B are two objects with masses 10 kg and 30 kg respectively then:
a. A has more inertia than B
b. B has more inertia than A

For Q.9 to Q.11 read the assertion and reason statements carefully and mark the correct option out of the
following options
a. Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of the A
a. Both A and R are true but R is not the correct explanation of the A
b. A is true but R is false
c. A is false but R is true
9. Assertion : A quick collision between two bodies is more violent than a slow collision, even when the
initial and the final velocities are identical.
Reason : Because the rate of change of momentum which determines the force is greater in the first case.
10. Assertion : A colloidal solution is a heterogeneous mixture.
Reason : Colloidal particles are big enough to scatter light.
11. Assertion : Sclerenchyma fibres constitute the major mechanical tissue of the plants.
Reason : The cells are thick walled and are made up of lignin
12. Case Study Based Questions
Tyndall effect is a phenomenon based on the scattering of light and is named after an Irish Physicist
John Tyndall. When a beam of light is passed through a colloidal solution, where the size of the
constituent particles is comparable to that of the wavelength of the light beam, the beam of light is
scattered in such a way that its path or trajectory becomes visible. This phenomenon of scattering of
light making its path visible is termed as the Tyndall effect.
glass A glass B glass C
1. Which glass will show the Tyndall effect?
2. Identify the odd one out on the basis of Tyndall effect- Copper Sulphate Solution, Ink In Water, Jelly
and Fog
3. Does the Tyndall effect be seen in true solutions? Justify your response.
