SYRINGE PUMP (Perfusor® compact), single

This document is a reminder only; it does not replace the user
manual. Read the manual to fully familiarise yourself with the
equipment.
ATTENTION: This machine can dispense dangerous drugs. Check
your calculations with the medical supervisor before
administering medications to patients.
A Prepare and position the syringe
Prepare the dilution of the drug for the syringe according Power button
1 to the doctor’s prescription.
• Dilute the medication in accordance with the
prescription, using the example in section [B].
• Draw the solution into the syringe as required (20 ml or
50 ml).
• Connect the patient tube to the tip of the syringe and
remove the air in the tube
Turn on the equipment and wait until the self-test has
2 completed. Open the syringe holder and unlock the drive Drive unit & locking tab
unit by pushing the white tab in the direction of the arrow. Syringe holder & fixing arm
Then pull to extend the drive unit to the length of the Syringe 50ml BBraun
syringe.
Insert the syringe in the holder and close the fixing arm:
3 • For syringes of 50ml B|Braun, use the left-hand
positioner.
• For syringes of 20ml Terumo, use the right-hand Left-hand positioner
positioner. Syringe 20ml Terumo
WARNING: Only use the following syringes ; 50 ml from
B|Braun and 20ml from Terumo, as described above.
Other syringes/methods may not empty the syringe (so do
not give the correct dosage), or may risk that the alarms

will not work.
You will hear a “click” which indicates that the drive unit is
4 locked and has detected the presence of a syringe. Close
the syringe holder fixing arm. The capacity of the syringe
should appear on the screen and none of the screen
elements should be flashing.

B Programme the syringe pump
There are two parameters which must be programmed:
- The rate in ml/h
- The total quantity to be administered in ml Rate calculation
Rate to be calculated:
Convert the doctor’s prescription (administration time +
1 quantity) into the device parameters (rate + quantity)
= X ml in 60 min (1h)
Given in the doctor’s
Example :
prescription :
• Doctor’s prescription
= 50 ml in 150 min (2h30)
quantity = 2mg of “drug A” diluted in 50ml.
temps = 2h30min
X ml → 60 min
• Parameters to programme
50 ml → 150 min
rate = to be calculated
X = 50 x (60 / 150) = 20 ml
total quantity = 50ml
WARNING: Verify your calculations with the medical Rate = 20 ml / h
supervisor before programming the device. Configuration
instructions below are based on the example calculation
above. Make sure you use the values from your own
calculation for programming the device!
2 Configure the parameters
Rate : On the display ml/h should be displayed in the
bottom right. Rate:
N.B : if the screen shows « OPS » (50ml B|Braun ) or « -20 »
(20ml Terumo) then press the F button to go to the
programming screen.
Enter the desired rate (for the example : 20 ml/h) using the
following combination:
2 then 0 The rate will be shown on the screen.
To change the desired rate (for example 30 ml/h) :
C then 3 then 0 The new rate will be shown Quantity:
Quantity: Press F then 2 / |ml
The following will be display in the bottom right |ml
Using the keyboard enter the total quantity you want (for
example : 50 ml) using the following combination :
5 then 0 The quantity will be shown on the screen
To change the total quantity desired (for example 60 ml)
C then 6 then 0 The new quantity will be shown
Press F to confirm.
The main screen will appear again showing the rate which
has been programmed.

C Start the equipment
Start administering the treatment
1 After programming the syringe pump as described in
section [B], and with the device displaying the main screen,
press the “Start/Stop” button.
The wheel in the top left of the screen will start to turn to
indicate that the administration of the drug is ongoing.
2 BOLUS mode :
If you need to increase the flow rate for a short time you
can use the bolus function.
• Press F then BOL and the display will show the
pre-programmed bolus rates (ml/h)
• Then press first F then simultaneously press BOL
and keep the two depressed. The bolus will start at the
rate previously displayed. An audible signal will be
given for each ml.
• When you release one of the two buttons the bolus will stop
and normal rate of administration will resume.
WARNING: Take care not to overdose!
Given a rate of 800 ml / h, a bolus of 0.22 ml will be given in just
one second!
