ABSTRACT
Abstract is a summary of the whole Practical Training report. The abstract should have
summary of every chapter in the report. This abstract then need to be translated to
Bahasa Melayu in the next section (Abstrak). The abstract should not exceed 500
words and is written in one (1) paragraph only. Generally, the contents of abstract in
English tend to have less words than the contents for Abstrak in Bahasa Melayu.
ABSTRACT SHOULD BE THE LAST THING TO BE WRITTEN IN EVERY
REPORT. Starting to write a report from abstract means that the report will never
finish.

Abstrak ialah satu bentuk penulisan yang merumuskan keseluruhan laporan Latihan
Praktik ini dalam Bahasa Melayu. Abstrak perlu mengandungi rumusan dari setiap bab
dalam laporan ini. Abstrak ini merupakan terjemahan kepada kandungan dalam
bahagian sebelum ini, iaitu Abstract dalam Bahasa Inggeris. Panjang abstrak haruslah
tidak melebihi 500 patah perkataan, dan ditulis dalam satu (1) perenggan sahaja.
Secara umumnya, kandungan abstrak dalam Bahasa Melayu akan lebih panjang dari
kandungan abstract dalam Bahasa Inggeris.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1. Introduction
This Practical Training Guideline serves as a guide for Practical Training students to
correctly format their Practical Training Report. Many students face difficulties in
properly apply the desired formatting as provided in the previous Practical Training
Guideline, thus an updated Guideline and Template is created to relieve the confusion
of proper Practical Training Report formats.
From 2021 onwards (until a new guideline/template is updated) this Practical Training
Report Guideline in .pdf and Practical Training Report Template in .dotx formats are
provided to students and supervisors.
This Practical Training Report Guideline and the Practical Training Report Template
are already formatted based on the formatting specifications to serve as reference for
students when they are preparing their Practical Training Report.
Download the Practical Training Report Template file (in .dotx format) from
the Google Site for CSC339 UiTM Sarawak Branch (https://sites.google.com/

Open the Practical Training Report Template file (in .dotx format) in
Microsoft Office Word only.
Save the file using a suitable name at suitable location on your computer (e.g.
the desktop) and the template is ready for use.

1.2. Preparing Practical Training Report using the Template in Microsoft
Office Word
The provided Practical Training Report Template in .dotx format make use of the
Navigation Pane, Headings and Styles features available in Microsoft Office Word to
help students with formatting texts and paragraphs in their Practical Training Report.
The provided Practical Training Report Template also make use of other automated
features available in Microsoft Office Word, such as automatic Table of Content
generation based on headings and subheadings, automatic List of Tables generation
based on table captions, etc.
Students are advised to open the provided Practical Training Report Template in .dotx
format using Microsoft Office Word. The .dotx format was developed, optimised and
maintained by Microsoft to utilise all features available in Microsoft Office Word
software. The use of other software (such as WPS Office) to open the .dotx file may
cause some formatting issues as not all software can replicate all features and
functionalities of Microsoft Office Word. All UiTM students are provided a Microsoft
account to legally install and use all software in the Microsoft 365 suite, including
Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office Excel and Microsoft PowerPoint.
Students can use the Navigation Pane to quickly navigate throughout their Practical
Training Report based on the headings and subheadings. To display the Navigation
Pane, as shown at the left side of Figure 1.1, tick the “Navigation Pane” checkbox
under the View Tab of Microsoft Office Word. The headings and subheadings that
appear in the Navigation Pane will also be listed in the Table of Contents when students
update the table of content list.

Students can use the Styles Pane to quickly change the format of the texts in their
Practical Training Report. To display the Styles Pane, as shown at the right side of
Figure 1.2, click the small arrow at the “Styles” group under the Home Tab of
Microsoft Office Word.

To help with advanced formatting and layout tasks, use the show/hide formatting
marks. Figure 1.3 shows how to show/hide the formatting marks in Microsoft Office
Word.

CHAPTER 2: FORMATTING THE PRACTICAL TRAINING
REPORT
Microsoft Office Word should be used for preparing the Practical Training Report.
The Practical_Training_Report_Template.dotx is provided to be used as the main
template for students to prepare their Practical Training Report.
All final copies of the Practical Training Report should be printed using laser printer
for quality printing.
As a general guideline, the Practical Training Report should not exceed 20,000 words,
excluding appendices.
The page setup for the Practical Training Report should be of A4 size (210mm ×
297mm), with portrait orientation.
Margin specifications are meant to facilitate binding and trimming. The stipulated
margins for the Practical Training Report are
Top: 3.0cm
Bottom: 3.0cm
Left: 4.0cm
Right: 2.5cm

All information including the text headings, footnotes and illustrations should be
within these margins.
Students should prepare their Practical Training Report according to the formats
specified in the Practical Training Report Guideline.
2.4.1. Typeface
The entire text of the Practical Training Report, including headings and page numbers,
should be of the same typeface. Times New Roman should consistently be used
throughout the Practical Training Report.
The normal texts in the Practical Training Report should be of size 12 points. The
Practical Training Template will automatically apply these formatting when the “C
Body Texts” style is applied from the Styles Pane. Texts should not be scripted or
italicised except for
Scientific names,
Terms in different language, and
Quotations.
Headings and subheadings are subsections of the Practical Training Report. All
Headings and subheadings should be numbered, except for the headings of the
preliminaries and closing sections of the Practical Training Report

Headings of the preliminaries and closing sections of the Practical Training Report is
not numbered. The text for Headings should be in ALL UPPERCASE, bold and font
size of 14 points. The Practical Training Template will automatically apply these
formatting when the “B Preliminaries Heading” style is applied from the Styles Pane.
Headings of the main body (chapters) of the Practical Training Report should be
numbered as chapters, like “CHAPTER 1, CHAPTER 2, CHAPTER 3, ...”. The text
for Headings should be in ALL UPPERCASE, bold and font size of 14 points. The
Practical Training Template will automatically apply these formatting and number all
chapters when the “Heading 1” style is applied from the Styles Pane.
Subheadings are subsections under a heading. Subheadings are mainly used in the
main body (chapter) section of the report to subdivide a chapter into smaller
subsections. The text for subheading should be in “Capitalise Each Word” case, bold
and font size of 12 points. The Practical Training Template will automatically apply
these formatting and number all chapters when the “Heading 2”, “Heading 3” or
“Heading 4” style is applied from the Styles Pane.
2.4.4. Paragraphs
New paragraphs at the bottom of a page must have at least two (2) full lines of text; if
not, it should begin on the next page. By default, Microsoft Office Word will
automatically make sure that paragraphs at the bottom of a page have at least two (2)
lines of text.
2.4.5. Spacing
Use 1.5-line spacing between lines and 2-line spacing between paragraphs. The
following, however, should be single-spaced.
Explanatory footnotes
Quotations longer than three (3) lines in a block
Reference or bibliography (expect between entries)
Multi-line captions (table and figure captions)

Appendices, such as questionnaires, letters.
The Practical Training Template will automatically apply these spacings when the
appropriate style is applied from the Styles Page.
2.4.6. Pagination
Pagination refers to the numbering of every page of the Practical Training Report.
Page numbers should be centred, about 2.0cm from the bottom edge of the page. The
position of the page numbers should be consistent throughout the Practical Training
Report. Page numbers must not be punctuated, bracketed, hyphenated nor
accompanied by any decorative devices.
All pages of the main body (chapter) and closing sections (references, appendices, etc.)
should be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ...).

2.4.7. Notes and footnotes
Footnotes, if at all necessary, should be kept to a minimum. The font size for notes and
footnotes should be of size 8 points.
Tables must be properly centred on the page within the page margins specified in
Section 2.3.1. Each table should have a reference number (in Arabic numeral) and a
caption. The table number is used to identify the table throughout the Practical
Training Report and so that the table caption appears in the List of Tables section. The
table caption should describe the purpose of the table.
Table numbering should be in the format of Table 1.1, Table 1.2, etc. in Chapter 1;
Table 2.1, Table 2.2, etc. in Chapter 2; and so on. The first number indicates the chapter
in the main body (chapter), while the second number is consecutive numbers that
should restart at 1 for every chapter. Tables in Appendices does not need to be
numbered, but must have table caption.
The table number and caption should appear above the table. If a table is taken from
another source, the reference must be cited properly at the bottom of the table.
Table 2.1 shows an example of how a table and table caption should appear in the
Practical Training Report.
Figures may be illustrations, graphs, maps, charts, diagrams, photos, etc. In fact,
anything that is neither scripted nor table. A figure should not normally extend beyond
one (1) page.
Figures must be properly centred on the page within the page margins specified in
Section 2.3.1. Each figure should have a reference number (in Arabic numeral) and a
caption. The figure number is used to identify the figure throughout the Practical

Training Report and so that the figure caption appears in the List of Figures section.
The figure caption should describe the purpose of the figure.
Figure numbering should be in the format of Figure 1.1, Figure 1.2, etc. in Chapter 1;
Figure 2.1, Figure 2.2, etc. in Chapter 2; and so on. The first number indicates the
chapter in the main body (chapter), while the second number is consecutive numbers
that should restart at 1 for every chapter. Figure in Appendices does not need to be
numbered, but must have figure caption.
The figure number and caption are placed below the table. If a figure is taken from
another source, the reference must be cited properly as part of the figure caption.
Figure 1.1 and Figure 1.2 shows an example of how a figure and figure caption should
appear in the Practical Training Report.
Equations should be inserted using Microsoft Equation Editor. Every equation should
be numbered according to the chapter where it appears. Equation numbering should
be in the format of (1.1), (1.2), etc. in Chapter 1; (2.1), (2.2), etc. in Chapter 2; and so
on. The first number indicates the chapter in the main body (chapter), while the second
number is consecutive numbers that should restart at 1 for every chapter. Equations in
Appendices does not need to be numbered, unless necessary.
The equation should be centred on the line and numbered at the right side of the line.
Equation (2.1) shows an example of how an equation and equation numbering should
appear in the Practical Training Report.

Inserting equations and equation numbers with the correct formatting is tricky. The
best approach is to use table with invisible borders so that the equation is centred on
the page but still has the equation number at the right edge of the line.

2.8. Summary
Table 2.1 summarises the main formatting to be applied for the Practical Training
Report.

CHAPTER 3: SECTIONS OF PRACTICAL TRAINING REPORT
The Practical Training Report is comprised of several sections, namely Cover Page,
Title Page, Preliminaries, Main body (Chapters), References and Appendix.
The cover page of this Practical Training Report shows a coloured cover page image
for Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, Universiti Teknologi MARA
(UiTM).
At the middle of the cover page is the area where the Practical Training Report title
should be. The details below are printed in UPPERCASE in this page.
These should be centred, bold, font size of 14 points for the first line, but font size of
12 points for the remaining lines. This cover page is not paginated (does not has page
number)
Refer to the front page of this guideline/template for correct formatting of the cover
page.
The title page is where the complete title of the Practical Training Report is shown.
This page should contain the following details.

Full name of the organisation
Full address of the organisation
Start and end dates of practical training
Student name
Student ID
The degree for which the report is submitted (Diploma in Computer Science)
Name of Faculty (Faculty of Computer and Mathematical Sciences)
Month and year in which the report is submitted
The university name and report title should be formatted as centre aligned, bold,
UPPERCASE, font size of 18 points, and single-line spacing. The remaining details
should be formatted as centre aligned, bold, font size of 14 points, and single-line
spacing. In addition, the student name should be in UPPERCASE.
This title page is paginated in roman numeral as ‘i’, but this page number is not
displayed.
Refer to the title page of this guideline/template for correct formatting of the title page.
3.3. Preliminaries
The preliminaries section differs from the main body (Chapters) section of the report
mainly at the page numbering. The preliminaries section (including the title page) is
paginated in Roman numeral (ii, iii, iv, v, vi...).
The approval page shows the name of the Academic Supervisor that approved the
Practical Training Report. This approval page is paginated in roman numeral as ‘ii’.

3.3.2. Acknowledgement
The acknowledgement page is for students to dedicate their gratitude and appreciations
to any person, entity or organisation in recognition of any special assistance rendered
to them throughout their Practical Training.
The texts follow the general formatting for texts and paragraphs specified in Section
2.4 while the heading for this page follow the formatting as in Section 2.4.3. This
acknowledgement page is paginated in roman numeral consecutively from the
preceding page.
The titles of parts, chapters or sections and their principal subdivisions should be listed
in the Table of Contents and must be worded exactly as they appear in the body of the
Practical Training Report. It is advisable to use numbers for heading (e.g. 5),
subheadings (e.g. 5.1), and third level subheading (e.g. 5.1.8). For further subdivisions
of headings, small letters within parent report (e.g. 5.1.8 [e]) may be used. Such
numbering system could show, at a glance, the main and subordinate headings and
their relationship with one another. There should not be more than three (3) digits in
the numbering system. This table of contents is paginated in roman numeral
consecutively from the preceding page.
If student use the provided Practical Training Report Template file (in .dotx format)
from CSC339 Google Site, the Table of Content is automated, and will update
accordingly.
The list of tables must use exactly the same numbers and captions that appear above
the tables in the texts. This list of tables is paginated in roman numeral consecutively
from the preceding page.

3.3.4. Abstract
An abstract must give a brief statement of the research problems, aims of the research,
methodologies used, and a summary of the finding in the context of the shole study.
The abstract should not exceed 300 words and should be placed immediately before
Chapter 1. This abstract is paginated in roman numeral consecutively from the
preceding page.
The main body (CHAPTERs) is the main contents of the Practical Training Report.
The main body (CHAPTERs) section differs from the preliminaries section of the
report mainly at the page numbering. The page number for main body (chapters) restart
at 1 and uses numbering of ‘1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11...”

The details of main body are discussed in CHAPTER 4: MAIN BODY OF
PRACTICAL TRAINING REPORT.
Practical Training contents following the Main Body (Chapters) section is called the
closing section. The page number for closing section continues the page numbering
from the preceding main body (chapters) section.
3.5.1. References
The references section is where all materials used as reference during the writing of
Practical Training Report are listed. The references should be written using American
Psychological Association (APA) style only.
Any report which makes use of other researchers’ works, either in direct quotation or
by reference, must contain a ‘References’ section listing these sources.
This section begins on a new page bearing the heading REFERENCES. The list of
references begins four (4) spaces below the heading and is double-spaced between
entries but single-spaced with each entry. A three (3) space indentation should be used
for entries exceeding a single line.
Students are advised to use software like Mandeley or EndNote X to help in managing
list reference materials and formatting.
3.5.2. Appendices
This section may contain supplementary illustrative materials such as original data,
questionnaires, formulas, quotations, etc that are too long for inclusion in the text or
not immediately essential to the understanding of the subject. A description of lengthy
experimental methods or the list of names of participants may be included.

This section is separated from the preceding material by a separator sheet bearing the
heading APPENDICES (or if there is only one, APPENDIX). This sheet is numbered
but not paginated.
This section may be divided into Appendix A, Appendix B, and so on. Each appendix
with its title should be listed separately in the Table of Contents as first order
subdivision.
For the Practical Training Report, the Practical Training Logbook must be included as
Appendix A. Subsequent appendices can be inserted to include additional information,
figures or tables as needed. Figures and tables in Appendix must be captioned, but not
numbered.

CHAPTER 4: MAIN BODY OF PRACTICAL TRAINING
REPORT
The main body of the Practical Training Report should be divided into several chapters.
The suggested chapters are
In the first chapter, students are supposed to introduce the course CSC339 Practical
Training. The CSC339 is a compulsory course for CS110 Diploma in Computer
Science Programme at Universiti Teknologi MARA Sarawak Branch.
Students should only explain about the Practical Training course in this chapter.
Students may mention the name of the organisation they are attached at for Practical
Training, but do not discuss about the organisation in Chapter 1.
In this chapter students are supposed to discuss and elaborate the background of the
organisation they are attached at. Students are advised to consult their Industry
Supervisor for suitable contents to be included in this chapter.

For organisations that is further divided into several departments, students should also
elaborate about the department they are attached into after the organisation background.
For students attached at a branch of an organisation, students should elaborate the
organisation background in general, and the branch background in more detail.
Students may include the organisational chart or organisational structure, vision and
mission of organisation, operating hours of organisation, location of organisation, etc.
in this chapter if available.
All main projects and miscellaneous tasks assigned to the students should be discussed
in this chapter. Refer to the Google Site for CSC339 UiTM Sarawak Branch
(https://sites.google.com/uitm.edu.my/sarawak-csc339) for the list of suitable projects.
Tasks that are not listed as suitable projects should be listed as miscellaneous tasks.
All projects and tasks descriptions should be properly organised into suitable
subsections within in this chapter. For all assigned projects and tasks, students should
discuss the following.

Project implementation
Project testing
Results and discussion
Students are advised to record the implementation of all projects and tasks in photos
or videos. The photos can be included in the Practical Training Logbook and Practical
Training Report; whereas the videos can be included in the Practical Training
Presentation.
In this chapter students are supposed to discussed about the new knowledge, skills,
experiences and other benefits that is gained during the Practical Training at the
organisation. Students may discuss on how the new knowledge, skills, experiences and
other benefits enhances their understanding of courses taken during their study in
Diploma in Computer Science. Students may also discuss on how the new knowledge,
skills, experiences and other benefits changes their perspective in the field of computer
science or any other fields.
This this final chapter, students are supposed to conclude their Practical Training
Report. When concluding the Practical Training Report, students may briefly describe
the benefits they have gained from the assigned project/tasks and from the Practical
Training in general.
Students should be able to provide some suggestion on how to improve the Practical
Training course in the future.

4.7. Writing Convention
The English Language should be used for all texts in the Practical Training Report,
unless when quoting texts from a different language or when referring to official name
in Bahasa Melayu such as the official names of government departments, etc.
The style of English used in the Practical Training Report should be consistent and
should not mix between British English and American English. The use of British
English is recommended.
4.7.2. Numbers
Spell out all numbers less than ten (10), and write the single-digit number inside
bracket after the spelled-out number (e.g. six (6) ).

Direct quotations must be minimised at all times, except in some fields such as
literature (e.g. quotations from Shakespeare). Should a report written in English quote
materials directly in another language (e.g. Bahasa Melayu), students are expected to
provide a direct translation, and whenever possible, must synthesise materials in other
languages and paraphrase then in their own words. Quotations should be italicised and
positioned within quotation marks “...”.
If the quotation is more than two (2) lines, it should be indented and separated from
the main text.

CHAPTER 5: HOW TO USE THE TEMPLATE
A template for the Practical Training Report is provided in .dotx format. Microsoft
Office Word should be used for preparation and formatting of the Practical Training
Report. Use of other word processing software other than Microsoft Office Word (e.g.:
WPS Office, LibreOffice Writer or Google Docs) to open the .dotx file cannot
guarantee full functionalities of the automated features included in the Practical
Training Report Template.
The .dotx format was developed, optimised and maintained by Microsoft to utilise all
features available in Microsoft Office Word software. All UiTM students are provided
a Microsoft account license to legally install and use all software in the Microsoft 365
suite, including Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office Excel and Microsoft
PowerPoint.
Open the Practical Training Report Template .dotx file and save it as a new name
in .docx format.
The Practical Training Template .dotx file already applied the page setup and page
margin settings according to the specifications in CHAPTER 2: of this guideline.
5.3. Preliminaries
Update the organisation details, student details and dates on the cover page and title
page. Update the approval sheet with the correct information of the Academic

Supervisor. Student’s Academic Supervisor will put their signature and date on this
approval sheet after he/she is satisfied with the quality of the Practical Training Report.
5.3.2. Acknowledgement
Replace the sample acknowledgement with student’s own texts to express gratitude
and appreciations to any person or entity that had rendered assistance to student during
the Practical Training period.
The Practical Training Template.dotx. file will automatically update the table of
contents based on the contents added by the students, as long as students use the correct
“Style” for all headings/subchapters. To update the table of contents, right click and
select Update Field as shown in Figure 5.1 and select “Update entire table” to update
the table of content automatically.

The Practical Training Template.dotx. file will automatically update the List of Tables
based on the table captions added by the students, as long as students use the correct
“Style” for all table captions. To update the list of tables, right click and select Update

The Practical Training Template.dotx. file will automatically update the List of Figures
based on the figure captions added by the students, as long as students use the correct
“Style” for all figure captions. To update the list of figures, right click and select
Update Field as shown in Figure 5.3 and select “Update entire table” to update the
table of content automatically.

The Practical Training Template.dotx. file uses the Headings, styles and automated
features of Microsoft Office Word to help organise the Practical Training Report and
provide some automation especially for generation of table of contents, and lists of

tables and figures. Proper use of these Microsoft Office Word features will help
students prepare and format their Practical Training Report to meet the requirements.
Students should also use the Navigation Pane and the Styles Pane of Microsoft Office
Word shown in CHAPTER 1: to help with the preparation and formatting of their
Practical Training Report.
The “Heading 1” style should be used for the Chapter titles. The “Heading 1” style
will automatically number the chapters accordingly. The “Heading 2, Heading 3 and
Heading 4” style should be used for subheadings to mark the subdivisions within a
chapter. “Heading 2” style will apply numbering in “5.1”; “Heading 3” style will apply
numbering in “5.1.1”; “Heading 4” style will apply numbering in “5.1.1.1”. The
“Heading 2, Heading 3 and Heading 4” style will automatically number the chapter’s
subdivisions according to its level of subdivision.
The chapter titles, subheading titles and page numbers will be listed in the Table of
Contents after student update the field for the table of content as shown in Section
5.3.3.
Replace the texts in the Practical Training Report Template .dotx file with student’s
own contents, tables, figures, equations, etc.
The “C Body Texts” style should be used for correct formatting of normal text in the
Practical Training Report. The “C Bullet and Number Text” style should be used for
bulleted or numbered lists in the text, so that the spacing for bulleted and numbered
lists is correct.

5.4.2.1. Tables and Table Captions
The Practical Training Template has examples of table and table caption, with the
correct formatting. Students can copy the table and its table caption to be inserted into
their Practical Training Report. Students then can change the example table with their
own table, and change the table caption to suitable description. The table number will
update accordingly after students highlight it, right-click and choose “Update Field”,
as shown in Figure 5.4
The Practical Training Template has examples of figure and figure caption, with the
correct formatting. Students can copy the figure and its figure caption to be inserted
into their Practical Training Report. Students then can change the example figure with
their own figure, and change the figure caption to suitable description. The figure
number will update accordingly after students highlight it, right-click and choose
“Update Field”, as shown in Figure 5.5.

for students. Replace the sample appendices with student’s own appendices. Student’s
Practical Training Logbook should be included as Appendix A. Other additional
details or contents can be inserted into the subsequent appendices.

CHAPTER 6: SUPERVISION AND ASSESSMENTS FOR CSC339
COURSE
6.1. Supervision
Every Practical Training student will be supervised by two (2) supervisors, namely
one (1) Industry Supervisor and one (1) Academic Supervisor. However, for student
that is undergoing Practical Training at UiTM, the student might be supervised by one
(1) UiTM lecturer or UiTM staff as Industry Supervisor and another UiTM lecturer as
Academic Supervisor.
Supervision and advise on the student regarding the project or tasks assigned
to the student by the organisation.
Supervision on the writing of Practical Training Report and Logbook.
Students will be assessed based on 4 items, namely the Project during Practical
Training, individual Practical Training Report, individual Practical Training Logbook
and Practical Training Presentation. These items will be assessed by the Industry
Supervisor and Practical Training Examiner according to Table 6.1. Assessment forms

will be provided to the Industry Supervisor and Panel of Practical Training Examiner
by CSC339 Practical Training Coordinator/WFLP for assessments.
The Project during Practical Training, Practical Training Report, Practical Training
Logbook and Practical Training Presentation are assessed individually for every
student. For students attached to the same organisation, multiple students may share
the same projects or tasks, but each student must be aware of the specific modules/sub-
tasks that they are working on within the shared project. Students that share the same
projects or tasks are not allowed to share the same logbook, report or
presentation.
Students must not plagiarise the content of logbook or report from another student.
The descriptions of the projects must be included in the Practical Training Report. The
Practical Training Report must be completed by Week 20 of Practical Training (24
July 2024) for assessment.
The Project during Practical Training will be assessed by the Panel of Practical
Training Examiner based on the following criteria:

Criteria 5 and 6 for CSC339 Project assessment also mean that students need to
conduct a presentation regarding their project and tasks to the Panel of Examiner. The
content of the Practical Training Presentation should be based on the contents in the
Practical Training Report.
The Practical Training Presentation will be conducted via Cisco Webex or Google
Meet as part of assessment of Project during Practical Training. The Practical Training
Presentation at UiTM will be conducted during week 21 of Practical Training. CSC339
Practical Training Coordinator/WFLP will arrange the presentation schedule and
instructions for the presentation at UiTM. Students are not required to travel to UiTM
for the Practical Training Presentation at UiTM.
Students should prepare for the presentation to describe the projects or tasks performed
during the Practical Training, and what they learnt throughout the Practical Training
duration.
Students must write a Practical Training Report during Practical Training. Students
should consult their Industry Supervisor and Academic Supervisor for suitability of

the contents included in the Practical Training Report. Certain organisations may
not want to release confidential information of the organisation.
The Practical Training Report must be completed and submitted during Week 20 of
Practical Training (24 July 2024) for assessment.

The provided Practical Training Report Template (.dotx file) is already formatted
according to the requirements specified in this Practical Training Report Guideline
(.pdf file). The sections and subsections in the Practical Training Report Template
(.dotx file) are for example only, students may modify the sections and subsections of

Students must update their Practical Training Logbook (in softcopy or hardcopy) every
working day. Students should include photos in the Practical Training Logbook to help
explain the tasks performed during the day. The Practical Training Logbook must be
approved by the Industry Supervisor every week.

6.2.3.1. Formatting for Practical Training Logbook
A template for the Practical Training Logbook is provided at the CSC339 Google Site.
Students may fill in the logbook in either hardcopy or softcopy according as requested
by the Industry Supervisor.
Students are encouraged to add sketches, diagrams, photos, tables or other visual aids
into the logbook entries to assist in explaining the assigned tasks. Students that had
taken sick leaves must record the sick leave in the logbook and attach a copy of the
medical leave certificate as proof.
The logbook needs to be appended into the Practical Training Report. Therefore, for
students that chose to have the logbook in hardcopy, they need to scan the hardcopy
logbook using a proper scanner. The scanned logbook then need to be appended into
Appendix A of the Practical Training Report; for students chose to have the logbook
in softcopy, they need to copy the logbook and append it into the Practical Training
Report.
Addendum for students that need to undergo COVID19 Home Isolation and
Surveillance Order by KKM via MySejahtera app: students should record the
quarantine leave in the logbook and attach the quarantine order as proof. However,
students are allowed to work from home during the quarantine, depending on the
arrangements by the organisation.
The content of the Practical Training Presentation should be based on the contents in
the Practical Training Report, i.e. Introduction about CSC339 Practical Training,

organisation background, projects and tasks during Practical Training, discussion and
reflection, and conclusion and suggestion.
The Practical Training Presentation will be assessed by the Industry Supervisor based
on the following criteria:
