1.0 SCOPE

1.1 General

This specification defines the requirements for manufacturing,

inspecting, testing, marking, coding and shipping of steel line pipe
to be installed as offshore pipelines. This specification covers steel
line pipe of all diameters, grades to X-60 and SAW, ERW and
seamless manufacturing processes.

Vendor shall obtain Company's prior written approval for any

deviations from the requirements of this specification, the standards
referenced herein, or the contract documents. In case of conflict,
the contract document shall govern.

This specification is not intended to be all inclusive and the use of

the guidelines set forth does not relieve the Vendor of his
responsibility to supply a product capable of performing its intended
service.

1.2 Description of Terminology

As used in this specification, the following definitions shall apply:

Company PTT Exploration & Production Public Company Limited.

Vendor Pipe Manufacturer/Supplier

2.0 CODES AND STANDARDS

Mechanical Testing of Steel Products

3.0 MANUFACTURING REQUIREMENTS

3.1 Pipe shall be manufactured in accordance with API Specification

5L. Exceptions and/or additional requirements to the referenced
codes and standards shall be as given in the following subsections.

3.2 The pipe steel is to be fully deoxidized and the chemical

composition shall conform to the following check analysis limits:

Maximum Percent

Element Grade B X-52 X-60

Carbon 0.220 0.200 0.200

Manganese 1.250 1.350 1.500
Silicon 0.350 0.350 0.350
Phosphorous 0.030 0.030 0.030
Sulfur 0.025 0.025 0.025

Vendor shall advise whether any other elements are added that
could affect hardenability.

3.3 The steel shall have a carbon equivalent (C.E.) not greater that 0.41
calculated from the check analysis in accordance with the following
formula:

C.E. = C + Mn + Cr + Mo + V + Ni + Cu
6 5 15

3.4 Vendor shall fully describe finishing process including but not limited
to such information as final sizing temperature, percent of reduction
below 1,650oF(899oC), and heat treatment temperature prior to the

start of pipe manufacturing.

After any cold deformation by rolling, cold forging or other

manufacturing process resulting in an extreme fiber elongation
greater than five percent, the pipe shall be furnace heat treated.
The Vendor shall furnish details of his heat treatment procedure for
Company approval.

The Vendor shall demonstrate and provide documentation

guaranteeing maximum hardness values throughout the pipe body,
weld areas (both longitudinal and jointer), and heat affected zones
to be no more than HRC 22.

3.5 Throughout the manufacturing process every reasonable effort shall

be made to inhibit resultant micro-segregation in the finished pipe.
Any addition of inclusion shape control additives, such as Rare
Earth Metals, shall be approved in writing by the Company as to
type and amount prior to use.

3.6 Jointers may be produced, up to 5 percent of total order, using

sound pipe sections and a qualified girth weld procedure approved
by Company. There shall be no more than one jointer girth weld in
any single pipe joint and this weld shall not be within 5 feet (1.52M)
of either end of the pipe joint.

Jointer girth welds shall be 100 percent X-ray inspected and

evaluated in accordance with the standards of acceptability outlined
in Appendix A of API-5L, Paragraph 6.0 of General Specification
AGS-35 and API STD 1104.

3.7 Pipe ends shall be beveled for welding in accordance with the
standard API, 30o bevel configuration.

3.8 Pipe shall be suitable for use with internal line-up clamps of the type
considered standard in the industry.

3.9 Pipe joints shall be manufactured to a finished length no less than

38 feet (11.58 M) and no greater than 42 feet (12.80 M) with a
desired average length of 40 feet (12.19 M). Any tendency toward
excessive production of either maximum or minimum length shall
entitle the Company to refuse acceptance of production until the
condition is rectified.

3.10 Pipe dimensions and tolerances, except as otherwise stated

herein, shall be in accordance with API-5L. Pipe end dimensions
shall be referenced to pipe inside diameter and shall be checked
with internal ring gauges.

4.0 INSPECTION AND TESTING

Company's requirements for inspection and testing of pipe,

manufactured in accordance with this specification, shall conform to the
requirements stipulated in API Specification 5L. In addition to the
required tests as specified by the API Standard, the Company shall
have the right to conduct non-destructive tests by ultrasonic,
electromagnetic, radiography, visual, and/or other means. All cost shall
be by Contractor.

The Vendor shall provide reasonable space, labor, and equipment for
handling the pipe to facilitate the Company's inspections.

Exceptions and/or additional requirements to the referenced standards

shall be as given in the following subsections.

4.1 In each and every instance, Vendor shall give Company adequate
(one week minimum for travel in the United States and three weeks
minimum for travel outside the United States) advance notification of
scheduled inspection or test so Company may witness same. Vendor
shall afford Company's representatives access to any and all parts of
manufacturer's facilities where work is being done on the pipe order.

4.2 All pipe other than Grade B material shall be Charpy V-notch impact
tested in accordance with and meet the requirements of
Supplementary Requirement SR8 of API Specification 5L. The test
specimens shall be Charpy V-notch Type A as detailed in ASTM A-
370 and shall be full size wherever practical. The Charpy values and
test temperature shall be as outlined below:

Sample Test Temp. Avg. Value Min. Value

Full Size 32oF 50 ft. lb. 38 ft. lb

(0oC) (68 N-m) (51 N-m)

4.3 Vendor shall use ultrasonic equipment and procedures approved by

the Company to inspect 12 in.(305 mm) of each end of the
longitudinal weld seam of all welded pipe.

acceptance of all production until the cause thereof is rectified.

5.2 All repairs to defects shall be made in strict accordance with API
Specification 5L.

6.0 PIPE MARKING AND CODING

6.1 No die stencilling (hot or cold) shall be permitted.

6.2 All items required by API Specification 5L shall be paint stencilled on

the outside surface of the pipe. Units shall be in the English system.

6.3 The following items shall also be paint stencilled on the inside
surface on each pipe joint:

... Heat and Cast (if applicable) Numbers

... Pipe Joint Number
... Joint Weight per Unit Length
... Joint Length
... Pipe OD, Wall Thickness, and Grade

6.4 Daily and summary tally sheets shall be maintained showing heat
and cast number, joint number, pipe joint weight per foot of length
and length of each joint. Summary tally sheets shall list joint
numbers consecutively.

6.5 Pipe joint numbers for each diameter of pipe are to be consecutive
regardless of cast or heat number. Units shall be in the English
system.
