CAFE KAPITAN
RESTAURANT
Marikina City, the Shoe Capital of the Philippines, renowned for its
stunning natural attractions and vibrant shoe industry, is our second
destination on the second day of our educational tour. The unique fusion of
bustling urban activities and serene natural beauty made our exploration of
the city's manufacturing companies an unforgettable experience.
FOOTWEAR
MUSEUM
We had the honor of seeing the well-known Marikina Footwear Museum
on an informative tour planned by the Marikina Tourism. We had the
exceptional chance to learn more about the rich cultural legacy and history
of Marikina's renowned shoe manufacturing. A group of OJT (On-the-Job
Training) students served as our guides to the footwear museum. Their
passion and expertise were immediately evident as they started our tour
with a thorough overview of the museum's history and its critical function
in upholding Marikina's reputation as the "Shoe Capital of the Philippines."

PELINA SHOE
FACTORY
Small, hidden, yet brimming of creative wonders
and masterpieces – such is our depiction of our next
stop, the Pelina Shoes. This local shoe shop and
factory can be found in Dragon Street, Marikina,
Metro Manila beside the 1990 Cafe. When we entered
the place, an array of ballet flats, mules,
sandals, and slippers in varying sizes and designs were displayed inside the shop.
Enchanted by the shoe galore, all of us got occupied with finding the right pair of
shoes for ourselves and choosing the best gifts for our loved ones.
After checking out their products, we went to the second floor where all the
artistry happens – their little factory. We witnessed the work and effort behind
every shoes they produce. The process starts with the hulmahan or the shoe last,
and proceeds to the making of design and pattern, cutting the leather for upper
assembly, preparing the uppers or pagaareglo, sewing, lasting, welting, and finally,
the finishing. They sell their products at prices ranging from Php 280.00 to Php
600.00. A very affordable price considering the effort that goes into every pair of
footwear. Following the tour and quick shopping from the Pelina Shoes, we
travelled to our next company visit in Marikina City.
