C. Review

What was our lesson yesterday? Yes, Kylie. Sir, yesterday our lesson was about the
different Microsoft Office applications.

Thank you, we discussed yesterday

about the different Microsoft Office
applications.

What are those applications in the Sir, the Microsoft Word, Excel ,and
Microsoft Office? Yes, JC. PowerPoint.

Very good. The Microsoft Office

applications are the MS Word, Excel and
PowerPoint.
E. Motivation
I have here a picture. Observe (Students will observe the picture shown)
the things in this picture.

What do you see?

Sir, there is a keyboard, a mouse and a
computer.

Correct, there is a keyboard, a mouse, laptop, No sir

and computer. Do you know the components
of computer?

IV. Presentation
Our lesson for today is about the
components of computer.

Let us first define computer.

Computer is device that performs a set
of tasks. It performs calculations, it processes
information, it stores files, and it displays and
prints.

Now we have its components. These

are some of the components of a computer.
(Students will listen attentively to the
discussion.)

Let us discuss first the CPU.CPU stands

for Central Processing Unit. It is also called as
microprocessor. It functions as the brain of the
computer. It interprets computer instructions
and it is responsible for data processing.

Next is the Input Device. Aj, read the Input device provides information to the
definition. computer.

Thank you. Input device provides

information to the computer. An example of
this is the keyboard. Keyboard is used to input
text or characters and is also used to control
processes in the computer.

Next is the output device. Everybody

read. (Everybody will read the definition of output
device.)
Output device is the component of a
computer that receives information from the
CPU. An example of this is the monitor. The
monitor displays text, documents, pictures and
videos.

Together, Input device, CPU, and

Output device works to receive, process and
produce information.

Let us refer to this illustration.

An example of an input device is the

keyboard, then the CPU and monitor for the
output device.

I typed the phrase “I Like Cats”

into the keyboard, then it is sent to the CPU.
The CPU now processes the
phrase “I Like Cats”, then it will be
sent to the monitor. The monitor now
will display the phrase “I Like Cats” as
an output.

Understood? Very good. Yes Sir!

Another component of a computer is

the storage. Storage has two types; the Primary
storage and the secondary storage. The primary
storage is the main storage of the computer. It
is where we store files like documents, pictures
and videos.

An example of primary storage is the

Hard-Disk Drive (HDD). The secondary
storage is used for making back-ups of
important documents, programs and other files.
Examples of this are the CD and DVD.

Both of this are used to save data,

program settings, or outputs for future use.
F. Generalization

Let us recall what we had discussed. Sir a computer is a device that performs a set
What again is a computer ,MJ? of tasks.

Very good. Computer is a device that

performs a set of tasks like to compute, store,
display and print.

What are the components of a Sir input device, CPU and output device.
computer Caleb?

Correct, the components of computer

are the input device, CPU and the output
device.

Give an example of an input device Cj. Sir keyboard.

Very good. Example of an input device

is keyboard. How about the output device Sir monitor.
Nathaniel.

Correct, the monitor is an example of

output device.

Now that you know and fully

understand our lesson, let us have a quiz.
V. Evaluation
