What after Class 12?
Choosing the right educational path after class 12 can be a daunting task for both students and parents. Gone are the days when opportunities
were confined to a few traditional avenues such as medicine, engineering, accounting and law. Today, students from all streams - science,
commerce or humanities - have a plethora of options to explore. It's crucial for students and parents alike to be well-informed about these
boundless options, and choose wisely. Each student possesses a unique set of talents, passions, and aspirations. Making a judicious decision
regarding their educational journey not only sets the course for their academic success, but also lays the foundation for a fulfilling and
rewarding career that resonates deeply with their aspirations. This not only maximizes the potential for personal growth and professional
success but also fosters a sense of purpose and fulfilment, guiding students towards a future where they can thrive and excel in their chosen
fields.

Careers in Management
In recent years, there has been a significant change in the way businesses are run and managed. Informed decision-making backed by
scientific approach and structured thinking has become a hallmark of most businesses. Owing to this, the demand for management
professionals across businesses has grown exponentially. Management has become one of the most sought-after career options for those
who want to climb the corporate ladder at a fast pace. Pursuing a degree in management (BBA/MBA) after completing class 12 provides
students formal exposure to the key business domains such as finance, marketing, operations, systems, etc, thus laying a strong foundation
for a lucrative corporate career. Moreover, the rigorous course curriculum, interaction with peers, live business projects, periodic assessments
etc. groom students to emerge as successful and impactful business leaders in the years to come.

MBA Directly after 12th?

All About IPM
The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are the most sought-
after destinations in India for candidates who wish to pursue MBA.
Candidates appear for entrance exams such as CAT after
graduation, and go through a competitive selection process to
secure admission to the MBA programme in IIMs and other
premier business schools. However, students now have a prime
opportunity to enter the IIMs immediately after class 12 and
secure a Bachelor's degree as well as MBA from these prestigious
institutes.
The Five-Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) was
pioneered by the Indian Institute of Management, Indore in 2011.
The programme impar ts 5 years of extensive training in
Management, after which the students get absorbed in the
industry into various managerial positions. After successful
completion of the 5-year programme, students are awarded a dual
degree – BA in Foundations of Management and MBA. Students
who choose to exit after 3 years are awarded BA in Foundations of
Management. The IPM programme of IIM Indore has established
itself as one of the most coveted avenues for students looking for a
career in Management.
In addition to IIM Indore, IIM Rohtak introduced the Five-Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) in the year 2019 for students who
aim to pursue their career in Business Management after class 12. IIM Rohtak conducts its own entrance exam–IPMAT Rohtak. On successful
completion of five years of academic rigour, the participant is awarded with MBA by IIM Rohtak. Students who choose to exit after completing
the programme at the end of three years are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).

IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya introduced the Five-Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) in the year 2021. Admission is through a
joint entrance exam called JIPMAT. Students who successfully complete the 5 year programme are awarded both a bachelor's degree (BBA)
and a master's degree (MBA).

IIM Ranchi also introduced Five-Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) in the year 2021. Admission is through IPMAT Indore
entrance exam. Students who successfully complete the 5 year programme are awarded both a bachelor's degree (BBA) and a master's degree
(MBA).

The IPM targets students who have just completed or are about to complete their 10+2 from various boards in the country. There are many
reasons why this programme would excite a student fresh out of school: -
• The brand value of being an IIM graduate
• The opportunity to complete graduate and post-graduate education in management from top business schools through a single admission
process after class 12
• Enhanced employment opportunities as compared to traditional graduation options
• Less competition in the entrance exam as compared to post-graduate entrance tests like CAT
• Better training in management, thanks to the world-class IIM faculty and a five-year training period compared to two years of regular MBA
programmes.

The IPM Selection Process

Students seeking admission to IPM in any of the institutes offering the programme need to appear for an admission test. Those shortlisted
based on the test scores are called for the next stage of the selection process, which generally consists of a written ability test and personal

Life in IPM
The Five Year Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) aims to instil managerial and decision-making capabilities in young professionals
using modern academic pedagogy of global standards based on a holistic and multi-disciplinary curriculum.
Given the nature of the programme, the learning goals of IPM are split into those for the first 3 years and the last two years.

Learning goals for the first three years of the programme

The IPM will enable students to:
1. Demonstrate language and communication skills 2. Demonstrate knowledge of foundations of management
3. Demonstrate ethical understanding 4. Demonstrate social consciousness

Learning goals of the last two years

The last two years of the programme are at post-graduate level. The IPM students join the PGP programme students and go through the same
set of courses as the PGP students. Hence the learning goals for these two years are the same as those of the PGP Programme.

These include:
1. To develop critical thinking
2. To be able to work effectively in groups
3. To develop competence in quantitative analysis to emerge as socially conscious and ethically motivated managers, leaders and
entrepreneurs
The programme consists of 15 terms spread over a period of 5 years, with each year having 3 terms of 3 months. IPM has two parts. The first
three years build a foundation, and the last two years focus on management.

The foundation has three major elements

• Courses in Mathematics, Statistics and Economics build analytical rigour.
• Courses in Psychology, Sociology and Political Science along with courses in Economics provide an understanding of the core
disciplines on which the study of management is based.
• Courses in Humanities, Literature and Fine Arts provide breadth and perspective.

Summer Placements
Summer placement at the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) refers to internships that students undertake during their summer break as
part of their academic curriculum. It is an integral part of the IPM curriculum, providing students with invaluable exposure to the corporate world
and helping them kickstart their professional careers.
Every year IIM Indore achieves 100% summer placements for their IPM class. The summer placement process in the previous years witnessed
strong participation from prestigious recruiters with presence across varied sectors such as BFSI, Conglomerate, Construction & Real Estate,

year. The median stipend grew by 35%, standing at 2.12 lakhs. The highest stipend offered by firms participating this season stood at 6.6 lakhs,
marking an astonishing increase of 50% as compared to last year.
Final Placements

the final placement season. These placements usually occur towards the end of the academic year, typically between December and April,
depending on the specific institute.
During the final placement process, companies from various sectors such as consulting, finance, marketing, technology, and others visit the
campuses to recruit students. The placement process typically involves several stages including pre-placement talks, resume submission,
interviews, group discussions, and job offers.
