Narrative Report for School In-Service Training, Day 3
January 26, 2024
Aiming to ensure the continuity of quality learning in response to
Matatag: Bansang Makabata, Batang Makabansa - National Reading
Program (NRP) agenda by the continues commitment of the Department
of Education towards the improvement of literacy and the promotion of
life-long learning, the In-Service Training for Teachers of Ambulong
Elementary School was organized. With the leadership of the smart school
principal, Shella Marie C. San Juan, the five-day seminar was held from
January 24 to January 30, 2024.
Last January 26, 2024, the 3rd day of the INSET transpired.
Facilitated by the MOL Mrs. Irene L. De Leon, the day started with the
registration of teachers by Ms. Famela Joy G. Como, A Grade Two teacher
followed by a PowerPoint presentation of a prayer and a Nationalistic
song. Next, an energizer was held to help each participant's spirit awaken.
Then Mrs. Analisa A. Pagsinuhin a grade one teacher reported the
recapitulation of the 2nd day's activity.
After the preliminary activities, the highlight of the day was
presented by the school head Mrs. Shella Marie C. San Juan. She started
her presentation with an awakening warm-up exercise that was related to
the topic to be discussed.
The school head presented first the session objectives and
introduction about Catch-up Fridays (Values Education, Peace Education,
and Health Education) followed by the presentation of the recorded video
of the National Reading (NRP) Catch-up Friday seminar of the upper DepEd
administration personnel.
During the first part of the day's activity, In the recorded video
presentation, explanations of the following were tackled.
- What is the National Reading Program
- When will Catch Up Friday be implemented
- Who will facilitate Catch-up Friday
- Sample Class Program
- How will teachers monitor individual progress on Catch-up

1. Full refresher - The Emerging Curriculum focused on the
mastery of Phonological Awareness and Alphabet Knowledge

3. Light refresher – The Transitioning Curriculum which is
designed for more complex literacy competencies focusing
on Word and Phrase Reading.

Before the morning session ended student profiling was done
according to where they classified, full refresher, moderate refresher, or
light refresher. Class Option 2 was chosen for KS1 and KS2.
Energizer led by our dynamic principal for the afternoon session was
done before moving to the second part of the day activity which is
Planning and suggested Activities.
Different parts of the Lesson Plan Guide were discussed clearly by
the principal. She cited the possible arrangement of the schedule and
lesson planning. Everyone agreed that instead of value integration in the
subject, the focus will be on different skills (Value, Peace, Health, and
Homeroom Guidance) in the second half of Cach-up Friday. She also
assigned who will do the plan for each skill in KS1 and KS2 to make it
easier for all the teachers.
After the discussion, a workshop for making the plan was done.

The grade one teachers presented their output right after the
workshop, followed by the grade two and grade four presenters. After
they presented it, a short post-conference/open forum was conducted.
And once again, the teachers' teamwork and commitment were proven
and demonstrated by the well-executed strategies that were validated.
Closing prayer was delivered by Miss Famela Joy G. Como, Teacher
III of Ambulong Elementary School.
It was a very informative day that ended with smiles in a group
photo shoot.
