Objective
• To connect a potentiometer as a voltage divider to produce a voltage proportional to
angular displacement or rotation angle.
• To calibrate a potentiometer sensor and test the accuracy of the sensor.
Simulation Setup
• Verify that the QNET-Jumper MECHKIT’s (J10) is set to Potentiometer.
To gather data from the sensor, create a VI . In the input DAQ assistance, the channel for
the potentiometer should be selected as ai5. The samples ought to be ongoing. Choose
appropriate samples rates. Take a look at the signal’s waveform graph or chart.
• Check that the DAQ Assistant is set to the appropriate Device, Channel, Samples, and
Sampling Rate. Look into the effects of both higher and lower sample rates.
To get the data, rotate the potentiometer’s arrowhead to a specific angle, such as 45
degrees.
• Create an array in your application to measure the sensor’s angle of rotation and input
Table 1 readings. Plot the graph as well.
The slope and intercept of a linear curve are automatically determined using the data.
• To make the sensor data linear, enter the slope and intercept from Table 2 into the Gain
and Offset controls offered by your programme.
Check to see if the sensor is functioning correctly; for example, when the pot arrow is
turned to any angle, the Display: Potentiometer (deg) knob indicator should show that
angle.

Learning Outcomes
• I have learn the concept of a potentiometer as a voltage divider and how it is used to
produce a voltage proportional to angular displacement or rotation angle.
• Calibrate a potentiometer sensor and create a calibration curve that shows the relation-
ship between the angle of rotation and the voltage output of the potentiometer.
