A little about the author
MDCAT- a time most people who've been through it will call traumatizing, I
stand to disagree with that. The syllabus, the routine, the lack of time can
surely be exhausting but prioritizing and studying smart can actually make
MDCAT pretty fun compared to FSC or A-Levels. The most fun part for me
was randomly practicing MCQs and getting an insight on where I stand
regarding my long term memory retention and for that the PreMed.pk
question bank was a life saver. Everyone who has given MDCAT has his or
her small gate-kept techniques, I managed to score good enough to secure
my admission using those. I have compiled all of my tactics, resources, last
minute advice I used in my MDCAT and I hope this guide helps you save a
whole lot of time.
PUNJAB TOPPER
PERSPECTIVE

Introduction
This section is a part of chapter 8 'Chemical Equilibrium', we have divided the chapter
into two subunits. Acid, bases, and salts is a really important section for first year as
well as MCAT Chemistry. A large portion of it is tested in exams, so you should be
prepared for it. For this, a solid understanding of the ionization constants of acid and
base as well as the conceptual learning of the buffer solutions I required. Overall, the
chapter is complicated, so it will take time for you to clear your concepts. In this
guide, we will not only list the important topics but will tell you exactly how to cover
them. Happy studying!

(NUMS, 2020) be able to keep that information stored in your
memory for a long time (at least till the MDCAT).
The best way to do this is by practicing as many
NH4OH + NH4Cl questions as possible. The PreMed.PK question
bank was of invaluable help to us during our
CH3COOH + CH3COONa preparation. Solve the topical sets, learn from the
explanations provided, and save the questions that
you find challenging. It is extremely important that

asked, because the goal is to be able to solve the
HCl + NaCl MCQs on the MDCAT. We simply cannot emphasize
this enough!

LAST MINUTE ADVICE

Not having enough time for revision is a common
problem (we faced it too!). Here’s what we
recommend:

Read the summary at the end of the chapter,

from the textbook.
Skim through the coloured boxes on the side.
Solve the questions given at the end of the
chapter.
Solve any questions you might have saved while
covering the topic from the PreMed.PK question
bank.
Go through the diagrams and table.
