INFORMATION FOR ATAR STUDENTS

Special examination arrangements are provisions made by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority that will assist
students who have a permanent or temporary disability that could disadvantage them in demonstrating their
knowledge, understanding and skills in the ATAR course examinations. Special arrangements are available for practical
or written examinations. The types of disabilities considered are physical disability; illness eg: diabetes; chronic fatigue;
vision impairment; hearing impairment; fine motor disability; specific learning disability; psychological/neurological
disability; ADD/ADHD. Types of arrangements that can be considered are extra working time; extra reading time; rest
time; use of scribe/computer etc.
Candidates with a known injury or illness which will exist at the start of Term 3 need to apply for special arrangements to
be examined in an alternative format, if their injury or illness will affect their participation in the standard practical
examination of any course. This is particularly relevant to those lining up for surgery before that time. Applications are
due by Thursday, 21 March for written examinations and Wednesday, 24 July for practical examinations. If a student is
diagnosed with a new disability or is injured after 21 March, a late application can be submitted.
The granting of special examination arrangements is not automatic but depends on the provision of medical and/or
psychological evidence to justify the decision. Any ATAR students wanting to apply for Special Examination
Arrangements need to book a meeting with Mrs Bogensperger or Mrs Dowling as soon as possible to discuss their
eligibility and commence the application process. Further information can be found at –

Physical Education Studies Practical examinations take place between - Saturday, 23 September to Sunday, 1
October (Saturday, Sunday and the public holiday included).
Students will be provided with individual examination timetables closer to the examination period. Please be
mindful of the above dates as failure to attend WACE examinations will impact on Year 12 Graduation.
Please also be aware that our Year 12 Semester 2 exams commence on Thursday, 3 October – which is at the end
of the October school holidays.

LOOK AFTER YOURSELF

Your brain and body are closely connected – looking after your body has great
benefits for your mind.
Activities like sport, dance, walking or yoga can increase your performance by
increasing oxygen to your brain. It’s also great at reducing tension from stress
and school pressure.
Some stress can be useful in keeping us motivated – without it we would find
it hard to stay awake! However, during Year 12, and especially during exam
time, you may find your stress levels rising high into the ‘critical zone’, causing
a dramatic decline in performance. Proven strategies for beating stress include:
Relaxation: smartphone apps like Smiling Mind can help.
Time management: try making a list of activities and prioritise.
Connecting with others: talk about your worries, laugh, be positive!
Remember to be kind to yourself: take some time out to do the things you enjoy or help you maintain your wellbeing.

SAVE THE DATE

EGC BALL – will be held on Saturday
23 March from 7pm to 11pm
at Kalgoorlie Town Hall.

Details will be out soon!

UNIFORMS
EGC is our students’ workplace – and they need to be
dressed in their workplace uniform.
We understand there may be times for whatever
reason that a student is out of uniform, and we are
quite happy to loan a college shirt out to them for
the day if this is possible. Otherwise, students are
requested to gain a uniform pass when they arrive at
school. Due to being located on such a public area,
the college tops make it easy for staff to identify our
students, along with generating a strong sense of
pride and belonging.
Uniforms, including College rugby tops and jackets,
are available from ‘The Green Door Gallery’ – 100
Brookman Street, Kalgoorlie.
