Chapter 1 Tube Wear
1.1 Introduction
This section explains:
• the tube wear in different types of tubes,
• the definition of Hot landing,
• the likely reasons for Hot Landing.

1.2 Difference between Ball Bearing (BB) X-Ray Tube Wear and
Liquid Metal Bearing (LMB) X-Ray Tube Wear

1.3 Hot Landings (Revolution) ACT/ACTs/ACT EL

1.3 Hot Landings


• A “hot landing” means the tube rotor/bearing stops with the tube being at high temperature.

• The tube temperature above 291oC is defined as Hot.


• For a field engineer, the Scan Watch value (refer 3.2 Scan Watch Value on page 7) below 13% is
an indication that the tube is cold enough and it is safe to stop the rotor.

CAUTION
RISK OF HOT LANDING
It is important for Field engineer to be aware of the tube temperature before stopping the
rotor or servicing the tube.

Chapter 2 Handling Hot Landing
2.1 Handling Hot Landing Scenarios
It is very important that the system must not be powered down unless the tube is cooled down. The
rotor must be running until the tube is sufficiently cooled down.
• A number of scenarios, that could cause rotor hot landing, have been investigated.
• Depending on the source of the scenario, rotor hot landing has been mitigated either using software
updates or labeling or both.
• Software ensures that the rotor rotates until the tube is cooled down (<= 291oC)
• Additional labels have been designed for A1 panel, PDU and TGPSV plastic cover.
NOTE
Hot landing cannot be avoided if the main power goes out.
The mitigation listed in table below attempt to ensure that the rotor is running until the tube is
sufficiently cooled down.

Service Tools
3.1 Overview
The scenarios (of Table 2-1 Hot Landing Scenarios to be Handled by User/Field Engineer at the
Scanner on page 3) listed below need the tube to be cooled down:

Tool and commands described below are used to determine the tube temperature.

3.2 Scan Watch Value


The Scan Watch Value of 13% corresponds to the tube temperature value of 291oC. The Scan Watch
value can be used as an indicator of tube temperature.

4.1 Gantry Timer: Power Removal from PDU and A1 Disconnect
If the host computer is shut down before the tube is cooled down, the following alert message appears.

1. To acknowledge the message, click OK. The host computer shuts down.
The timer is now displayed on the gantry display panel. The time displayed in gantry display panel is

Chapter 6 Tube Rotor Preparation Messages
6.1 New Tube Pulsing/Rotor Preparation Message
When system is off for longer time (overnight situations) and room temperature not maintained (<18
oC), the system may take more time to warm up (3 minutes to 25 minutes) the tube rotor. When first
scan request is given, based on the previous ambient temperature, preparation time varies. In real time
information window, following information is displayed under “patient handling” or “Scanning” tab.
When the rotor preparation starts, the following message is displayed in “Patient Handling”.

If the rotor preparation finishes in 3 minutes, the following message is displayed “Patient Handling”.

If the rotor preparation takes more than 3 minutes then Scanning tab displays “Scanner hardware
stopped scan” message. This indicates that the user needs to resume scan after the Extended
preparation is completed.
The extended preparation may take another 1 minute to 22 minutes. The Real Time Information displays
the predicted time on minute basis. In “Patient Handling” tab and “Scanning “tab, the following
messages are displayed.

However, if the rotor does not complete warm up after 25 minutes (3 minutes+22 minutes), then the
following message is displayed.

In this instance the scan can be resumed. The tube rotor warm up cycle runs again, for a maximum of 20
minutes. However, if the “tube rotor error” appears in the second attempt, it is recommended to call the
service.

7.1 Notes for Online Engineers/Remove Service Engineers
(OLE/RSE)
The hot landing handling schema described below are applicable to Online Engineers/Remote Service
Engineers when they perform the following actions remotely:
• Applications Shutdown (cleanMon)
• Reboot (reboot)
• Shutdown (shutdown with options)
• System Reset > Scan (from CSD GUI)
• halt (Use this command only when applications are shut down)
The tube has to be cooled down for executing all the above applications.
1. The above commands are executed in the remote computer.
2. The pop up (Figure 3-5 Message when Service Tools are attempted with hot tube on page 9) appears
on the host computer when the tube is hot (Application Shutdown and System Reset). However,
this is not visible to the OLE/RSE.
3. To check the tube temperature, the OLE/RSE must execute mat_c_tool -t command (refer 3.4 ma
t_c_tool -t command on page 8).

Before performing power recycle, the OLE/RSE must ensure that the tube is cold to
prevent rotor hot landing.
OLE/RSE and customer perform the system hardware reset using power recycling workflow. This task is
performed to troubleshoot non-responding system boards (e.g., TGPSV, ORPSV). The figure below
describes the difference between the exiting workflow and the updated workflow.

Chapter 8 Other Enhancements Included in SP 1.1
8.1 Disk Memory filling issue during FastCal
The issue described in the service note SN2339233 (Removal of Temporary .adf Files) has been
addressed in SP1.1. Once SP1.1 is installed on the system, there is no need to cleanup the caladf data.

8.2 Filmer Issue Fix


An issue related to broken Manual Film was reported from some sites in 2018-2019. The user would see
the partially updated user interface (UI) coming up while loading images from ImageWorks. This bug has
been fixed in SP1.1.
If the user still faces this issue, then the user can select “Reload Manual Film” button from the ToolChest
to refresh Manual Film.

8.5 Prodiags List Updates


In SP1.1, two new Prodiag tasks have been added to the Configure PRODIAGS screen. IdmGen and
IdmSend Prodiags (send gesyslog to Data Lake).
These tasks appear in the PRODIAGS screen. To schedule these two tasks, refer to steps described in
service methods (5487125-8EN) Software > Insite RSvP Configuration.

In order to schedule IDMGEN and IDMSend prodiags, follow the process shown in Figure 8-5 Scheduling
IdmGen and IdmSend (For System with Applications Version 19IW19.48) on page 38.
