IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or Recall the formula for the Arithmetic Sequence and How it was used
presenting the new lesson
B. Establishing a purpose of the lesson. State the objectives of the lesson
C. Presenting Examples / Instances of The Arithmetic Means
the Lesson What is an Arithmetic Means?
When three numbers a, A and b are in a sequence., then A is called the arithmetic mean of the numbers 'a' and 'b'.
A - a = d and b - A = d ∴ A - a = b - A 2A = a + b ∴ A = 𝑎+𝑏2 Thus the required arithmetic mean (A.M) of two numbers 'a' and 'b' is 𝑎+𝑏
Given that, a, A , b is in a sequence, then their common difference will be constant.
D. Discussing New Concepts and Example 1
Practicing New Skills #1 Insert three arithmetic means between 8 and 26.
1
Let three arithmetic numbers inserted will be A1, A2 and A3 between 8 and 26. ∴ 8, A1, A2, A3, 26 are in a sequence.
Solution:
Given an arithmetic sequence with the first term (a1) and the common difference (d) , the nth term is given by 𝑎𝑛=𝑎1 +(𝑛−1)𝑑
E. Discussing New Concepts and Nth Term of Arithmetic Sequence
Practicing New Skills #2
Example 1
Find the 27th term of the arithmetic sequence 5, 8, 11, 14,...
a1=5
Solution: 𝑎𝑛=𝑎1 +(𝑛−1)𝑑 𝑎27=5+(27−1)3 𝑎27=5+(26)3 𝑎27=5+78 𝑎27=83
d=3
F. Developing Mastery Try this…
Insert five arithmetic means between 23 and 65.
Were you able to get the arithmetic means between the given two numbers? Easy, right?
G. Finding Practical Applications of Provide real-life application of the topic and allow students to also think on how they will integrate learned concepts on their everyday living
Concepts and Skills in Daily Living
H. Making Generalizations and Let students generalize and abstractions about Arithmetic Mean
Abstractions About the Lesson
I. Evaluating Learning Try this…
1. Find the 32nd term of the arithmetic sequence 67, 75, 83, 91, ...
2. Determine the 13th term of the arithmetic sequence in which a7= 15 and a10= 33
J. Additional Activities for Assignment:
