Cosmos GRANNY SQUARE

introduction
Thank you for selecting my cosmos granny square pattern - the perfect addition to the
blanket! I hope that working on the granny square brings you a lot of joy. I tried making
all of the instructions clear and understandable, but in case of any doubts feel free to

WRITTEN PATTERN:
Center - Color A
Round 0: mc
Round 1: sc, ch as a first dc, dc 9, sl st flo [total 10]

Note: Round 1 is followed by 3D structure of flower


center. Do not change or cut the yarn yet.

Center 3D: Modified puff stitch (4 loops on hook) flo in


each of the dc from round 1 [total 9 puffs] ij to the first
one. Weave the ends in.

MODIFIED PUFF STITCH INSTRUCTION


1: Insert hook
into the first 2: yo again (3 loops
stitch, yo and pull on the hook)
up a loop (2
loops on hook)
3: Insert hook
into the same 4: yo and pull
stitch, yo and through all loops
pull up a loop (4 on hook (1 loop on
loops on hook) hook)
continue in the next stitches..

Petals - Color B
This part is worked behind the
center so Round 2 starts in blo of
Round 1 (photo info added on
the last page). Attach the new
yarn to the back loop only of any
of the stitches of round 1. (RS is
facing up for the petals)

Round 2: sc blo, ch as a first dc, dc blo in the same stitch, inc(dc blo) x 9, sl st blo [total
20]
Round 3: *sc, ch as a first dc, dc in the same stitch, dc in the next stitch, ch 2, sl st to
the same stitch as last dc*, sl st to the next stitch, repeat from * to *. Repeat this
sequence three more times, with the final slip stitch to the first sc of this round.

Petal tip: *sl st to the sc of Round 3, sl


st to the ch, [hdc, dc, tc] all in the next
dc, [tc, dc, hdc] all in the next dc, sl st in
the ch x2, ch 2, sl st to the highlighted
stitch of Round 1, ch, sl st to the loose
ch from ch 2 x2 [8 petals total]

Repeat from * until the end of the


round, sl st to the first st of the round,
weave the ends in

Note: “sl st to the highlighted stitch of


Round 1” - sl st to the same loop as in
the Round 2.

round 2. (RS is facing up for the granny square)
Round 4 [color Z]: sc tlo, ch (as first dc), dc tlo in the same stitch, [dc tlo 1, inc(dc) tlo] x 9,
dc tlo 1, sl st blo [total 30]
Round 5 [color Z]: sc, ch (as first dc), dc in the same stitch, [dc 2, inc] x 9, dc 2, sl st blo
[total 40]
Round 6 [color Z]: sc, ch (as first dc), [hdc 2, sc, hdc 2, dc 2, ch 3, tc, ch 3, dc 2] x 3, hdc 2,
sc, hdc 2, dc 2, ch 3, tc, ch 3, dc, sl st blo [total 40 (chains not included)
Round 7 [color Z]: sc, ch (as first dc), dc 6, dc 3 in the ch sp, ch 2, [fptc, ch 2, dc 3 in the ch
sp, dc 9, dc 3 in the ch sp, ch 2] x 3, fptc, ch2, dc 3 in the ch sp, dc 2, ij [total 64 (chains not

INVISIBLE JOIN:
1: Cut the yarn and pull the loop
to make one string. Pull the cut
yarn through the loop and insert
the hook in the first loop of this
round
2: Pull the yarn to the other side

3: Insert the hook into the last


chain back loop only and pull
the yarn to the other side.
Weave in the rest of the yarn.
