IV. TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCEDURES

Before/Pre-Lesson Proper
Good day, everyone! Welcome to another fun learning experience in
our TLE-ICT Class!

We are here again to learn and have fun on Catch-Up Friday. Are you
ready to learn?

Let’s begin! Find your pairs and let’s play bingo. Each pair has a
bingo card with different information. The purpose of this game is to
recall what you have learned from the four-day session.

(Note: The teacher should prepare the bingo cards before the class.
They may use Excel to create the bingo cards and change the data
inside. Then, they distribute the bingo cards to the class.)

Are you all set?

I’m going to call out the meaning, definition, or any related

information from your past lessons randomly. You're going to mark
the called item's answer on the Bingo cards. The first one to get five
in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) shouts “Bingo!” and
wins. Winning students will receive a reward.

(Note: The game allows the teacher and learners to use their dialect
Activating Prior while they play to create a different learning environment and make
Knowledge the game more engaging and fun.)

corner of the class has a hidden envelope, and you are going to
look for it and bring it to your group to solve the problem.

(The email envelopes contain jumbled letters and steps.)

Please post your outputs on the board when you are done.

Congratulations to the group that finished the task first! Let’s

clap our hands for them, please.

Now, can you guess what our lesson is about?

Yes, correct! Mail Merge and the steps in creating mail merge.
I'm glad that some of you still remember the steps and got it
correctly.

Now, to expand your knowledge and skills, here are the following
objectives:
1. Recall the basic steps required for setting up a mail merge in a
word processor;
2. Explain the purpose and benefits of mail merge;
3. Demonstrate the setup and execution of a mail merge process;
4. Evaluate the accuracy of the final merged documents; and
5. Produce a simple document with a mail merge.

We will achieve these objectives through a series of activities later. I

encourage you to participate actively and ask questions whenever
you need clarification. Let’s make the most of this lesson together!

Please get your notes and write down the following terminologies that
we will use throughout the lesson.

I know some of the terminologies are familiar to you.

Guide Question:
1. Which new term have you encountered that you want to
understand more deeply?
Expected/Possible Answer:
Ma’am, I want to learn to preview results, sort, and identify the
different data sources.

Okay, we will go through that.

During/Lesson Proper
Now let’s read a short story entitled “Certificate Chaos to
Calm”.
(Simultaneous Reading)

Certificate Chaos to Calm

Teacher Mary is a Grade 12 adviser and a specialized TLE

teacher. She has 80 students who are graduating this year.
The graduation date is approaching quickly, yet she has not
finished creating a batch of certificates because she is doing
them one by one. She needs to prepare certificates of
completion for specialization, certificates for parents,
certificates for honored students, and certificates for club
members.

Mary finds it difficult to complete this task with such limited

time. She feels pressured and stressed by the situation.
Fortunately, her colleague, the ICT teacher, came to her aid.
She sought advice on how to accomplish the task more
efficiently and without it being time-consuming.
Reading the Key
Idea/Stem
The ICT teacher suggested using Mail Merge. He advised her
(5 minutes)
to first create the format of the content and then prepare a list
of the learners' and parents' names in one source document.
Following the suggested idea, Teacher Mary was finally able to
reduce her stress and started working on the task.

In just an hour, she finished her first batch of certificates for

parents and continued efficiently with the rest. Thanks to Mail
Merge, she was able to complete all the necessary certificates
on time.

Did you enjoy reading the story?

Guide Questions:
1. From the story you have read, what have you learned?
Expected/Possible Answer:
Ma'am, I learned from the story that working with mail
merge makes work easier and faster.

2. How did using Mail Merge help Teacher Mary manage her
workload more efficiently? (Peace Education and Health
Integration)
5
LESSON SCRIPT IN TLE 7

Expected/Possible Answer:
Mail Merge helped Teacher Mary manage her workload
better by creating personalized documents, saving her
time, reducing mistakes, and making it easy to update
information. This made her work faster and gave her
more time to work with another load.

3. How could better stress management have improved Teacher

Mary's situation? (Health Integration)
Expected/Possible Answer:
Better stress management could have improved Teacher
Mary's situation by making her more productive,
healthier, happier, and more balanced in her work and
personal life.

4. How did seeking help contribute to a more peaceful work

environment for Teacher Mary? (Peace Integration)
Expected/Possible Answer:
Better stress management could have improved Teacher
Mary's situation by making her more productive,
healthier, happier, and more balanced in her work and
personal life.

Thank you for your participation. I think you now understand

the importance and value of using mail merge for work, just
like Teacher Mary. At this point, we already know the purpose
and benefits of using mail merge.

From the short story, there is a suggested first step she would
take before starting the mail merge. Do you still remember?
Yes, you must prepare first the list.

I'd like you to focus on the screen to get the correct procedure
for executing mail merge.

(The teacher demonstrates following the procedures.)
