Growth Mindset
Growth mindset is the belief that our abilities are always changing and that we are able
to improve with hard work and practice. With this mindset, failures and mistakes
become gifts that unlock life lessons, instead of an excuse to quit.

Dress for the Weather

District policy is that we will go outside for recess unless the wind chill is 15° or less and/or there
are winds of 25 mph or more.
This year, the teachers are taking the students out while their
classrooms are being sanitized. The teachers have the option of
taking their students out or going into the cafeteria or gym for
social distanced activities.
Please make sure that your child is properly dressed for the weather. Hats, mittens, scarves and
warm boots are a necessity in this cold weather. Snow play is allowed only with wearing
appropriate clothing; hats, gloves, snow pants, coats and boots. Please remind your child that to
be safe, snow must stay on the ground.

Emergency Closing & Snow Days

In the event school should close early - every child needs to know where to go (a friend,
neighbor, etc.). Please discuss this with your child and make a plan. Emergency closings and
snow day announcements can be found on the Anchor Bay website or any of the major T.V.
channels. If you are not receiving district text messages and would like to, please text “Opt In”
to 68453.

Getting Enough Sleep

Elementary age children usually need 9-11 hours of sleep, each night. Different
children require different amounts of sleep. You know your child best and you will
know those days when he/she did not get enough sleep. You can help your child
understand the idea of getting enough sleep. This can be done by figuring out the
number of hours he/she will sleep based on the time they normally get up in the morning and the
time they usually go to bed.

A Bedtime Tip
Set up times for restful activities. You might have your child draw,
read a book alone or with a parent, or listen to comforting music.
Doing these activities right before bedtime often prepares the child
for going to sleep easily. (Michigan Model Curriculum)
A Few Safety Reminders
We ask that you remember to follow the safety measures we have in place in the parking
lot to keep our children safe. Specifically, please do not block the bus lanes and park
only in designated spots. Please be aware the busses need to get through to the bus
lanes, and need a clear passage. Two lanes are designated for Parent Pick-Up. Please do
not park in those lanes. If you want to leave your car, then you must park in the parking
lot and go to door #2 or 9 to wait for the students to be release.
Your cooperation for the safety of our children is greatly appreciated!
