Studio Policy

Autumn 2011 - June 2012 Lessons Private Lessons are given weekly in 15, 30 and 45 minute lengths. I offer a comprehensive and fun approach to lessons, focusing on good technique, music theory, LCM exam repertoire, music history, sight reading and performance skills. Lessons are open to learners of all ages and abilities. I aim to inspire my pupils to love music and to enjoy sharing their achievements with others through performance. My goal is to make each lesson an enjoyable experience, tailored to the abilities and interests of each student. Teaching Experience I began taking private piano lessons at the age of 7 and achieved my DipLCM in Pianoforte Performance under the tuition of Mr. Paul Savage. I have 4 years teaching experience, both in the Patricia Hamilton ALCM School of Music and Performing Arts and in my own private studio. I perform both piano and cello regularly in my church and am often involved as a performer in other events. I am committed to continuing my own music education so that I can offer my students quality instruction. Last year, I studied in my free time and was delighted to pass the DipMusLCM theoretical diploma. Practice Students are expected to practice regularly during the week, and parental involvement in home practice is important. Parents of primary school-aged students should plan to sit with their child as they play at least once a week, even for a few minutes, while older students should be encouraged to make practice a part of their routine. Each week, I write a detailed list of practice tasks and theory exercises to be completed for the next lesson in pupil notebooks. Parents should check this to ensure that the work is being completed.

Attendance Students are expected to attend each scheduled lesson, but if you cannot attend, let me know as soon as you can. The easiest way to do this is by text or email. I will do my best to re-arrange lessons, but please understand that this may be difficult as I have a greater number of students this year. Please be prompt I cannot extend lesson times for students arriving late. Students should not arrive more than 5 minutes early and should be picked up on time after their lessons. Media Release Photos of students may be posted online and used in parent newsletters. Identifying information will be excluded or limited to first names only. Parents wishing to exempt their children from any published media may do so by providing a written exclusion request. Tuition & Fees Each 30 minute lesson is 10, which may be paid at the time of the lesson. Parents will receive a receipt on payment. Parents may need to purchase exam repertoire or other books, as these are not covered by lesson fees. I will ensure that any books purchased will be used extensively.
