3. Fault Confirmation
SUBTASK 32-20-00-710-054-A
A. Do the steps that follow to confirm the fault:
- It is recommended that you do all the steps that follow. This will find the source of th
e vibration. When you have found the source of the vibration, go to the applicable par
agraph in Fault Isolation.

NOTE: The vibration can start in the MLGs although it is felt through the NLG.
NOTE: The only procedure to do a check for vibration, is for the flight crew to monitor the
aircraft during the subsequent flight cycle.
NOTE: During take off, the vibration is monitored at the L/G up position. If the vibration st
ops immediately when you set the L/G lever to the UP position, the source of the vi
bration is possibly the MLG. If the vibration does not stop immediately when you s
et the L/G lever to the UP position but decreases gradually, the source is possibly t
he NLG.
NOTE: You can ignore the vibration felt at the NLG during taxiing. This can occur because
of the taxiway or runway condition, weight, center of gravity, taxi speed and rate o
f command.
(1) Do a check of the NLG and MLG tires:

(a) Make sure that the mix of the tires is correct Ref. AMM 32-41-00-200-802.

(b) Do a general visual inspection of the tires Ref. AMM 32-41-00-210-803 for:

1 Damage or missing parts

2 Flat spots.

(c) Do a check of the tires for uneven wear:

NOTE: On the NLG, if one tire has more wear than the other, vibration can oc
cur even if the tires have permitted levels of wear.

(d) Do a check of the tires for the circular tire movement (movement of the tires r
elative to the wheel rim):

1 Make sure that the circular tire movement of the NLG and MLG tires is co
rrect Ref. AMM 32-41-00-210-803. Too much circular tire movement can
have an effect on the wheel or tire balance.

(e) Do a check of the tire installation on the wheel rim (for irregular shape):

NOTE: The tires usually have a 'rim-line' that is near the beads on all of the t
ire circumference.

1 Refer to the rim line to make sure that the tire is correctly installed on th
e rim (after the tire inflation and when the tire is stable).

2 Make sure that the distance between the wheel rim and the rim line is th
e same all around the wheel assembly.

(f) Do a check of the NLG and MLG tire pressure Ref. AMM 32-41-00-220-807.

1 If the tire pressure are not correct, do the necessary inflation or deflatio
n.
(2) Do a check of the NLG and MLG wheels for damage or missing parts:

(a) Do a check for damage on the NLG and MLG wheels Ref. AMM 32-41-00-210-8
03.

(b) Do a check for the missing or incorrectly installed wheel balance weights.
(3) Refer to the result of the steps above.

(a) If the NLG is the source of the vibration, go to subtask 32-20-00-810-056-A.

(b) If the MLG is the source of the vibration, go to subtask 32-20-00-810-057-C.

(c) If the source of the vibration is not correctly known, do all the Fault Isolation st
eps until the fault is corrected.

4. Fault Isolation
SUBTASK 32-20-00-810-056-A
A. If the source of the vibration is the NLG:
- It is recommended that you complete all the steps that follow in line maintenance. Re
pair or replace the items that are not satisfactory.
