Q. 3 A machine is used for producing two products I and II. Product I is produced by using
3 units of chemical salt and 2 units of chemical mixture. Product II is produced
by using 2 units of chemical salt and 4 units of chemical mixture. Only 1000 units of
chemical salt and 1500 units of chemical mixture are available. The profit on product I is
`25 and on II, it is `20. Give mathematical formulation for LPP to maximize the profit. (2)
Q. 4 An aeroplane can carry a maximum of 250 passengers. A profit of `1500 is made on each
executive class ticket and a profit of `900 is made on each economy class ticket.
The airline reserves at least 30 seats for executive class. However at least 4 times as many
passengers prefer to travel by economy class than by executive class. Formulate LPP in
order to maximize the profit for the airline. (2)
Q. 6 A horticulturist wishes to mix two brands fertilisers, that will provide a minimum of
15 units of potash, 20 units of nitrate and 24 units of phosphate. One unit of brand I
provides 3 units of potash, 1 unit of nitrate and 3 unit of phosphate. It costs `120 per
unit. One unit of brand II provides 1 unit of potash, 5 units of nitrate and 2 units of
phosphate. It costs `60 per unit. Formulate the problem as LPP to minimize the cost. (2)

Q. 14 A production unit makes special type of metal chips by combining copper and brass.
The standard weight of the chip must be at least 5 grams. The basic ingredients i.e. copper
and brass cost `8 and`5 per gram. The durability considerations dictate that the
metal chip must not contain more than 4 grams of brass and should Contain minimum
2 grams of copper. Find the minimum cost of the metal chip satisfying the above conditions. (4)
Q. 15 Minimize : Z = 6x + 4y,
Subject to 3x 2y 12,
x y 5,
0 x 4,
0 y 4. (4)
Q. 16 A furniture dealer deals in tables and chairs. He has `1,50,000 to invest and a space to store at
most 60 pieces. A table costs him `1500 and a chair ` 750. Construct the inequations and
find the feasible solution. (4)
Q. 17 A horticulturist wishes to mix two brands of fertilizers that will provide a minimum of 15
units of potash, 20 units of nitrate and 24 units of phosphate. One unit of brand I provides
3 units of potash, 1 unit of nitrate, 3 units of phosphate. One unit of brand II provides
1 unit of potash, 5 units of nitrate and 2 units of phosphates. One unit of brand I costs
