Overview – Principles
Focusing
on
universal
principles
allows
us
to
connect
systems
to
EACH
OTHER.
Too
omen
we
focus
on
the
methods
of
a
specific
system,
rather
than
universal
principles,
which
make
ALL
systems
work.

Universal
Principles
• Gravity
–
Keeps

• Karma
–
The
acIons

• Gunas

AcIon
vs.
feeling
Principle Explained - Karma
Karma
means
“acIon”.
It
is
the
law
that
includes
pre-‐
determinism
and
presence
(or
freewill).
They
are
part
of
the
same
process,
just
viewed
from
a
different
point.
Example:
If
you
drink
10
cups
of
coffee,
it
will
predetermine
the
hyperacIvity
that
follows.
Once
you
take
that
acIon,
you
cannot
change
the
result.
All
Karma
works
this
way.
But
omen,
there
is
a
gap
between
the
acIon
and
the
result,
so
we
may
forget.
Principle Explained - Karma
Example:
Let’s
say
you
steal
something
and
do
not
get
caught.
Then
one
day
someone
steals
something
from
you.
There
may
be
a
feeling
of
being
vicImized
–
but
actually,
this
was
“Karma”
teaching
you
what
it
is
like
to
steal.
When
we
remember
the
truth
(Dharma)
that
we
are
not
just
living
this
lifeIme
with
these
circumstances,
it
is
easy
to
see
how
our
current
birth,
situaIons
and
life
challenges
came
from
the
decisions
and
acIons
from
the
past.
Then
each
moment,
as
these
pa(erns
arise
we
are
challenged
to
choose
more
wisely,
or
conInue
to
bring
difficulty.
Principle explained - Guna
Gunas
-‐
(Body,
Mind,
Spirit
–
Self,
Others,
Universe)
The
three
gunas
are
the
three
qualiIes
of
nature.
The
term
guna
means
“that
which
binds,”
as
each
guna
is
like
a
separate
strand,
which
when
placed
together
form
the
rope
of
maya.
They
are
what
bind
us
to
the
illusion
that
we
are
merely
a
physical
/
mental
creature.
All
ma(er
and
energy
consists
of
the
three
gunas
in
different
quanIIes.
Theirs
are
the
component
qualiIes
of
the
physical,
mental
and
spiritual
worlds.
Principle explained - Guna
Tamas:
Body
/
Form.
Tamas
binds
through
inerIa
and
our
tendency
to
cling
to
situaIon
and
form.
Its
power
is
best
expressed
through
the
physical
forms,
including
our
body,
and
puts
emphasis
on
ourselves.
Must
handle
ourselves
Rajas:
Mind
/
AcIvity.
Rajas
binds
through
moIvaIon
and
our
desire
to
experience
pleasure.
It
is
shows
the
mind
and
emoIons.
It
emphasizes
on
other
people.
Must
share
equally
SaDwa:
Spirit
/
Harmony.
Sa(wa
binds
us
to
happiness
and
wisdom,
which
is
also
a
barrier
to
final
liberaIon.
It
is
the
soul
and
connects
us
to
God.
Must
