more  than  120  students  enrolled.

I  am    cerIfied  level  1  and  2  through  ACVA

Overview – Related Sciences

Each  of  these  3  sciences  funcIon  independent  of  each  other,
but  when  connecIng  them,  the     most  sensible  structure:
Astrology  >  Neuroscience  >  Quantum  physics  >  Result
Overview – east and west
  need  to  be  integrated  if
Eastern  and  Western  approaches
  are  to  be  complete.
cultures  /  sciences  /  approaches
East  –  Extends  |  West  –  LegiImizes

Western  sciences  are  methodical  but  incomplete,  lacking  a
connecIon  to  spirit  and  consciousness.
Eastern  sciences  inspire,  but  are  stuck  because  they  lack  a
connecIon  to  scruIny  /  research.  (in  the  modern  world).

“If  belief  in  God  can't  stand  up  to  proof,  it  won't  sustain  a
person  through  difficult  Ames.  “
~  Deepak  Chopra
Brihat Parashara – Ch. 1
I  prostrate  before  the  lotus-‐feet  of  Lord  Vighneswara,  offspring  of  Uma,
the  cause  of  destrucIon  of  sorrow,  who  is  served  by  Mahābhutas  (the
five  great  elements  of  the  universe)  etc.,  who  has  the  face  of  a  tusker
and  who  consumes  the  essence  of  Kapi(ha  and  Jambu  fruits.

1-‐4.  Offering  his  obeisance  to  all-‐knowing  Mahārishi  Parāśar  and  with
folded  hands,  Maitreya  said:  “O  venerable  Mahārishi,  JyoIsh,  the
supreme  limb  of  the  Vedas,  has  three  divisions,  viz.  Horā,  Ganita  and
Samhita.  Among  the  said  three  divisions  Horā,  or  the  general  part  of
JyoIsh  is  sIll  more  excellent.  I  desire  to  know  of  its  glorious  aspects  from
you.  Be  pleased  to  tell  me,  how  this  Universe  is  created?  How  does  it
end?  What  is  the  relaIonship  of  the  animals,  born  on  this  earth,  with  the
heavenly  bodies?  Please  speak  elaborately”
Brihat Parashara – Ch. 1

5-‐8.  Mahārishi  Parāśar  answered.  O  Brahmin,  your  query  has  an

auspicious  purpose  in  it  for  the  welfare  of  the  Universe.  Praying  Lord
Brahma  and  Śrī  Sarasvak,  his  power  (and  consort)  and  Sūrya,  the  leader
of  the  Grahas  and  the  cause  of  CreaIon,  I  shall  proceed  to  narrate  to  you
the  science  of  JyoIsh,  as  heard  through  Lord  Brahma.

Only  good  will  follow  the  teaching  of  this  Vedic  Science  to  the  students,
who  are  peacefully  disposed,  who  honour  the  preceptors  (and  elders),
who  speak  only  truth  and  are  godfearing.  Woeful  forever,  doubtlessly,
will  it  be  to  impart  knowledge  of  this  science  to  an  unwilling  student,  to  a
heterodox  and  to  a  cramy  person.
Brihat Parashara – Ch. 1

9-‐12.  Śrī  Vishnu,  who  is  the  Lord  (of  all  ma(ers),  who  has  undefiled  spirit,
who  is  endowed  with  the  three  Gunas,  although  he  transcends  the  grip
of  Gunas  (GunaIta),  who  is  the  Author  of  this  Universe,  who  is  glorious,
who  is  the  Cause  and  who  is  endowed  with  valour,  has  no  beginning.  He
authored  the  Universe  and  administers  it  with  a  quarter  of  his  power.

The  other  three  quarters  of  Him,  filled  with  nectar,  are  knowable  only  to
the  philosophers  (of  maturity).  The  Principal  Evolver,  who  is  both
percepIble  and  impercepIble  in  Vasudeva.  The  ImpercepIble  part  of  the
Lord  is  endowed  with  dual  powers,  while  the  PercepIble  with  triple
powers.
Brihat Parashara – Ch. 1

13-‐15.  The  three  powers  are  Śrī  ShakI  (Mother  Lakshmi)  with  Sa(va-‐
Gun,  Bhū  ShakI  (Mother-‐Earth)  with  Rajo-‐Gun  and  Nīl  ShakI  with  Tamo-‐
Gun.  Apart  from  the  three,  the  fourth  kind  of  Vishnu,  influenced  by  Śrī
ShakI  and  Bhoo  ShakI,  assumes  the  form  of  Shankarshan  with  Tamo-‐
Gun,  of  Pradyumna  with  Rajo-‐Gun  and  of  Anirudh  with  Sa(va-‐Gun.

16-‐17.  Mahatatwa,  Ahamkar  and  Ahamkar  MurI  and  Brahma,  are  born
from  Shankarshan,  Pradyumna  and  Anirudh,  respecIvely.  All  these  three
forms  are  endowed  with  all  the  three  Gunas,  with  predominance  of  the
Gun  due  to  their  origin.
Brihat Parashara – Ch. 1
18-‐20.  Ahamkar  is  of  three  classes,  i.e.  with  Sa9vic,  Rajasic  and  Tamasic
disposiAons.  Divine  class,  sensory  organs  and  the  five  primordial
compounds  (space,  air,  fire,  water  and  earth)  are,  respecIvely,  from  the
said  three  Ahamkaras.  Lord  Vishnu,  coupled  with  Śrī  ShakI,  rules  over
the  three  worlds.  Coupled  with  Bhoo  ShakI,  He  is  Brahma  causing  the
Universe.  Coupled  with  Neel  ShakI,  He  is  Shiva,  destroying  the  Universe.

21-‐24.  The  Lord  is  in  all  beings  and  the  enIre  Universe  is  in  Him.  All
beings  contain  both  Jivatma  and  Paramatmāńśas.  Some  have
predominance  of  the  former,  while  yet  some  have  the  la(er  in
predominance.  Paramatmāńś  is  predominant  in  the  Grahas,  (Sūrya  etc.)
and  Brahma,  Shiva  and  others.  Their  powers,  or  consorts  too  have
predominance  of  Paramatmāńś.  Others  have  more  of  Jivatmāńś.

Brihat Parashara – Ch. 2
1.  Maitreya:  “O  Mahārishi  Parāśar,  are  the  incarnaIons  of  Vishnu,  viz.  Śrī
Ram,  Śrī  Krishn  etc.,  endowed  with  Jivāńś?

2.  Maharishi  Parashar:  “O  Brahmin,  the  four  incarnaIons,  Ram,  Krishn,
Narasimh  and  Varah  are  wholly  with  Paramatmāńś.  The  other
incarnaIons  (than  these,  out  of  the  9)  have  in  them  Jivāńś  too.

3-‐4.  The  unborn  Lord  has  many  incarnaAons.  He  has  incarnated,  as  the
9  (Nava)  Grahas  to  bestow  on  the  living  beings  the  results  due  to  their
Karmas.  He  is  Janardan.  He  assumed  the  auspicious  form  of  Grahas  to
destroy  the  demons  (evil  forces)  and  sustain  the  divine  beings.
Vedic Astrology - origin
“Janardhana,  who  destroys  janma  (birth)  brought  about  by  avidya  (ignorance)
and  bestows  on  the  worshipper  the  awareness  of  his  idenIty  with  the  lord.”
Brihat Parashara – Ch. 2

5-‐8.  From  Sūrya  the  incarnaIon  of  Ram,  from  Candr  that  of  Krishn,  from
Mangal  that  of  Narasimh,  from  Budh  that  of  Buddha,  from  Guru  that  of
Vaman,  from  Śukr  that  of  Parashuram,  from  Śani  that  of  Kurma
(Tortoise),  from  Rahu  that  of  Varah  (Pig)  and  from  Ketu  that  of  Meen
(Fish)  occurred.  All  other  incarnaIons  than  these  also  are  through  the
Grahas.

The  beings  with  more  Paramatmāńś  are  called  divine  beings.  The  beings
with  more  Jivatmāńś  are  (mortal)  beings.  The  high  degree  of
Paramatmāńś  from  the  Grahas,  viz.  Sūrya  etc.  did  incarnate,  as  Ram,
Krishn  etc.
Brihat Parashara – Ch. 2
9-‐13  Amer  compleIng  the  mission,  the  Paramatmāńśas  (of  the
respecIve)  Grahas  again  merge  (in  their)  Grahas.  The  Jivatma  porIons
from  the  Grahas  take  births,  as  human  beings  and  live  their  lives
according  to  their  Karmas  and  again  merge  in  the  Grahas.  At  the  Ime  of
Great  DestrucIon,  the  Grahas  as  well  merge  in  Lord  Vishnu.

The  one,  who  knows  of  all  these,  will  become  versed  in  the  knowledge  of
the  past,  present  and  future.  Without  a  knowledge  of  JyoIsh  these
cannot  be  known.  Hence,  everyone  should  have  a  knowledge  of  JyoIsh,
parIcularly  the  Brahmin.  The  one,  who,  devoid  of  knowledge  of  JyoIsh,
blames  this  Vedic  Science  will  go  to  the  hell  called  ‘Raurava’  and  will  be
reborn  blind.
Brihat Parashara – Ch. 3
1.  Maitreya:  “O  Mahārishi,  you  have  affecIonately  explained  about  the
incarnaIons  of  Grahas.  Now  kindly  detail  their  characters  and
disposiIons.
2-‐3  Paraśar:  “O  Brahmin,  listen  to  the  account  of  placement  of  the
heavenly  bodies.  Out  of  the  many  luminous  bodies  sighted  in  the  skies
some  are  stars,  yet  some  are  Grahas.  Those,  that  have  no  movements,
are  the  Nakshatras.
4-‐6.  Those  are  called  ‘Grahas’,  that  move  through  the  Nakshatras  in  the
zodiac.  The  said  zodiac  comprises  of  27  Nakshatras  commencing  from
Ashvini.  The  same  area  is  divided  in  12  parts  equal  to  12  ‘Rashis’
commencing  from  Mesh.  The  names  of  the  Grahas  commence  from
Sūrya.  The  Rashi  rising  is  known,  as  ‘Lagn’.  Based  on  Lagn  and  the  Grahas,
joining  and  deparIng  from  each  other,  the  naIve’s  good  and  bad  effects
are  deducted.
Overview – Principles
Focusing  on  universal  principles  allows  us  to  connect
systems  to  EACH  OTHER.  Too  omen  we  focus  on  the  methods
of  a  specific  system,  rather  than  universal  principles,  which
make  ALL  systems  work.    Principle  Thinking  is  Supreme
Below  are  a  few  Universal  Principles
• Gravity  –  Keeps  physical  forms  together
• Karma  –  The  acIons  we  take  and  their  results
• Gunas  -‐  (Body,  Mind,  Spirit  –  Self,  Others,  Universe)
• 5  Elements  –  Building  Blocks  of  Life
• Duali=es  –  Inner  vs.  outer  |  AcIon  vs.  feeling
Principle Explained - Karma
Karma  means  “acIon”.  It  is  the  law  that  includes  pre-‐
determinism  and  presence  (or  freewill).  They  are  part  of  the
same  process,  just  viewed  from  a  different  point.
Example:
If  you  drink  10  cups  of  coffee,  it  will  predetermine  the
hyperacIvity  that  follows.  Once  you  take  that  acIon,  you
cannot  change  the  result.

All  Karma  works  this  way.  But  omen,  there  is  a  gap  between
the  acIon  and  the  result,  so  we  may  forget.
Principle Explained - Karma
Example:
Let’s  say  you  steal  something  and  do  not  get  caught.  Then  one
day  someone  steals  something  from  you.  There  may  be  a
feeling  of  being  vicImized  –  but  actually,  this  was  “Karma”
teaching  you  what  it  is  like  to  steal.

When  we  remember  the  truth  (Dharma)  that  we  are  not  just
living  this  lifeIme  with  these  circumstances,  it  is  easy  to  see
how  our  current  birth,  situaIons  and  life  challenges  came
from  the  decisions  and  acIons  from  the  past.  Then  each
moment,  as  these  pa(erns  arise  we  are  challenged  to  choose
more  wisely,  or  conInue  to  bring  difficulty.
Principle explained - Guna
Gunas  -‐  (Body,  Mind,  Spirit  –  Self,  Others,  Universe)
The  three  gunas  are  the  three  qualiIes  of  nature.  The  term
guna  means  “that  which  binds,”  as  each  guna  is  like  a
separate  strand,  which  when  placed  together  form  the  rope
of  maya.

They  are  what  bind  us  to  the  illusion  that  we  are  merely  a
physical  /  mental  creature.  All  ma(er  and  energy  consists  of
the  three  gunas  in  different  quanIIes.  Theirs  are  the
component  qualiIes  of  the  physical,  mental  and  spiritual
worlds.
Principle explained - Guna
Tamas:  Body  /  Form.  Tamas  binds  through  inerIa  and  our
tendency  to  cling  to  situaIon  and  form.  Its  power  is  best
expressed  through  the  physical  forms,  including  our  body,  and
puts  emphasis  on  ourselves.  Must  handle  ourselves

Rajas:  Mind  /  AcIvity.  Rajas  binds  through  moIvaIon  and  our
desire  to  experience  pleasure.  It  is  shows  the  mind  and
emoIons.  It  emphasizes  on  other  people.  Must  share  equally

SaDwa:  Spirit  /  Harmony.  Sa(wa  binds  us  to  happiness  and
wisdom,  which  is  also  a  barrier  to  final  liberaIon.  It  is  the  soul
and  connects  us  to  God.  Must  give  selflessly

Neuroscience – 3 Brains
A.  We  have  3  Brains  that  are
(typically)  at  odds  with  each  other,
crea=ng  what  scien=st  call
"cogni=ve  dissonance".

~  RepAle  Brain
(protecIon,  survival,  heartbeat)
~  Mammal  Brain
(nurturing,  connecIon,  communal)
~  Human  Brain
(conceptual,  abstract,  beliefs)
Neuroscience – 3 Brains
All  Brains  are  Not  Created  Equal.
Research  has  shown  that  we  are  up  to
200%  more  moIvated  to  avoid  pain
than  we  are  to  experience  pleasure.

The  inner  repIle  and  ape  are  much
more  powerful  than  we  imagine  –  like
internal  puppeteers  controlling  us  from  within.

Usually  when  we  experience  cogniIve  dissonance  between
brains,  it  is  our  higher  aspiraIons  and  funcIons  that  suffer.
Neuroscience – 3 Brains
Rep=le  Brain  (survival)
Saturn  –  Fear  /  control
Mars  –  Anger  /  discipline

Mammal  Brain    (communion)
Venus  –  Happiness,  valuing
Mercury  –  Pa(ern  recogniIon

Human  Brain  (evolu=on)
Sun  –  Power  of  Self
Moon  –  Power  of  Love
Jupiter  –  Higher  Meaning
Neuroscience – 3 Brains
Example  #1  -‐  3  Brain  Conflict:
Personal  Growth  Challenge.
You  want  to  do  more  fulfilling  work
(like  as  as  astrologer  or  counselor).
But  your  friends  and  family  think
you  are  a  li(le  kooky.  They  see  you
a  certain  way.  On  a  deeper  level
there  is  fear  that  you  will  not  be
able  to  support  yourself  or  make
enough  money  to  survive.  So  you
stay  stuck  –  and  it  remains  a
dream.
Neuroscience – 3 Brains
Example  #2  -‐  3  Brain  Conflict:
Role  Playing  –  InteracIons  with
others  necessitates  that  we  play
many  roles,  omen  simultaneously.
This  confuses  us  as  the  3  brains  have
different  needs  and  moIvaIons.

*  Parent  /  child  relaIonship  evolving.
*  Boss  /  employee  relaIonship.
*  InImate  partners  changing  needs.
Neuroscience – 3 Brains
Change  Only  Happens  When  all  3
brains  are  involved.

When  the  conceptual  (Human),
connects  with  the  pleasurable
(Mammal)  and  the  visceral  (RepIle)
brain,  only  then  do  things  change.

We  have  to  work  from  the  bo(om  up
to  affect  change  in  our  life.  We  must
handle  our  inner  repIle  first,  and  stop
inflicIng  him  on  people!
Neuroscience – 3 Brains
Astrology,  Inner  Conflicts  and
Cogni=ve  dissonance.

In  astrology  charts  we  see  the  inner
conflicts  between  the  3  brains  as
the  planets  join  or  aspect  each
other

We  also  see  the  effects  of  the  Sign
Guna  on  the  planet  itself.
Astrology and the 3 Brains
Moon  (SaDwa)  /  Mercury
(Rajas)  Feelings  /  thoughts

Sun  (SaDwa)  /  Venus  (Rajas)
True  Power  /  Personal  desire

Saturn  (Tamas)  /  Jupiter
(SaDwa)  Hope  /  Fear

Consider  the  nature  of  Planets  influencing  each  other  through

conjuncIon  and  aspect.  Sign  guna,  element  and  dignity  reveals
nuance  /  which  planet  /  brain  is  ge}ng  the  best  or  worst  of  it.
Astrology and the 3 Brains
"Planets  in  Signs"  (not  in
conjuncIon  with  each  other)
also  show  the  3  brains  in
conflict  or  cooperaIon.

For  example,  Mars  in  Libra
would  be  interpreIng  social
situaIons  in  a  "repIlian"  way.

I  consider  the  Nodes  to  be
neutral,  not  necessarily  Tamasic.  I  have  not  seen  Parashara
refer  to  the  Nodes  as  Tamasic,  just  as  "cruel",  like  the  Sun.
Neuroscience – The RAS
B.  RAS  focuses  our  aDen=on.
How  we  see  the  world  based
on  the  interplay  between  the  3
Brains.
*  Form  beliefs  based  on  what
we  have  seen  and  experienced.
*  We  see  what  we  are  looking
for  and  negate  everything  else.
*  Filter  /  project  situaIons
through  this  perspecIve.
*  ImaginaIon  is  real  to  the  RAS
Neuroscience – The RAS
The  RAS  creates  Cogni=ve
Biases  that  distort  /  shape  our
"Reality".
*  ConfirmaIon  Bias
*  Change  Blindness
*  Herd  mentality  thinking
*  Choice-‐supporIve  Bias
*  Authority  Bias
*  The  "Devil  I  know"  Bias.
*  A  lie  becomes  a  truth  Bias
*  Base  rate  fallacy  /  neglect
Neuroscience – Myelination
Myelina=on  –  How  tendencies
become  “hard-‐wired”  habits
~  The  more  we  do  /  think
something,  the  deeper  it  becomes
“Hard  wired”  and  habitual.
Muscle  memory,  emoIon  and
thought  become  “anchored”  –
into  the  3  Brains  .
~  Karma  is  first  an  idea  –  then  an
ACTION.  AcAon  forces  one
outcome  and  excludes  others
(shown  by  the  "casino  effect")
Neuroscience – Myelination
When  I  look  at  an  astrology
chart  I  am  seeing  the
myelinaIon  paths  in  a  person’s
brain  (called  “samskaras”  in
Vedic  thought).

These  have  been  formed  by  the
person’s  acIons  through  many
lifeImes  –  and  this  one  –  the
aggregate  of  that  is    their
KARMA.
Quantum Physics - Particles
A.  Electrons  (and  smaller
par=cles)  are  seemingly
everywhere  at  once.
~  Double  slit  experiment
~  They  make  a  “Quantum  Leap”
from  one  thing  to  another.  What
exists  between  these  regions?
~  ParIcles  are  “Waves”  unIl  we
observe  them.  They  can  be
anything  /  anywhere  unIl
observed.

Quantum Physics - Particles
~  ObservaIon  /  a(enIon  forces
the  parIcle  to  appear  as
“something”  –  then  all  other
possibiliIes  disappear.
Called  the  QUANTUM  ENIGMA

~  Predictable  Probability  –
there  is  a  “raIo  of  probability”
of  certain  outcomes  –  called
the  "Casino  Effect").
(God  DOES  play  dice!)
Quantum Physics - Particles
~  Entangled  parIcles  –
observing  one  also  affects  the
other.  Einstein  termed  it
SPOOKY  ACTION
~  Einstein  was  searching  for  the
“Unified  Field”  that  explained
this  acIon.
~  Thinkers  like  John  Hagelin
propose  that  “consciousness”  is
the  unified  field.
~  I  say  "Karma"  is  the  unifield
field.  Astrology  shows  this.
Quantum Physics & Karma
As  was  said:
~  Predictable  Probability  –  there
is  a  “raIo  of  probability”  of
certain  outcomes  as  shown  by
the  Chart  factors.  (God  DOES
play  dice!)

~  We  can  know  for  certain  why
something  is  happening.  But  the
curent  choice  /  future  outcome
will  always  be  up  for  grabs.
Quantum Physics & Karma
Astrologers  first  MUST  learn  the
highest  possibility  of  any  situaIon
and  reveal  this  to  the  client.

I  describe  this  as  the  "evoluIonary
process"  of  a  planet  /  house.

No  ma(er  how  difficult  a
parIcular  energy,  at  one  Ime  or
another,  we  have  done  it  correctly
before  –  and  it  is  always  possible
to  do  it  correctly  again.
A few Conclusions:
1.  A(enIon  /  intenIon  creates  something  out  nothing  –  or
FORCES  a  result  from  the  unlimited  possibiliIes  that  exist.
(Affirmed  by  Quantum  Enigma)

2.  Each  parIcular  moment  any  choice  is  possible,  but  within
the  framework  of  THAT  moment.  The  circumstances  of  that
moment  are  determined  by  the  past  acIons  (Karma).

3.  Probability  of  one  acIon  instead  of  another  is  a  known  raIo
on  the  quantum  level  and  karmic  one.  We  can  always  guide  to
the  highest  potenIal.  (Chart  factors,  raIo  of  probability)
A few Conclusions:
4.  The  current  choice  /  outcome  is  framed  by  what  we  are
focusing  on  (RAS).

5.  AffecIng  one  thing  with  our  a(enIon  also  energeIcally
affects  something  else  that  is  entangled  with  it  (Spooky  acIon).

6.  Our  limiIng  beliefs  are  controlling  us  from  a  very  deep  level
(RAS  /  3  Brains  /  Biases),  understanding  these  brains  /  Gunas  is
key  to  unraveling  the  higher  dimensions  of  “consciousness  /
presence”.
A few Conclusions:

7.  Astrology  factors  (natal  chart,  transits,  dasas)  are  showing
the  aggregate  of  the  past  tendencies  toward  a  probable
outcome  and  the  potenIal  to  focus  on  the  highest  possibility.

8.  As  astrologers  we  need  to  always  remember  that  the
highest  /  best  outcome  is  always  a  possibility.  First  we  have  to
know  what  that  is  and  then  we  need  to  express  it  correctly.
Holistic Astrology
Astrology  is  best  learned  and
pracIced  by  going  deeply  into
the  most  important,  high-‐
leverage  concepts.

When  we  do  this,  we  can  also
connect  it  to  other  sciences,  like
yoga  and  Ayurveda,  but  also  to
Western  sciences  or  any  other
legiImate  scienIfic  framework.
