B. Long Offset
1. Use points A and B as of in Short Offset ( Parallel Lines Method)
2. Set point C far enough from AB to clear the obstruction and such
that AC makes an angle CAB not exceeding 45° but not less than
30°.
3. Determine the chord length of 𝜽 for a radius about 30.0 meters
4. Measure CE, E being any convenient point such that will be less
than 45°.
5. Measure AC and CD, CD being roughly perpendicular to AB.
6. Measure EB and EF, EF being roughly perpendicular to AB.
7. Measure the angle by determining its chord length for a radius of 30
m.
8. Determine distance AB by:
𝐴𝐵 = 𝐴𝐷 + 𝐶𝐸 + 𝐹𝐵
SKETCH:
5.32m 53°
6.10m
2.15m 3.17m
CALCULATION:
𝐴𝐵 = 𝐴𝐷 + 𝐶𝐸 + 𝐹𝐵
𝐴𝐵 = 2.15𝑚 + 6.10𝑚 + 3.17
𝐴𝐵 = 11.42𝑚
Measuring and plotting lines CD, CE, AC, FB, EF, 𝜽 and angle CAB and EBF in
accordance to Part A.
CONCLUSION:
During the process of accomplishing the procedures given in the field work 3, I
was able to concur in assigning measurements, plotting, and the utilization field work
instruments and its alternatives. I was able to determine the obstructed distance using
tape only by applying the different method and formulas under the field conditions like
how terminal points are intervisible or not. Measuring distance in an open space is
hard when obstruction is present. With the help of my co-engineers, I was able to
know the obstructed distance and also execute cooperation while planning on how to
finish the task. This task enhanced my skills in analyzing and measuring precise
distance using tape.
