SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR 1998-present CAREER SUMMARY: Initially engaged as an AS/400 Technical Support Analyst for this automotive company to operate and maintain the companys network. Moved steadily up the ranks to attain a System Administrator position in 2002. Currently supporting VoIP at Hyundai Auto Canada Corp. CONTRIBUTIONS: Simplified access to the internet by setting-up & managing ES/TCP and Host Farabi for 170 dealers and 10 vendors on a budget of $20K. Significantly reduced company paper and printing costs by installing web-based reporting using Compleo Symtrax, allowing associates to access reports in .PDF, e-mail, Excel or text formats using Web Reports from Symtrax Upgraded 3570 Tape Drive to 3580, decreasing daily back-up time from 45 minutes to 15 minutes, in addition to optimizing throughput, increasing cartridge capacity and providing superior data protection. Applied Encryption Software for iSeries data on tape for banking files, providing a reasonable $2K security solution and avoiding unnecessary costs and hassle. Eliminated the need for in-office fax machines by recommending and implementing Xmedius Fax on Windows Server to receive all incoming faxes via email. Supported companys quality control and compliance initiatives by installing a Voice Recording System for Customer Relations, Warranty and Parts Technical Departments using VPI to allow management to evaluate customer service agents performance. Saved over $38K per year in operating costs by replacing 820 system hardware with 520 hardware to provide increased disk space and more efficient processing-time, in addition to soliciting cheaper service and maintenance contracts on newly-purchased hardware systems. Created innovative operational procedures, including backup & recovery, security procedures and others. Spearheaded all PBX systems with VoIP to significantly reduce all long-distance charges, working closely with IBM vendors during the installation process. Installed and set-up Robot Alert and Robot Console to monitor and page messages, automating the process.
