II. Key Concepts
My Family

This is my family. My grandfather Lucman is a known

Imaam in our masjid in the community. He always gives
good lectures to everyone every after Maghrib prayer, so
‫اّلل‬
َ ‫ك‬ ِ
we always say َ َ‫ َحفظ‬to him as a prayer that may Allah
protect him from any dangers or evil eyes.
Every after prayer, my grandfather, father, and
brother used to greet their companions with salaam and
say to them ‫اّللُ ِمنَا َو ِمْن ُك ْم‬
َ ‫ تَ َقبَ َل‬as a prayer that May Allah
accept our good deeds from us and from them.
Every night after eating dinner we always have small
talks to gain new knowledge in Islam. It is my favorite time
because we are all gathered. We say َ ِ‫ لَْي لَةٌ َسع‬hoping for
ٌ‫يدة‬
a good night sleep to everyone before going to sleep.

Unlocking:

‫اّلل‬
َ ‫ك‬ ِ
َ َ‫( َحفظ‬hafiẑakallāh) – This means “May Allah protect
you”. We usually use it to pray to
Allah to protect someone we
love.

‫اّللُ ِمنَا َو ِمْن ُك ْم‬

َ ‫تَ َقبَ َل‬ (Taqabbalallāhu Minnā wa Minkum) –
This means “May Allah accept our
good deeds from us and from them”.
We use it as a prayer that May Allah
accept our good deeds.

َ ِ‫( لَْي لَةٌ َسع‬Laylatun Saḙīdah) – This means “good night”.

ٌ‫يدة‬
We can use it as an expression to wish
