S/4HANA new installation/upgrade Sizing

This article will provide comprehensive insights into the options and tools available for
sizing SAP S/4HANA, both for new installations and upgrades. It aims to address key
questions related to the sizing process and provide a clear understanding of how to
execute memory, CPU, and disk storage sizing for S/4HANA.

Executing S/4HANA Sizing:

To determine the appropriate sizing for S/4HANA, you can utilize the SAP-specific tool
called the S4HANA Quick Sizer. This tool is applicable to both greenfield (new)
installations and existing ECC systems. You can access the S4HANA Quick Sizer from the
provided link and initiate the tool:

While the term "quick sizing" might imply a simple process, it's important to note that
the tool is quite advanced and requires a substantial amount of input to generate
accurate sizing recommendations.

How to fill the quick sizer is explained in OSS note 2467172 - How to size Fiori applications
based on number of users - SAP for Me .

Memory Sizing for Converting Existing Systems:

For converting an existing ECC system to S/4HANA, SAP has introduced a useful tool to
assist with memory sizing. To begin, apply the OSS note 1872170 - ABAP on HANA sizing
report (S/4HANA, Suite on HANA...) - SAP for Me– Business Suite on HANA and S/4HANA
Sizing Report in your current ECC system. This note will make available the ABAP report
/SDF/HDB_SIZING. It's recommended to initially test this report in a development
system and subsequently transport it to the production environment for actual sizing
calculations.
Best to execute in the background. You can then get the results in the spool of the
batch job.
The results give an as good as possible estimation of memory sizing after the database
conversion.

CPU sizing for S/4HANA

More details on CPU sizing can be found in 1793345 - Sizing for SAP Suite on HANA - SAP for Me.

Disk space sizing for S/4HANA

Disc space storage sizing for S/4HANA depends on data aging please see below notes

2869647 - Guidance for use of Data Aging in SAP S/4HANA - SAP for Me

2416490 - FAQ: SAP HANA Data Aging in SAP S/4HANA - SAP for Me

OSS notes

Before running the /SDF/HDB_SIZING program it is best to update it with the most
recently available updates: 3104284 - HANA memory Sizing report - Advanced correction 15 - SAP
for Me and 3149498 - HANA memory Sizing report - Advanced correction 16 - SAP for Me.
