ELIGIBILITY
Subject to Age Limit (Born on or After 01-01-2003),
the following players are eligible to play:
1. Only Indian Nationals are eligible to participate.
Every affiliated District Chess Association/Special Unit of TNSCA is entitled to

Any player who pays the prescribed Special entry fee: Rs. 1000/- may be

In addition to above the following Districts can field additional entries by virtue of
three medal winners (Gold, Silver and Bronze) secured by their players in the last
Tamil Nadu State (Under-19) Open & Girls Chess Championship 2021 held at

Boys: Gold – (3) & Bronze (1) Chennai, Silver – (2) Virudhunagar
Girls: Gold – (3) Chennai, Silver – (2) Kanyakumari & Bronze (1) – Salem
10. Any current National Champion in any category is to be seeded to All State
championships subject to age stipulation.
11. Any current National No. 2 and 3 are to be seeded to the same category State
Championship subject to age stipulation.
12. Any current World Champion in any category is to be seeded to All State
Championships subject to age stipulation.
13. Any current World No. 2 and 3 are to be seeded to the same + one step higher
State championships subject to age stipulation.
14. Any Current Asian Champion is to be seeded to the same plus one step higher
state championship subject to age stipulation.
15. Any Current Asian No. 2 and 3 are to be seeded to the same category subject to
age stipulation.
16 All GMs, WGMs, IMs and WIMs are eligible to play as seeded players in the eligible
category

Rules and Regulations:


Age Eligibility Those born on or after 01.01.2003 are eligible to participate. Age proof is required. Certificate should
be from the Panchayat/Municipality or corporation obtained soon after birth. Players without the
date of birth certificate will not be allowed to participate. As per the rules of AICF, only players
whose dates of birth are registered within one year of their birth are permitted to take part
in respective age group State/ Nationals. Other country passport holders shall not be allowed to
participate in the State Chess Championship.
Boarding &Lodging: Free Dormitory type of rooms will be provided to Seeded/Selected players only. Players are
requested to bring their own beddings. All special entries and accompanying persons have to
arrange accommodation of their own. Hotels are available near by the tournament hall.
Players are who in need of accommodation are requested to fill-in the gform given below.

AICF Player Single window registration of AICF, TNSCA and the District Association will be followed with a
Registration: payment of Rs.250/- for all the three registrations put together. The player registrations will be
accepted only through online on www.aicf.in. Players / Arbiters registration should be done well
before the start of event (Tournament). For renewing AICF registration of existing players, please click

registration/ For fresh AICF registration, players are requested to keep their scanned passport size
photograph and birth certificate and a valid email address (unique) not used by any other person/
player for AICF, ready before the registration process. Note: Only Passport size (less than 1MB)
photographs in jpeg format should be uploaded.
Default Time Default time is 15 minutes. Players have to be at the boards within 15 minutes from the start of the round.
Rules: FIDE rules in force shall apply.
System of play: The Tournament shall be conducted on a nine rounds Swiss System.
Time Control: 90 minutes each plus 30 seconds increment from the move one.
Tie-break Buchholz Cut 1, Buchholz, Sonneborn Berger Direct encounter, and number of wins (forfeit included) & &
Number of wins with Black pieces tie-break rules will be applied. In case of tie, prizes will not be shared.
Chess Clocks: Each association is requested to provide at least two chess clocks for every four players.
Wrist Watches AICF has banned the wrist watches while playing in FIDE Rated events. Players are instructed not
to wear wrist watches while playing. It will lead to loss of the game.
Appeals Committee: An Appeals Committee comprising five members plus two reserves will be formed at the managers
meeting. All the members and reserves shall be from different districts. No member of the committee can
vote on dispute in which a player from his own district is involved and in such case(s), the reserve member
takes his/her place. The decision of the appeals committee is final and binding on all players concerned.
Tournament The tournament committee consisting of the General Secretary, TNSCA or his representative, and
Committee: representative from another district to be nominated by the TNSCA shall decide on all emergency matters .

Protest: Protest, if any against the decision of the Chief arbiter shall be made in writing with a protest fee of
Rs.500/- within 15 minutes of the incident. The decisions of the appeals committee shall be final and
binding on all concerned. The protest fee is a refundable one if the protest is upheld.
Withdrawals: A player may withdraw from the tournament at any stage after informing the Chief Arbiter in writing.
Arrears: The players belonging to Districts which are in arrears to TNSCA will not be allowed to take part.
Rights of Admission: The TNSCA/organizer TDCDA reserves the rights of admission to the venue and lodging place.
Silence in the Strict silence must be observed in the Tournament Hall. Players who have finished their games shall
Tournament Hall not remain in the tournament hall. Players shall not analyze the game in the tournament hall.
Instruction to the While sending the entries, District Chess Associations should certify that the players have been duly
District Chess selected from the selection/District Chess Championship giving details of venue and date. If such a

In view of COVID – 19
All players/officials/arbiters/ accompanying persons have to wear face
masks in the tournament hall. Also all players/official/ arbiters/
accompanying persons have to strictly follow the Tamil Nadu Government
guidelines to avoid the spread of the COVID – 19.
