• D IS M A N TLIN G :
- Remove plugs (1).
- Screw an M 6 threaded rod into guide hole (2).
- Remove guides (2) and springs (4) fitted w ith valves (3).
- Scrap 0 seal (5) and counter seal (6).
- Remove seat (7) w ith a m agnetic pin (when difficult, use a
small extractor).
Visually check state of guide groove, of compression spring,
of valve and of seat.

• REASSEMBLY:
Fit seats (7) in casing.
W ARNING :
Valve seats are reversible, select side not marked by valve.
Check their position w ith a screwdriver.
- Fit new complete seals (5-6) in their groove (grease position
of seals in casing to facilitate assembly).
- Grease and fit springs (4), valves (3), in guide (2).
- Fit complete guides, push them into their housing w ith
threaded rod.
- Fit plugs and tighten to torque.
(see page 10).

• DISMANTLING :
- Strip down pump.
- Remove key 1.
- Remove stop ring (2) w ith stop ring pliers (FACOM 479).
- Remove seal holder flange (3) w ith tw o screwdrivers.
- Scrap 0 ring (4) and sealing ring (5).
Visually check seating of sealing ring.

• REASSEMBLY:
- Fit washer (6) in bottom of flange groove (3).
- Fit a new sealing ring (5) (after having greased it) in flange
w ith a suitable mandrel.
- Fit a new O ring (4).
- Place relevant guide ring on shaft.
- Drive home flange and then remove guide ring.
- Fit stop ring (2) and key (1).

• DISMANTLING :
- Close reservoir valve.
- Drain pump casing.
- Unlock and dism ount securing screws (1).
- Mark position of pipe in relation to casing.
- Take down pipe (2), scrap seal (3) and lock washers (4).
Visually check state of thrust surfaces and seal groove.

• REASSEMBLY:
- Fit a new 0 seal (3).
- Fit pipe in accordance w ith marks made before disassembly.
- Fit screws (1) w ith new lock washers (4) and tighten to
torque.

• DISMANTLING :
- Drain and strip down pump.
- Place pump w ith cylinder head on top.
- Remove securing screws (2) and scrap washers (3).
- Remove cylinder head w ith pistons (4), mark parts to be
re-utilised.
- Remove pads (5).
- Scrap cylinder head gasket (6).
Visually inspect condition of each part.
PISTONS OR PADS MUST BE REPLACED TOGETHER.

• REASSEMBLY:
- Stick pads (5), to crankshaft w ith grease.
W W ARNING :
Pads of pumps 4 H 18, 4 H 20, 6 H 18, and 6 H 20 have a
direction of assembly. Lubrication groove (A) must be placed
on suction side corresponding to direction of rotation.
- Oil piston assemblies (4) and fit in cylinder head.
- Fit a new cylinder head gasket (6).
- Fit gasket while holding piston.
- Make sure that pistons are in their housing on pads.
- Place cylinder head in contact w ith casing by means of tw o
screws longer than securing screws.
- Fit screws on new washers and tighten.
- Replace the tw o long assembly screws.
- Tighten to torque follow ing order given.

• DISMANTLING :
- Drain pump and strip down.
- Remove cylinder head(s) (1).
• - Remove seal holder flange (2).
- Remove inlet flange (3).
- Place pump in position fo r use of press.
- Drive out crankshaft (4).
- Separate bearings (5-6) by means of a FACOM U53 M
separator and a FACOM U 53 E extractor.
- Dismount extractor and extract bearings bymeans ofa
FACOM U 20 extractor.
Check state of parts visually.

• REASSEMBLY:
- Fit inner bearing ring (5), previously heated in oil to 80°C.
- Fit relative spacer in casing (7). This spacer replaces exterior
bearing ring (5).
- Insert crankshaft (4) in casing.
- Place w hole unit on its base plate by press.
- Fit bearing (6) by means of a suitable mandrel.
- Refit seal holder flange (2).
- Refit cylinder head(s) (1).
- Extract spacer.
- Check position of pads (8).
- Fit outer bearing ring (5) in casing by press, using corres­
ponding base plate.
- Fit inlet flange (3).
