Reasearch Question - How has climate change affected the global temperature

and the polar regions?

INTRODUTION
Climate Change have become a huge problem over the past few years. Earth’s
temperature has risen by an average of 0.11° Fahrenheit (0.06° Celsius) . This
warmer temperatures which has increased for the past few years are having
huge impacts in the Arctic region. Sea ice is melting, frozen ground (called
permafrost) is thawing, and habitat is shrinking for wildlife that rely on cold
temperatures. Arctic sea ice cover is shrinking at a rate of 13% per decade. This
high rising of the temperature have caused to destroy the major habitats of
polar bears and penguins. This problem must be investigated and resolved
because if this problem happens to continue it will have huge impacts on the
human life.

CAUSES
 Greenhouse gas emissions have increased the greenhouse effect which
have caused the earth's atmospheric and surface temperature to rise
instantly.
 Deforestation is even one of the main causes of the rising of the
temperature , because when deforestation occurs the Carbon dioxide
stored inside the trees are released back to the environment.
 Landfill gasses are roughly 50% carbon dioxide (CO2) and 50% methane
(CH4), both of these are potent greenhouse gases. Methane, in
particular, is over 25 times more potent at trapping heat in the
atmosphere than carbon dioxide so when the heat is trapped and not
released the temperature rises.

Consequences
 When the temperature rises it causes the ice caps and glaciers to
melt the melting of ice caps can affect the polar regions by destroying
their habitats and also the melting of ice caps and glaciers can also
cause the sea levels to rise.
 When the climate heats up it may cause a change of rainfall patterns
because of that change it may cause the decreasing of water quality
and also it may decrease the avability of freshwater.
 One of the major consequences of rising temperature is the loss of
species mainly including the species living in polar regions the
increasing of the temperature may harm many species by common
illnesses such as heat stroke, heat cramps and hyperthermia.

GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES
The scientific community have warned that warming of more than
1.5°C risks have far more severe climate change impacts and extreme
weather and every of a degree of warming matters. Even at current
levels of global warming, there are already devastating climate
impacts. The scientist has told that if this problem is not sorted out it
may become a huge impact and maybe it will bring humans to an end
,because of the rising of the poisonous gases .

NATIONAL PERSPECTIVES
Sri Lankan government and the people are highly concerned about
the rising of temperatures. Sri Lanka faces significant risks from
extreme weather events, such as floods, droughts, and heatwaves,
which can impact agriculture, water supply, and biodiversity. The
government and people are working on many strategies, such as
improving water management, promoting sustainable agriculture,
and raising awareness about climate change . There's also a growing
emphasis on renewable energy and conservation efforts to mitigate
these challenges. Overall, the rising of temperature is viewed as a
dangerous problem.

KEY SOLOUTIONS
 One key solution to prevent the rising of temperature is to use
renewable energy such as solar ,wind , hydro , geothermal and
biomass energies. Producing clean energy is essential, but reducing
our consumption of energy and water by using more devices that can
save the energy (e.g., LED light bulbs, innovative shower systems) LED
bulbs save 90% of the energy.
 Another solution is to embrace yourself in electric cars and non-
motorized options . This will reduce the carbon dioxide released from
the motors and will also reduce the Methane even .
 By reducing greenhouse gasses such as Carbon dioxide (CO2), Methane
(CH4), Nitrous oxide (N2O) and also ingustrial gases can make the heat
trapped in atmosphere to be reduced .
