DC Cables up to 10mm2
The section herein describes general specifications for DC cables up to and including 10mm2
cables that shall be used for PV module interconnection and string cabling up to the combiner
box.
Standards, Codes and Reference Documents
Cables shall be compliant to most recent standards and any latest amendments developed by the
IEC and EN for UV resistant DC cables for solar PV applications. Table 1‐1 indicates list of standards
to which DC cables should conform.

Cable Design
DC PV cables of size up to 10mm² should have following properties :
Flexible Annealed Tinned Copper Conductor as per Class 5 of EN 60228.
Insulation: Halogen free thermosetting, electron beam Cross‐linked Polyolefin
compound.
Outer sheath: Halogen free, low smoke, Flame Retardant Black color, electron beam
Cross‐linked Polyolefin compound (XLPO), UV resisitant,anti‐termite and anti‐
rodent.
Cables Operating temperature range shall be from ‐50°C to +120°C.
