SAP : Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing

SAP HANA is a multi-model database that stores data in its memory instead of
keeping it on a disk.

SAP BW/4HANA
It is a data warehouse tool that helps businesses store, organize, and analyze
their data. It is designed to work really well with SAP HANA, a high-speed

InfoArea:
InfoAreas are like folders that help organize different objects, such as
InfoProviders, InfoObjects, InfoSources, open hub destinations, and process
chains. These folders make it easier to find and manage these objects in the
system.
OR

InfoArea is nothing but a folder which is used to store your repository

information.

The BW Repository in a BW project is like a folder that shows the structure of
the data in the connected system. It organizes the data into different
categories, making it easier to find and manage.

In SAP BW/4HANA, a DataSource is an object that extracts and stages data

from a source system, and provides metadata about the source data.
DataSource is a tool that helps you pull data from other systems and prepares
it for use. It also gives you information (metadata) about the data, like where it
came from and what kind of data it is.

Metadata is like a description that explains the structure and details of objects
in the system. It helps you understand and manage the different parts of the
system better. You can use metadata to:

Access Information: Find out more about objects like InfoObjects (data
elements), InfoProviders (data storage), and web applications.

View Properties: Check the details or features of these objects.

InfoObjects:
They are used to provide essential business and technical information and the
handling rules for each entity.
One of the very first tasks is to define all infoObjects that we require.

Attributes in SAP BW4hana are characteristics that provide additional
information about other characteristics(InfoObjects).
There are several types of attributes in SAP BW4hana, including:

Display attributes:These attributes are dependent on the main

characteristic and can only be presented in reporting tools with the main
characteristic.

Navigational attributes: These attributes act as characteristics at the query

level and can be used for filtering and restricting. They can be created from
characteristic attributes and selected in the query in the same way as
characteristics.

Note : Always activate any object, ex - InfoObject before proceeding further.
