ASMO NATIONAL ROUND 2024 CONTEST GUIDELINE

Attention to all candidates, please read the guideline carefully. If you have further
queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

1. The contest link will be opened on 12th October 2024 and according to the
time slot given below.

2. The contest will start on time. Please get yourself ready at least 15 minutes before
the contest. The link will be closed after each slot and NO EXTRA TIME will
be given to all the candidates.

3. Once you click the link, you need to allocate :


 1 hour for ASMO Science Primary & Secondary
 1 hour 15 minutes for ASMO Maths Primary & ASMO English Primary
 1 hour 30 minutes for ASMO English Secondary
 2 hours for ASMO Maths Secondary

4. NO USERNAME AND PASSWORD needed for this contest. ONLY fill in


your details : name, ic or passport number, valid email, school name, grade / year
/ standard.

5. The contest link given is NOT A TRIAL LINK. It is the REAL CONTEST
LINK and for ONE TIME ATTEMPT ONLY. If we found out any of the
candidates submitted the form twice or more than that, we will DISQUALIFIED
you from the contest.

6. The link is NOT AUTO SUBMIT. You need to click the Submit button once
you finish. Answers for late submission or after the link is close will not be
recorded.

7. Please make sure you received the correct contest link.


- Maths is based on grade. Grade 1 = Year 1 = Primary 1 = Standard 1
- Science and English is based on level.
 Level 1 is for Grade/Year/Standard 1 and 2.
 Level 2 is for Grade/Year/Standard 3 and 4.
 Level 3 is for Grade/Year/Standard 5 and 6.
 Level 4 is for Grade/Year/Secondary 7 and 8.
 Level 5 is for Grade/Year/Secondary 9 and 10
 Level 6 is for Grade/Year/Secondary 11 and 12.

GUIDELINE ON HOW TO SET UP ZOOM MEETING

Before The Contest Day

1. Please check and get your devices ready in advance. Participants are advised to
test the devices earlier to avoid unnecessary issues on the contest day.

Device 1 - Laptop/PC/Smartphone/Tablet/iPad (To view and answer contest)

Device 2 - Smartphone/Tablet/iPad (To join Zoom meeting - Camera MUST be


switched on)

The device 2 should be placed in a position where our invigilator can view the
computer screen, the participants, and the area where participants answer the
contest questions. You may refer to the example shown in APPENDIX A.
If found any participants join Zoom meeting using two devices, you will be
automatically DISQUALIFIED and will be remove from Zoom (for both
device).

2. Download and install Zoom apps in your device 2 (Smartphone/Tablet/iPad) 1 or


2 days before the contest.

On The Contest Day

1. Participants are required to enter the Zoom Meeting (as assigned to you) 10
minutes before your contest time and you are COMPULSORY to rename your
Zoom Name as follows:

1. Kindly refer to the timeslot provided for details. For those who do not follow the
rules as required may not be allowed into the Zoom Meeting on the contest day.

2. Once you have entered the Zoom meeting, please enter your breakout room
accordingly. Keep your camera ON and silent your microphone. You will be
DISQUALIFIED if you are not turning your camera on and will be remove
from the Zoom meeting.

3. Please be reminded that you MAY NOT leave your seat without permission.
Please chat the invigilator in the chat box for the permission. You are required to
return to your seat within 5 minutes or else you will be automatically disqualified
from the contest.

4. If you have any requests or inquiries, please raise your hand to notify the
invigilator and wait for the response from the invigilator.

5. Please take note that if the participants cannot attend the contest, we do not
accept any replacement participants. If found any, the participants will be
disqualified automatically.

APPENDIX A
From the invigilators view

Your camera must be positioned according to the angle as the picture below. This
shown the position of the computer/laptop screen, the participant, and the area where
participant answers the contest questions.

1. Make sure your screen can be seen.


2. Make sure your table can be seen and clear without any unrelated source except
dictionary (T&C) and guideline on how to key in the answer key.
3. Make sure your mic is off during the contest.
4. Make sure your camera is on during the whole contest.

REMINDER
 Each participant must have two devices for this contest. Any reason caused
by hardware malfunction or instability of connection will not be entertained
and be borne by ASMO Team. Any resetting request will not be entertained
by organizer.

Notes:
For participants which are siblings with same slot that are sharing the
device 2 (Smartphone/Tablet/iPad - for monitoring), you need to adjust
your camera accordingly so that the invigilator can see you through the
camera. Please inform ASMO Team one day before the contest regarding
the device 2 sharing.

 During the contest day, each participants need to:


– Be ready and standby in front of your screen 10 minutes earlier.
– Open Zoom meeting platform
– Open the Webcam/camera
– Turn off the Microphone
– Rename your Zoom name

 Participants are only allowed to look straight at their screen/webcam and


look down only to answer their paper. Any other movements will be
considered as malpractice and are potentially to be disqualified.

 Make sure the surrounding is free from noise disturbance. No voices are
allowed during the contest especially third party’s voice. Only participants
are allowed to be seen in the screen.

 Participants may forward their queries (if any) through chat function to
invigilators. Use English language to communicate.
