DISTRICT CAMPUS JOURNALISM TRAINING CUM WRITESHOP

1. The DepEd Quezon District announces the conduct of the District Campus
Journalism Training Cum Writeshop on February 25, 2023 at Quezon District
Conference Hall.
2. This Campus Journalism Training Cum Writeshop is in accordance with RA 7079
otherwise known as Campus Journalism Act of 1991 and in compliance with
DepEd Order No. 47, s. 2010 entitled Guidelines on Financial Subsidy for the
Conduct of National Schools Press Conference (NSPC), its Implementing Rules
and Regulations specifically Rule IX of Section 1.
3. The training aims to:
a. deepen teachers’ journalistic competencies and awareness;
b. enrich teachers’ journalistic learning experiences by providing them venues
to hone their potential as journalism coaches;
c. promote the development and growth of campus journalism as a means of
strengthening ethical values, encouraging critical and creative thinking, and
developing moral character and personal discipline;
d. give guidance on appropriate writing pedagogies in campus journalism
based on the teachers’ and learners’ needs and context; and
e. foster responsible journalism.
4. The following topics will be facilitated with presentations and writeshops.
a) News Writing
b) Editorial Writing
c) Feature Writing
d) Sci-Tech Writing
e) Sports Writing
f) Editorial Cartooning
g) Column Writing
h) Photojournalism
i) Copyediting and Headline Writing
j) School Paper Writing and Lay-outing

5. The participants to this training are the journalism coaches from the public
elementary schools in the district, School Paper Advisers, Officers of Quezon
District School Paper Advisers Association (QDSPAA), and elementary school
heads.
6. The District Training shall be organized and managed by Mrs. Girlie C. Hidalgo,
District Journalism Coordinator, and Mrs. Mary T. Capuyan, Co-Coordinator,
with Mrs. Rachelle C. Fernandez, Teacher-III of Barucboc Elementary School,
Barucboc, Quezon, Isabela as the Training Proponent.
7. The Training writeshop is on a self-provisioned scheme.
8. All necessary guidelines and health protocols needed in the conduct of the
conference shall be strictly followed.
9. Immediate dissemination of this Memorandum is desired.
