Reflection ▪ Principles behind the teaching
What principles and beliefs informed my lesson? Why did I teach the lesson the way I did?
In teaching perfect squares, perfect cubes, square roots, and cube roots, I focused on helping students understand the concepts instead of just memorizing
them. I used real-life examples and geometric ideas, like linking perfect squares to area and perfect cubes to volume. To keep students engaged, I included group
discussions and hands-on activities, making learning more interactive. I also encouraged a growth mindset, reminding students that learning takes time and
practice. By showing how these math concepts apply in everyday life, like calculating volume, I aimed to help students see the value of math in the real world
and support them in mastering these important ideas.

Students
What roles did my students play in my lesson? What did my students learn? How did they learn?
In my lesson on perfect squares, perfect cubes, square roots, and cube roots, my students played an active role by participating in group discussions and hands-on
activities. They learned how to identify and calculate perfect squares and cubes, as well as how to find square roots and cube roots. They learned this by working
together to solve problems, using real-life examples, and exploring concepts through practical exercises. This interactive approach helped them understand the
material better and see its relevance in everyday life.

Ways forward

What could I have done differently? What can I explore in the next lesson?
I could have provided more visual aids or videos, to help students better understand the concepts of perfect squares and cubes. In the
next lesson, I can explore real-world applications of these concepts, such as how they relate to areas in architecture or volume in packaging.
Additionally, I could introduce more challenging problems to push students further and deepen their understanding.
