Overview
These instructions are intended for the installation and service of the Wireless module.

CAUTION: This kit instruction is for use by qualified personnel. Adequate system knowledge is required to
accurately interpret some of the terms and instructions contained herein.

Note: The frequency bands and limits at which the radio operates are the following:

Both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands are considered part of the unlicensed Industrial, Scientific, and
Medical (ISM) band of frequencies. There are multiple transmitters. However, they do not operate at
the same time.

Prior to installing the kit, inspect to ensure the following part numbers are present on the system:
 Workstation eBox, PN 5427730-11 or later
 Workstation rear connector panel, PN 5765554
If these parts are not present on the system, contact technical support.

Additional Materials, Tools and Test Equipment


Prior to installing the kit, ensure that you have the materials listed below.
 Standard service tools
 Torx drivers, T10, T15 and T20
 Nut driver, 11/32"
 DVI-D to DVI-D Cable, PN 5431677 (Used to connect the Wireless Module to Workstation
video input during setup)
 Ethernet cable for connecting to facility network
 Windows USB keyboard/trackpad or Windows USB keyboard and USB mouse
(The Workstation keyboard/trackpad can be used if it is present)

Covers Removal
Rear electronics cover
1. Using a T15 Torx driver, remove the 6-32 x ½" Torx head screw that secures the power
cord bracket on the back of the Workstation. Set the screw aside, remove the power cord
bracket and disconnect the power cord.

2. Remove the hole plugs from the rear electronics cover and set them aside.
3. Using a T20 Torx driver, remove the seven 8-32 x ½" Torx head screws that secure the
Workstation rear electronics cover. Set the screws aside and pull the cover away from
the Workstation.

Front electronics cover
1. Remove the hole plugs from the front electronics cover and set them aside.
2. Using a T20 Torx driver, remove the two 8-32 x ½" Torx head screws that secure the
Workstation front electronics cover. Set the screws aside and remove the cover.

3. Loosen the screw on the eBox front cover. Remove the eBox front cover by pulling the
cover slightly out and sliding it to the right

Installing the Wireless module


1. Connect the Wireless module power cable (PN 5764255) to the top two pins of the six pin
connector located to the right of the heat sink on the eBox motherboard.

2. Viewing from inside the ebox, connect the ETH4 end of Ethernet cable (PN 5765574-01) to
the left coupler located inside the eBox.

3. Viewing from inside the ebox, connect the ETH3 end of Ethernet cable (PN 5765574-02) to
the right coupler located inside the eBox.
4. Obtain the Wireless module from the kit (PN 5760049). Plug the Wireless module power
cable connector (A1A1J2) into the top connector at the left side of the Wireless module
and tighten the cable nut.

5. Viewing from the inside of the eBox, connect the Ethernet cable coming from the left side
coupler (ETH4) to the top Ethernet port (WSP ETH1) at the left side of the Wireless module.
Connect the Ethernet cable coming from the right side coupler (ETH3) to the bottom
Ethernet port (WSP ETH2) at the left side of the Wireless module

6. Taking care not to pinch any of the connected cables, install the Wireless module into the
eBox. Using a T10 right angle Torx driver, install the two 4-40 x 5/16" Torx head screws
(PN 12-225104-05) to secure the Wireless module bracket to the inside of the eBox.

7. Using a T10 Torx driver, install the two 4-40 x 5/16" Torx head screws (PN 12-225104-05)
(one at the top and one at the bottom) to secure the Wireless module at the right side of
the eBox.

8. At the eBox connector panel, disconnect the cable from ETH1 and connect it into ETH3.

9. Install Ethernet jumper cable (PN 5765574-03) , connecting one end into ETH4 and the
other end into the now open ETH1.

10. Remove the storage bin from the Workstation rear storage cover and set it aside.
11. Remove the hole plugs from the rear storage cover and set them aside.
12. Using a T20 Torx driver, remove the two 8-32 x ½" Torx head screws from the bottom of
the rear storage cover and the two 8-32 x ⅝" Torx head screws from the back of the
cover. Set the screws aside.

13. Using a non-marring pry tool, carefully pry the rear storage cover away from the
underside of the Workstation platform. Remove the rear storage cover by pulling it down
and away from the Workstation to gain access to the Workstation connector panel.
14. Using a 11/32" nut driver, remove the 8-32 four hex nuts (two at the left side and two at
the right side) that secure the Workstation connector panel.

15. Using a ¼" nut driver, remove the two nuts that secure the slot plate cover on the
Workstation connector panel. Set the nuts aside and remove and discard the slot plate
cover.

16. From the kit, obtain and install the LED end of the WIFI Disable and Status cable into the
Workstation connector panel with the ground wire on the left post. Using a ¼" nut driver,
reinstall the two nuts to secure the WIFI Disable and Status cable to the Workstation
connector panel.

17. Using a 11/32" nut driver, reinstall the 8-32 four hex nuts (two at the left side and two at
the right side) to secure the Workstation connector panel.

18. Feed the WIFI Disable and Status cable through the loop located on the underside of the
Workstation platform.

19. Feed the WIFI Disable and Status cable down through the left side column (as viewed
from the rear) of the Workstation, working from top to bottom, and out through the cable
cutout at the front of the Workstation.

20. Connect the WIFI Disable and Status cable to the Wireless module (A1J7) at right side of
the eBox as shown below.

21. From the kit obtain one antenna cable (5764258 ). Install the connector into the top of the
eBox as indicated by the upper red arrow shown below.

22. Connect the other end of the cable to the left connector (Main) on the wireless module as
indicated by the lower red arrow shown above.

23. From the kit, obtain one antenna cable (PN 5764258 ). Install the connector into the left
side of the eBox as indicated by the red arrow shown below.

24. Connect the other end of the cable to the right connector (Aux) on the wireless module.
25. Secure the antenna cables to the eBox using the square plastic anchor and 3 cable ties.
26. From the kit obtain the two antennas (PN 5764264) and install the antennas to the top
and side connectors on the eBox. Orient the antenna’s as shown below.

Setting up the Wireless module
1. Reinstall the rear electronics cover and connect the power cord to the back of the
Workstation.

2. From the kit, obtain and connect the DisplayPort to DVI-D adapter (5777282) to the
DisplayPort on the left side of the Wireless module as shown below.

3. Connect a DVI-D to DVI-D cable to the adapter (supplied by FSE) as shown.

4. Connect the other end of the DVI-D cable to the Workstation connector panel video input as
shown below.

5. Plug the keyboard/mouse into the USB port on the left side of the Wireless module as shown
below.

6. Power on the Workstation and allow the system to boot.


7. At the back of the Workstation, turn on the WIFI Disable and Status cable switch (up position).

8. On the Workstation touchscreen, select Applications, then External Video to see the screen
display as shown below.

9. Select Display.

Configuring the Wireless module


1. Using the keyboard/mouse that is plugged into the wireless module, login to Windows 10 of
the Wireless module using the password: geoecwisp.

2. Double click the Unprotect icon on the Windows desktop, allow the wireless module to
reboot and login. Wait for the background to turn red. The system is ready to be configured.

Rename Wireless computer name


1. Left click on the Windows Start Menu, open the Field Service folder, and click on the Rename
WiSP icon.

2. Enter the Workstation serial number in the field of the dialog box that appears as shown
below and click OK.

3. Allow the Wireless module to reboot. The Wireless computer name change will be visible.
Verify the change by right-clicking on the Windows tile in the Start Menu and then right click
on System.

4. The Serial number, prefixed with WISP, will be in the computer name field as shown below.

Wired (LAN) Connection Setup
(Wireless Module to Facility Network)
1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the back of the Workstation and then
connect to the facility network.
Note: An external configured wired or wireless connection needs to be configured prior to setting up
the “To Workstation” connection. The “To Workstation” connection is disabled unless an
external connection is present.
2. From the Windows 10 desktop, double click Network Settings icon.

3. Double click the Local Area Connection icon, then select Properties.

4. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPV4), then Properties.

Note: Before performing the following step, consult with the facility IT administrator to determine
whether to use Static or DCHP addressing to configure the wired network on the Workstation.
5. Configure the external Local Area Connection using Static or DHCP addressing. If using DHCP
addressing, select Obtain an IP address automatically. If using Static addressing, select Use
the following IP address and enter the numbers obtained from the IT Administrator into the
IP address, Subnet mask, and Default gateway fields.

6. Press OK, then Close.


7. Disconnect the Ethernet network cable from the back of the Workstation.

Wireless Network Connection Setup
1. Turn on the WIFI Disable and Status cable switch (up position). The blue LED should illuminate.
2. Double click the Wireless Network Connection, then select Properties.

3. Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPV4), then Properties.

Note: Before performing the following step, consult with the facility IT administrator to determine
whether to use Static or DCHP addressing to configure the wireless network on the
Workstation.

4. Configure the external Wireless Network Connection using Static or DHCP addressing. If using
DHCP addressing, select Obtain an IP address automatically. If using Static addressing,
select Use the following IP address and enter the numbers obtained from the IT
Administrator into the IP address, Subnet mask, and Default gateway fields.

5. Select the Wi-Fi icon in the Windows 10 taskbar. This will allow you to see the wireless
networks that can be connected to.

Note: Before performing the following step, obtain the Network and Password from the facility
IT administrator.
6. Connect to the facility wireless network and enter password.
7. When connected to an authenticated wireless network the status LED on the back of the
Workstation should illuminate green.

Verify “Ethernet Adapter To Workstation” IP Address
and Subnet Mask
1. From Windows 10 home screen, click on Command Prompt.
2. Type ipconfig and then press enter.
Note: The command prompt window may take up to 30 seconds to display completely.
3. Verify the “Ethernet adapter To Workstation” IPV4 Address and Subnet Mask numbers match
those shown below.

4. Exit the Command Prompt window.


5. Exit the External Video screen on the Workstation by clicking on the “x” found at the bottom
right corner of the screen.

Workstation to Wireless Module Network Connection Setup


1. On the Workstation navigate to network setup screen (Applications>Setup>Network
Configuration).

2. Uncheck Use DHCP. Enter 192.168.137.2 as the IP address with a subnet mask of
255.255.255.0. Configure the default gateway IP to 192.168.137.1 (Wireless module).

3. Press Ping/Trace to ping the Wireless module.


4. Enter 192.168.137.1 in the Destination field. Press Ping. A successful Ping is indicated by
a response of equal packets transmitted and received.

Wireless Network Port Sharing
Note: Before performing the following steps, obtain the DICOM IP address and port number used for
configuration from the facility IT administrator. Incoming DICOM connections require ports to
be open.
1. From the Windows 10 desktop, double click Network Settings icon.

2. Double click the Wireless Network Connection, then select Properties.

Note: If the sharing tab is not available, ensure that the connection being configured is connected to
the network.

3. Open Sharing tab.

4. Click on Settings.
5. Go to the DICOM Retrieve option.

6. Verify the IP Address is set as shown below.

7. Verify the port number for this service matches the customer’s DICOM port number (TCP is
default). This is configurable per Customer.

Wired Local Area Connection Port Sharing
1. Turn off WIFI Disable and Status cable switch (down position). Ensure that the wired Ethernet
network cable is connected to the back of the Workstation.
2. Double click the Local Area Connection icon, then select Properties.

Note: If the sharing tab is not available, ensure that the connection being configured is connected to
the network.
3. Open Sharing tab.

4. Click on Settings.

5. Go to the DICOM Retrieve option.

6. Verify the IP Address is set as shown below.

7. Verify the port number for this service matches the customer’s DICOM port number (TCP is
default). This is configurable per Customer.

Saving changes
1. Exit the Network Settings windows.
2. From the Windows 10 desktop, double click Protect icon.

3. Allow the wireless module to reboot, and login.
4. Wait for the background to turn green. This informs you that the system is ready for normal
use.

5. Power down the Workstation.


6. Disconnect the DVI-D cable from the rear of the Workstation connector panel video input.
7. Disconnect the DisplayPort to DVI-D adapter from the connector at the rear of the Wireless
module.
8. Unplug the keyboard/mouse from the Wireless module.

Test
Note: Before performing the following steps, ensure that the Workstation DICOM servers are set up.
1. Transmit an image from the Workstation to the facility network, both wired and wirelessly.
2. Perform a Query Retrieve to ensure port forwarding is properly configured.

Covers Installation
1. Reinstall the eBox front cover.
2. Reinstall the Workstation front electronics cover.
3. Reinstall the rear storage cover on the Workstation.
4. Reinstall the storage bin.
5. Apply the OEC Elite WiSP Certification label (PN 5774278) to the Workstation right stanchion
under the System Rating label as shown below.

Finish
1. Retain the DisplayPort to DVI-D adapter (PN 5777282) for future use when configuring the
wireless module.
2. Leave the Q-Card in appropriate language for the site with the customer.
