Introduction
The School Based Assessment for Physical Education and Sports instructs that students are to
host a competition with each student taking on the responsibilities of one role as an official in the
tournament. The students were required to manage every aspect of the tournament, such as
choosing cricket teams and providing money for prizes. For the S.B.A., the class was asked to
decide upon a sport for which the tournament must be hosted. Everybody chose the sport of
Cricket. Cricket was chosen because the class decided that it would be an exciting sport in which
to hold a tournament. Also, the sport Cricket was chosen because each member of the class had
knowledge of the game as well as experience of playing it. The tournament catered to the
students in form fours, as they were all eager and enthusiastic about participating in the
competition and it would be much easier for the coaches to train them. Throughout the
competition, each student was required to fulfill the responsibilities of their respective role. My
S.B.A. is based on the role of the Scorer.

International Cricket
International Governing body of Cricket: International Cricket Council(ICC)
The International Cricket Council (ICC), founded in 1909 as the Imperial Cricket Conference,
the International Cricket Council (ICC) underwent a significant transformation in 1989 to
officially become the global governing body for cricket. Originally comprised of England,
Australia, and South Africa, the ICC has since expanded its membership to include a diverse
array of cricket-playing nations worldwide. The organization has played a central role in the
globalization of cricket, organizing prestigious events such as the ICC Cricket World Cup, which
has been a cornerstone of international cricket since its inception in 1975. The introduction of
Twenty20 (T20) cricket with the ICC World Twenty20 in 2007 marked a new era, bringing a
fast-paced and entertaining format to the forefront of the sport. Inclusivity is evident in the ICC’s
recognition of new member nations and the establishment of Associate and Affiliate
memberships to support cricket development globally. Recent structural changes, including the
introduction of the Test Championship and the restructuring of the One Day International (ODI)
league, reflect the ICC’s commitment to adapting to the evolving landscape of international
cricket. Throughout its history, the ICC has remained dedicated to fostering the growth of cricket
and maintaining its integrity on the global stage.

Regional Cricket
Regional governing body for Cricket: West Indies Cricket Board (WICB)
The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), now known as Cricket West Indies (CWI), has a rich
history dating back to its formation in 1926. Initially established as the West Indies Cricket
Board of Control, its purpose was to govern and organize cricket in the West Indies. The WICB
played a pivotal role in the development of cricket in the region, overseeing the growth of the
sport and the emergence of the West Indies cricket team as a dominant force on the international
stage. The West Indies achieved unprecedented success in the 1970s and 1980s, winning
multiple Cricket World Cups and dominating Test cricket. However, internal challenges,
including issues related to governance and player disputes, posed significant hurdles for the
WICB. In 2017, the organization underwent a restructuring and rebranding process, becoming
Cricket West Indies, with a renewed focus on revitalizing West Indies cricket and addressing the
challenges faced by the sport in the region. Today, Cricket West Indies continues its efforts to
promote and develop cricket, fostering a new era for the West Indies cricket team.

Local Cricket
Local governing body for Cricket: Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)
The Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) has a history intertwined with the development of cricket in
Guyana. Formed to govern and promote the sport in the region, the GCB's roots can be traced
back to the early 20th century. Over the years, it has played a crucial role in organizing domestic
tournaments, fostering grassroots development, and identifying and nurturing talent. Guyana, as
part of the larger West Indies cricket community, has contributed significantly to the success of
the West Indies cricket team on the international stage. The GCB has faced challenges, including
issues related to governance and administration, which have at times impacted the smooth
functioning of cricket in the region. Despite these challenges, the GCB has been instrumental in
producing talented cricketers who have made notable contributions at both regional and
international levels. As cricket continues to evolve, the Guyana Cricket Board remains central to
the growth and success of cricket in Guyana.

Role in the competition
Suraj Ramlall: Event Official (Scorer)
Reasons for choosing the role
I chose to be a scorer in a cricket match because it gets me closer to the action and understand
how the game works. It also keeps me focused, as I must pay attention to every run and wicket.
In addition, I can help the team in an important way without needing to play on the field.

Reflection
Overall Reflection: Our cricket event was a great success, with only a few small issues. As the
scorer, I was responsible for recording account of runs, wickets, and overs, but with few injuries
or disruptions, I was able to fully involve myself in the excitement of the game.
It was exciting to watch the ball being bowled at amazing speeds, the batsmen making strong
strokes, and the fielders fighting hard to make important catches.
Overall, the event proceeded smoothly, and it was evident that each team had worked hard to
prepare for the competition. The participants had exceptional talent, and the tournament was a
fun experience for those who participated or watched.
Working with group members: Reflecting on my time working with the team during the
cricket competition, I understand how much working together can make or break an event. As
the scorer, I was responsible for keeping track of the runs, wickets, and overs, but it was clear
that everyone's contribution was important. It wasn't just one individual; each team member
helped to ensure the competition ran properly.
Overall, this experience showed me the importance of strong cooperation in any group activity.
When everyone participates and encourages one another, not only does the end outcome
improve, but the process is also lot more fun. Looking back, I'm happy of what we accomplished
as a team, and it serves as a reminder of the importance of working together to reach a common
goal.
Personal Reflection: : Based on everything that was done, my personal view on this tournament
is that everything that took place, was done orderly and in a timely manner with the help and
guidance of our subject teacher, and all the event officials including myself did a great job in
making this tournament a successful one also big thanks to the players in greatly participating,
we couldn’t have done it without their participation. Thankfully there was only one injury and
not multiple it was an accident and no one was blamed because of this.
Recommendations
It can recommend that:
Team members should have communicated more regularly
Roles could’ve been more clearly stated
Problems could’ve been solved together
The playing teams should’ve trained more to produce bigger numbers in runs scored

Conclusion
At the end of the tournament, our group, along with the students from Forms 1, 2, and 3, gained a
much deeper understanding of cricket through the competition. The event was a big success, as
everything went smoothly. I believe that everyone involved, from the management team to the
participants, had a great time and enjoyed the experience immensely.
