Grade 11 – excel revision

Open the Q3 Parade spreadsheet.

Work in the Entries worksheet.

3.1 Merge and centre cells A1:D1. (1)

3.2 Widen column B so that all the surnames and initials are visible. (1)

3.3 Hide column G (Age). (1)

3.4 Format cells H2:L3 to appear as shown below:

3.5 The zero of Mrs Theron’s cell phone number in cell C4 is missing. Make the
neces-sary correction. (1)

3.6 There are four possible FUN categories (columns I to L) for which dogs can be
registered. Registration in a category is indicated with an ‘x’.

Insert a function in cell M5 to determine the number of FUN categories in which


the dog named Rosy is registered. (2)

3.7 The basic entry fee (column N) is calculated as follows:

R20 plus R5 for each FUN category entered.


Insert a formula in cell N6 to calculate the basic entry fee for the dog named
Jasmine. (3)

3.8 The discount amount for AACL members (column D) is given in cell P1.

Insert a function in cell P7 to display this discount amount if Ms Wilson is


entitled to the discount. If she is not entitled to it, then R0.00 must be
displayed.

Ensure that the function will work correctly if it is copied to the other cells in
column P, or if the amount in cell P1 is changed. (5)

3.9 The total amount owed (column Q) is calculated by subtracting the discount
amount (column P) from the sum of the basic entry fee (column N) and the
amount owed for lucky draw tickets (column O).

Complete the formula in cell Q8 to calculate the total amount owed by


Mrs Alberts. (2)
3.10 Insert functions in column R to generate random numbers between 1 and 500, for
all the owners. (2)

3.11 Change the format of the date in cell C37 so that the date is displayed as follows:
30 Jun 2024. (1)

3.12 Locate the chart showing the distribution of breeds below the data in the
spreadsheet. Change the chart to appear as follows:

QUESTION 4: SPREADSHEET

NOTE:
 Use formulae and/or functions for ALL calculations in the spreadsheet.
 Use absolute cell references ONLY where necessary to ensure that formulae are correct
when you copy it to other cells in a spreadsheet.
 Insert formulae and/or functions in such a manner that the correct results will still be
obtained even if values are changed in the existing data.
 Should you need to use building blocks, use the space allocated for this in the
spreadsheet data file.

Open the Q4 Results spreadsheet.

Work in the Data worksheet.

4.1 The FUN score for each dog (column I) is the average of the four possible
scores of the four FUN categories (columns E to H), rounded by means of
a function to the nearest whole number.

Insert functions in cell I5 to calculate the FUN score for the dog named
Cloe. (4)

4.2 The times taken in seconds to complete the obstacle course event are
stored in column C.

Insert a function in cell O4 to determine the second fastest time. (3)

4.3 The final scores are stored in column B. Gold medals are awarded to all
dogs with a final score of 80 or more.

Insert a function in cell O9 to calculate how many dogs qualify for a gold
medal. (3)

Save and close the Q4 Results spreadsheet. [10]
