Nebo

WITHIN A NOTEBOOK
When you first open the app, you have to create a notebook. Choose a title, set the
recognition language and define a color for its icon.

To create a page, tap + in the left panel.

Tap a page to open it, then use the following buttons:

1. Return to the notebook manager view.


2. Use the pen or the eraser. You can also change the ink width and color.
3. Add an object (image, sketch, diagram, math object).
4. Open a search bar.
5. Undo your last action.
6. Redo your last action.
7. Choose betwen the following options:
convert or clear the whole page,
export your page (plain text, HTML or Word),
display the tutorial,
open the Nebo help section,
display app settings,
see general information.

MANAGE YOUR NOTES


Your notebook is part of a folder named My folder. A folder contains your notebooks,
and each notebook contains as many pages as you wish.

Tap to display a preview of your pages and the date they were created. You can
change their order with a drag and drop. Tap again to make the left panel disappear.

Tap to go back to the notebook manager and display your notebooks.

Tap again to go back to the folder manager and display your folders.

At the bottom left, tap + to create a folder, notebook or page.

To rename a folder or notebook, you can either swipe from left to right or long press it and
choose Edit.

To delete a folder, a notebook or a page, you can either swipe from right to left or long press
it and choose Delete.

To import a notebook, tap Import at the bottom right of the left panel, once you are in the
notebook manager.

To export a notebook, long press it and tap Export. The choices offered depend on what is
installed on your system.

WRITE AND CONVERT


To write text on your page, tap in the Pen tab.

If you want to make a bulleted list, use one of these bullets:

The preview displays a converted version of your text in real-time, so that


you can check your handwriting has been properly recognized.

If a word is incorrectly recognized, just tap the word in the preview to bring up a list of
suggestions. Tap a suggestion to substitute the original word.

To convert a block of handwritten text (figure A), double tap it with your finger. It now
appears converted with small characters (figure B). To edit it, you need to enlarge it. To do
so, double tap it again, so that larger characters are displayed (figure C). You can also tap
next to the conversion preview.

To convert your whole page, tap at the top right corner then Convert All.

GESTURES AND FORMATTING


Use simple gestures to edit your notes:

a strikethrough or scratch-out gesture to erase characters, words, paragraphs,


shapes or equations,

straight downward stroke inside a word to split it (and potentially insert a new
letter),

a long downward stroke between two words to create a line break,

a straight upward stroke to merge together two words into a single word,

a straight upward stroke to merge together two lines into a single line,

a single stroke around one or more words to frame them,

stroke below one or more words to underline them,

two strokes below one or more words to double underline them.

Some gestures can only be used in certain contexts:

Double underline x

You can also use the tab to erase elements on your page.

To clear your whole page, tap at the top right corner then Clear all.

SELECT TEXT
Tap a block of text with your finger to select it. It now appears selected, with selection
handles. You can now drag and drop it on an empty area or use the handles to resize it.

ADD OBJECTS
To add objects in your page, double tap an empty area with your finger and choose
between:

You can also use the Add tab and either tap your choice or, after long press, drag and drop
it in your page.

To resize an object: Tap it and use the handles.


To move an object: Tap it then drag and drop it on an empty area.
To convert, copy or delete an object: Tap an empty area in your object, then tap next
to the conversion preview. Depending on your object, you can choose among the available
options, that are Convert, Copy or Delete.

To paste an object: Long press an empty area and choose Paste. You can also paste it in
another application.

Image
Double tap an empty area with your finger and choose Camera to take a picture with your
webcam or Image to import an existing image.
You can draw over your image, but any text you write will not be recognized.

Sketch
Double tap an empty area with your finger and choose Sketch to create a dedicated object.
You can use both the pen and the eraser, but editing gestures and written text are not
recognized here.

Diagram
Double tap an empty area with your finger and choose Diagram to create a dedicated
object.

Write inside your diagram, just as you do on the rest of the page, and your text will be
recognized. You can also edit or erase your text and shapes with simple gestures.

Tap your shape to display the conversion preview and check that your text and shape have
been properly recognized.

To set your shape as doodle, tap the shape icon in the preview and tap Set as doodle. If a
word is incorrectly recognized, just tap it in the preview to bring up a list of suggestions. Tap
a suggestion to substitute the original word.

To convert a shape, tap next to the preview then Convert. To convert your whole
diagram, double tap with your finger anywhere in the diagram object.

To move or resize a shape, tap it to select it and display handles. Shapes can be aligned,
congruent or connected, if needed.

Math
Double tap an empty area with your finger and choose Math to create a dedicated object.

Write your expression and double tap it when you are ready to have it converted. If needed,
use the Erase gesture to edit it.

To select your expression, just tap it. Handles are displayed so that you can resize it, for
example.

Tap next to the conversion preview, then Settings, to choose between a truncated or
rounded result, an angle unit in degrees or radians and whether you want your equation to
be automatically solved or not.

Tap next to the conversion preview, then Copy to copy a LaTeX version that you can
paste in any LaTeX editor.

Some equations can be solved if they contain supported symbols.

The solver supports horizontal calculations, one at a time, using the following operators and
functions:

Basic Operations: %, +/-


Basic Operators: +, -, x, ÷
Basic Functions: |x|, 1/x, √, ln, log, e^x, x^y, x², x!
Brackets: ( )
Trigonometry: cos, sin, tan, acos, asin, atan
Constants: π, e, φ

SEARCH IN YOUR NOTES


To search in your current page, tap the Search tab at the top of the page. Enter a keyword
in the search bar.

The found occurrences appear highlighted. Use the arrows to go to the previous
or next occurrence.

SAVE AND EXPORT

To save your notes, go in the notebook manager, long press your notebook and tap Save
as... Your notebook will be saved in a MyScript format (*.nebo), allowing you to import it
later on.

To export your notes, tap at the top right corner and choose between:

Share as text to share your current page in plain text,


Export to Word to display your current page in Word,
View in browser to display an HTML view of your current page.

To export your whole notebook, go in the notebook manager, long press your notebook
and tap Export.
