Floating Solar Pre-Feasibility Study - Bakreswar Reservoir Bathymetry Study

4.1 Summary of Calibration

 Standard ‘patch test’ techniques were used for calibrating the system, with the aim
of quantifying and compensating for inherent roll, pitch, heading and latency errors.
The present document describes the results of the multi beam calibration carried out
on 30th May 2023. The MBES transducer offsets in the survey boat are as below.

 Transducer sensor offsets measured as the distance from the centre to the
transducer point (X= 1.150m, Y= -0.350m, Z= 0.85m for MB ZS MAHALAXMI)

 Antenna offsets measured as the distance from the centre to the antenna (X= 0.00m,
Y= 1.690m and Z =-1.945m from water line).

 Heave offset measured as the vertical distance from the centre of the transducer to
the water surface (X= 1.040m, Y= -0.350m, Z= -1.26m from water line)

 Time offset (latency) introduced by DGPS computer/ navigation computers or during

the serial data transfers.

 A SEATEX MRU 5+ motion reference unit provided compensation for boat

roll/pitch/yaw.

 Antenna and Sensor Offsets: The antenna and the sensor offsets measured with
the aid of a measuring tape were entered in the R2Sonic 2024 Data Acquisition
Module along with the survey boat dimensions

 The sound velocity profile (SVP) file was used to get an accurate sound velocity
profile in the water for the patch test.

 There were no tidal variations during calibration period.

4.2 Calibration Profile Status and grid comparisons

A profile or cross-section of two grids (without calibration and with calibration) were
compared to show the result of calibrations.
