presence outside of Bangladesh by exporting a variety of products, especially in the Middle East,
Southeast Asia, Europe, and North and South America.

The Meghna Group's visionary chairman and managing director, Mr. Mostofa Kamal, is in charge of
driving the company's relentless commercial expansion. He is well known for his inventive business
acumen, patriotic spirit, and contributions to the development of the industrial, health, educational,
sporting, social welfare, and a number of other fields.

The first company to create a private economic zone in Bangladesh is MGI. MGI recently opened eight
new industrial units in its two economic zones with an investment of more than BDT 3000 crores. Ten
other industries, among them TIC Australia, are also in various phases of construction, erection, and
negotiations with foreign principals. There will be an additional 12000–15000 job openings as a result of
this.

Diversity has been the secret to MGI's success and quick expansion. A few of the markets and sectors
the company has penetrated include fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), building materials, pulp and
paper, LPG, feeds, fiber, power plants, shipping, seed crushing, chemicals, ship construction, dockyard,
securities, insurance, media, and aviation. The majority of the company's goods are marketed under the
well-known brand names "Fresh," "No. 1," "Actifit," "Pure," and "Meghnacem Deluxe." The current
product lineup from MGI is fantastic. MGI products are utilized in one out of every two households in

Analysis of Revenue model of the Meghna Group of Industries

and Findings

The major effectiveness of Credit Management policy of the Meghna Group of‟
Industries are as follows:-
The Meghna Group of Industries always keeps consciousness about their credit
management policy as a whole. They pay a special attention to make their policy
more effective. The reason behind it is the credit management policy is the main
running power to continue the day to day operations of a company. If a company
follows a wrong credit management policy, the company will suffer in the long
run. In fact, it may also vanish for the same reason.
The credit management policy must be kept very confidential because of
competitive market. This is basically for if a company gets to know about the
internal matters, the company may make their own policies more strong and
tactful. In this way, the company might grab the distributors of the former
company. So the Meghna Group of Industries does not share their internal
policies with anyone.
As their credit management policy is very secure, their distributors have to pay
their past dues within the specified time period. The management of the
company is very technical and professional to collect their credit and so they offer
two types of credit policy. They offer credit limit for their distributor only when they
realize that the distributor is reliable, trustworthy and capable to repay the dues
even if he makes a loss from the business. At the same time, they offer business to
business payment method to their distributors who are less reliable and

11
Meghna Group of Industries

trustworthy.
Again, they do not give a big amount credit limit for their new distributor rather
They offer very low credit limits at the beginning. If it is not followed, the distributor
will invoice for product of bulk amount that he might not be able to sell as he will
be provided a very specific credit days for this acts and consequently, he may
default at the very beginning. Subsequently, he may lose the interest of business
and in future he may stop that business for this reason.
Moreover, the credit limit will increase gradually in response of the distributor
performance. If the distributor can sell his entire credit limit within very short
period before finishing his provided credit days, then his credit limit will be
increased depending on average daily sales by the company.
Moreover, if a distributor cannot complete his selling of product for 3 months after
Afterwards, the number of credit limits will be decreased.
Furthermore, they take a blank cheque from their distributors at the beginning as
if they can get back all their dues from the distributor bank account. Because,
how much a distributor has default cannot be known in the beginning of his
business, so the company does not allow the written amount in the cheque.
Also, if any distributor is in default, at the very first the company tries to recover
the money by using the blank cheque which he had given during becoming a
distributor of that company.
However, when the company cannot recover the money by using the same thing,
the legal team of the company meets with the distributor individually and
attempts to recover the same. Even if they become unable to collect the money,
the company brings suit against the distributor. Only then the court gives its
judgment about what to do in that situation for both the company the concerning
distributor although it is very rare in fact because the legal team tries their level
best to resolve the matter.
For the above mentioned reasons, the default rate of the distributor of the
Meghna Group of Industries is very much lower than other competitors like
Unilever Bangladesh Ltd, ACI Bangladesh Ltd etc. in Bangladesh

12
Meghna Group of Industries

Credit Collection Procedure

Most of the distributor provide their dues in due time through Online Bank
Transaction, Telegraphic Transfer (TT), Demand Draft (DD), Bank Account
Transfer, Bank Cheque, Cash Transaction etc. Problem arises when distributors
do not give payment of their past dues. In those circumstances, for the first time,
Line Manager takes the first responsibility to collect those payments. In this
regard, the line manager gives pressure to the Divisional Manager and Area
Manager to collect those payments. However, if they are unable to collect the
past dues, the Line Manager renders the responsibility to the Credit Officer. For this
purpose, the Credit Officer gives a formal letter to the distributor for providing
past dues within a specific time period. If the distributor does not pay the dues
within specific time, the Credit Officer transfers the responsibility to Legal
Manager. Finally, the Legal Manager takes the legal action against the distributor
and collect the money in a legal way so far.

Critical Findings
There are some critical findings for what reasons the company’s goodwill may be
affected in the long run, namely:
● The company follows two payment methods for its distributors;
● The company follows different credit days for all distributors for that makes the
● entire procedure more complex;
● The company gives more attention to primary sales rather than secondary sales;
● The company manually updates all required distributor, sales and payment
● information that becomes very time consuming.
● The company is not that much bothered about the difficulties and business of the others.

Requirement 3: E-Business Platform/ Infrastructure

E-Business Software Used:

CRM, ERP, and SCM allow a business to preserve profits, control cost management, keep
stockpiles, and develop relationships with customers and suppliers. All three of them are managed
by Meghna Group using its web services platform. While the ERP system analyzes costs and
pricing, the SCM system reviews supply and demand data and stocks. Through its automated
system, the ERP system also helps Meghna Group and has expanded the company's e-commerce
operations. Utilizing the SCM system, Meghna Group must be cautious with its suppliers to
prevent a deterioration in their connection. In Meghna Group's approach to assessing offers to
customers when they make purchases before checking out, CRM has played a significant role.
Meghna Group, one of the leaders in the e-commerce industry, has completely embraced these
three strategies. A crucial role is also played by HCM, ITSM, EPM, PPM, SPM, and TRM, SAP
for the Meghna Group of Industries.

Network Technologies Used:

Internet: Worldwide computer connectivity is facilitated via the internet. The main purpose of
Meghna Group of Industries was to select and maximize this technology while balancing their
objectives and user requests.
Extranet: To transmit information with its suppliers in a safe manner, Meghna Group's IT uses
extranet.
EDI: Depending on the size of the suppliers, Meghna Group offers several EDI software systems.
The companies under the Meghna Group gain a lot from EDI since it increases product delivery
while lowering costs and human error rates when entering data. Through this platform, Meghna
Group and the suppliers communicate with one other.
Intranet: A private network called the intranet is used by Meghna Group's IT. Its main objectives
are to support safe staff communication, information archiving, and teamwork.

Web Technologies Used:

Widget: Companies that are part of the Meghna Group of Industries provide their consumers the
option of using the search bar to direct them to the product they want. Additionally, they provide
a range of sorting options that let customers search for pricey or inexpensive quality goods.

14
Meghna Group of Industries

Feed: Companies under the Meghna Group have a substantial product inventory to display on their
website or mobile app. The products are divided into categories according to those divisions.

Blog: This site offers information on a variety of subjects. A person or group of people typically
keeps it up. Music and images are also included.

Web Content Management Strategy:

The operations of MGI are subject to several restrictions. The majority of manufacturing workers
and employees are unfamiliar with the ERP system. However, understanding how to use ERP to
maintain current information is crucial in the MGI FMCG business. Therefore, using a manual
technique to collect information in this scenario occasionally results in shortcomings. Meghna
group must therefore focus on this issue more and make an effort to find a solution in this
circumstance. Thus, they can improve responsiveness and speed by resolving these issues.

15
Meghna Group of Industries

Requirement 4: Digital strategy for e-business

Digital strategy is focused on leveraging technology to enhance MGI's corporate performance,

whether developing brand-new goods or completely redesigning existing procedures. It outlines

MGI's strategy to create new technological competitive advantages and the methods it will employ

to bring about these improvements. Since new technology enables creative businesses to offer

services that weren't previously possible, this typically involves changes to business models.

• Elaborate on the e-channel structure (multichannel, click, bricks-and-mortar, etc.)

MGI now have more freedom because of the internet, which enables them to run an online

business in addition to its manufacturing locations. On the other hand, customers must be able

to freely switch between channels, feel involved with MGI, and not notice differences between

Bricks and Mortar. In order to maximize the effectiveness of each channel, cross-channel

collaboration must be encouraged through coordination, control mechanisms, system

interoperability, and incentives. A successful Click and Mortar strategy by MGI have leverage

and profit from numerous synergies. They will collaborate on shared operations, client bases,

supplier networks, branding, and internal learning while building departmental trust. People

desire to do business with people; thus, once this operates like a well-oiled machine, Click and

Mortar have an advantage over a pure internet company strategy. And when those individuals

are trained in product knowledge and employed to create online connections, they will level

the playing field. A well-designed multichannel marketing strategy offers several clear

advantages for MGI. When the benefits of each channel are utilized optimally, the client base

and market coverage are increased while marketing expenses are decreased. It can be

complicated to manage a multichannel marketing system for MGI. Mainly because the

requirements for implementing a channel and following it through to where the consumer

16
Meghna Group of Industries

makes a purchase are what many organizations are organized and departmentalized around.

Additional factors include that specific customer types should be avoided in particular channels

for the sake of the well-being of MGI.

• Elaborate on the e-business strategy and describe how it supports the vision and mission.

Technology today is more than just gear and software since it has linked to the business. Digital

and business strategies will be synonymous as digital technology firms and spread advance in

their digital transformation journeys. To concentrate on the work behind digital projects, for

the time being, the phrase "digital strategy" is still helpful. It's critical to remember that a digital

strategy is both an idea and an actual product, meaning it should finally result in developing a

detailed plan or roadmap for MGI. MGI can change its specific strategy if something goes

wrong, according to its analysis.

The mission of MGI is satisfying their clients and maximizing value via unique solutions,

motivated employees, technological development adaption, and living in harmony. On the

other hand, the vision of MGI is to establish the most successful Company by generating

sustainable, profitable growth and continuously improving results to the benefit of

shareholders and employees, and also be the most recognized and progressive global Company

in Bangladesh. In order to support its mission and vision, MGI's digital strategy (ultimate

objective) is to make money off the essential productivity software the firm has already created

and uses internally. They initially draw out a plan of attack to package it as a mobile app and

market it to specific users. Later, they discover that selling it to companies for use in their

mobile apps will increase its value. Changing the overarching concept of MGI's digital strategy

17
Meghna Group of Industries

should result in a significant shift or reorientation for its business. Still, ideally, the specific

actions will be adaptable enough to let them change course as necessary.

• Analyze e-business strategy using a strategy model (e.g., SWOT, digital strategy).

Strengths:

* Wide ranges of fast-moving consumer goods such as paper, tissue, and poultry feed,

as well as other services such as aviation, banking, insurance, securities, etc.

* Distinctly follows two business models, B2B and B2C. This gives MGI a good

reputation in the marketplace, encouraging it to keep the stakeholders attached to

its operations.

* Provides various payment options, including cash back, discounts, cash on delivery,

and loyalty tokens.

* Have a great, easy-to-navigate website that users find more engaging and less hassle-free.

18
Meghna Group of Industries

Weaknesses:

* Contains many annoying and disturbing advertisements that users find unsafe to navigate.

* MGI often has ineffective project execution.

* Language barrier forms indicate that a sizable portion of internet users cannot read the

web content to which they are connected.

* No C2C business model and less attracted to the end users of their products.

Opportunities:

* In our country, there are many more people using the internet, and MGI is getting connected

with more new customers.

* Buyers are getting more interested in placing their orders online.

* MGI has the ability to change the portfolio product strategy and various business models.

* Brand shared across the different social platforms by the users.

Threats:

* Not delivering final products on time to the clients due to various obstacles.

* Getting fake orders more often from fake buyers.

* Online payment errors due to hackers and increased risk on online payment systems.

* High traffics on websites.

19
Meghna Group of Industries

• Identify the firm's competitive threats and explain how it can respond to those.

* Competition: The number of competitors and their capacity to undercut a firm are the

prime competitive threat. The power of a corporation decreases as the number of competitors

and the number of comparable goods and services they provide increases. If a competitor can

provide a better deal or lower rates, suppliers and customers will look to them. On the other

hand, when there is little competition, a corporation has more negotiating power and can raise

prices to boost sales and profits. Hence, MGI needs to act accordingly in order to overcome

this threat.

* New entrants: The force of new entrants into a market also impacts MGI's power. Their

position may be considerably undermined the quicker and cheaper it is for a rival to enter its

market and become a viable rival. It is appropriate for existing enterprises inside an industry

with significant entry barriers since MGI could charge higher rates and negotiate better

conditions.

* Suppliers: Suppliers can raise input costs. It is influenced by the number of suppliers of

an item or service, the degree to which these inputs are unique, and the price to a corporation

of switching providers. MGI would depend more on a supplier in this industry when there are

fewer providers. As a result, the supplier is in a stronger position and can increase input costs

and demand additional trade benefits. On the other hand, MGI can maintain its input costs low

and increase its profits when there are several suppliers or low switching costs between

competing suppliers.

* Customers: Customers might influence the reduction of the price. It is influenced by the

quantity and value of the MGI's purchasers or customers and by how expensive it would be for

them to find new markets or consumers for its goods.

20
Meghna Group of Industries

Each consumer has greater leverage to bargain for lower rates and better deals because the

client base is smaller and more substantial. It will be simpler for a business with many small,

independent clients to raise pricing and boost profitability.

21
Meghna Group of Industries

Requirment 5 : IT security risks

The Information Technology (IT) division of MGI assists companies to grow rapidly and
effectively by enhancing the functionality and overall efficacy of their systems, products, and
services. The potential impacts of IT on MGI's operations, productivity, profitability, and
sustainability are numerous. The IT division of MGI delivers cutting-edge infrastructure and
enterprise applications to enhance client and employee communication while managing corporate
processes to enhance the way they create and maintain customer interactions. Different types of
IT threats can be come in an industry like MGI . Five It security risk of MGI are Phishing Attacks,
Highly developed ransomware attacks , cloud jacking ,insider threats and deepfakes. This attacks
can steal all the datas of MGi. To prevent these type of attacks , they have taken some necessary
steps like keep the system up to date , use security softwares , emergency response team
availability, keep a backup of data and many more. Technology in MGI also improves the order-
to-customer (O2C), logistics, procure-to-pay (P2P), and plan-to-manufacture (P2M) business
chains, as well as business management in general. The effectiveness of recruiting, vetting, and
employing potential individuals for MGI is also enhanced by IT in the workplace. In order to apply
the technology-driven business model, MGI constantly focuses on and adopts new technology,
such as the Internet of Things (IoT), robotic process automation (RPA), and image processing.
Additionally, MGI created and launched Bangladesh's first-ever DNA network. The provision of
security to a firm is another crucial function of MGI's IT. Businesses are being kept safe thanks to
significant improvements in electronic security systems, cutting-edge firewalls, cutting-edge
surveillance systems, and biometric systems.
