Level: Easy ++ (Upper beginner)

OVERVIEW:
1. The sweater is worked in 4 pieces: Back, Front and 2 sleeves
2. Each piece is crocheted from the below edge and in the direction of the arrows as shown in the picture
below.
3. The neckband is crocheted separately then sewn to the body.

GAUGE: (Approximate) 16 sts and 20 rows = 4"x4” [10x10 cm] in Even Moss Stitch with 5mm crochet hook.
18 sts and 18 rows = 4"x4” [10x10 cm] in Single crochet stitch BLO with 4mm crochet hook.
Note: Before starting crocheting the cardigan, you need to make a swatch to check the gauges first. You should
get the recommended gauge so that the cardigan could get the dimensions as in the table below.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS:


1. Himalaya Everyday Super Lux, color No.73442: 300 (350, 400, 400, 450) grams.
Note: You could choose another yarn brands. Please make sure that the yarn weight is DK (8ply) and the
knitting gauge written on the yarn label is about 20 sts = 4 inches.
2. Size 4mm crochet hook
3. Size 5mm crochet hook
4. Scissors
5. Tapestry needle
6. Measuring tape

Please follow the key according to the size you are making: 12-18 months (18-24 months, 2-3 Y, 3-4 Y, 4-5 Y).

GUIDE TO MAKE THE STITCHES USED IN THIS PATTERN


1. The ribbings, neckband and cuffs are worked in Yarn Over Slip Stitch BLO:

2. The torso and sleeves are worked in Even Moss Stitch:
Ch even number.
Row 1: Starting in the 2nd chain from hook, *1sl st, 1hdc into each of next 2 sts. Repeat from * across the row.
The last stitch will be a sl st. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: *1 sl st into top of slst of the previous row. 1 hdc into top of next hdc. Repeat from * across the row. The
last stitch will be a slst. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 until you reach your desired length.

BACK PANEL:
(*) Ribbing:
With 4mm hook, Ch 8 (8, 9, 9, 10) sts.
Row 1: Begin from 2nd chain from hook, work in Yarn Over Slip Stitch in next 7 (7, 8, 8, 9) sts; Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Work in Yarn Over Slip Stitch BLO in all sts; Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 54 (56, 58, 61, 63) times more. There are 56 (58, 60, 63, 65) rows in total.

Change to 5mm hook


Row 3 (RS): Work across long edge of Ribbing, from the right to the left
as the arrow shown in picture 1. (Sc in each of next 8 sts, sc2tog) 5 (5, 5,
6, 6) times. Sc in remaining sts. There are 51 (53, 55, 57, 59) sts left after
this step. Ch1, turn.
Row 4: *1sl st, 1hdc into each of next 2 sts. Repeat from * across the row.
The last stitch will be a sl st. Ch 1, turn.
Row 5: *1 sl st into top of slst of the previous row. 1 hdc into top of next
hdc. Repeat from * across the row. The last stitch will be a slst. Ch 1, turn.
Work in Even Moss stitch (repeating Row 5) until work from beginning Picture 1
(including ribbing) measures 6½ (7, 7½, 8, 8½)" [17 (18, 19, 20, 21) cm],
ending on a WS row.

Shape armholes
Row 6 (RS): Work in Even Moss stitch to last 2 sts, leave 2 sts unworked. Ch 1, turn.
Row 7: Work in Even Moss stitch to last 2 sts, leave 2 sts unworked. Ch 1, turn. There are 47 (49, 51, 53, 55) sts
remaining. Ch 1, turn. (*)
Work in Even Moss stitch until work from beginning measures 10 (10½, 11½, 12, 13)" [25 (27, 29, 31, 33) cm],
ending on a WS row.

Shape neck and shoulders


Shape right shoulder and neck
Row 8 (RS): Work in Even Moss stitch in next 15 (16, 17, 17, 17) sts, sc2tog, leave remaining sts unworked. Ch1,
turn.
Row 9: Sc2tog, work in Even Moss stitch in remaining 14 (15, 16, 16, 16) sts. Ch 1, turn.
Row 10: Work in Even Moss stitch to last 2 sts, sc2tog. Ch1, turn.
Row 11: Sc2tog, work in Even Moss stitch in remaining sts. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 10 and Row 11 once more. There are 11 (12, 13, 13, 13) sts left on right shoulder.
Fasten off. Leave a long yarn thread to sew the front and back shoulders together.

Shape left shoulder and neck


Skip the middle
Row 8 (RS): Skip next 13 (13, 13, 15, 17) sts, join yarn with slip stitch to 13 (13, 13, 15, 17) sts
next st (at the position of the Brown dot in figure 1). Ch 1. Work in Even
Moss stitch in remaining 16 (17, 18, 18, 18) sts. Ch1, turn.
Row 9: Work in Even Moss stitch in next 14 (15, 16, 16, 16) sts, sc2tog. Ch
1, turn.
Row 10: Sc2tog, work in Even Moss stitch to end of row. Ch1, turn.
Row 11: Work in Even Moss stitch to last 2 sts, sc2tog. Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 10 and Row 11 once more. There are 11 (12, 13, 13, 13) sts
left on left shoulder.

Fasten off. Leave a long yarn thread to sew the front and back shoulders

FRONT PANEL:
Work from (*) to (*) as given for Back.

SLEEVES:
Make the cuff
With 4mm hook, Ch 8 (8, 9, 9, 10) sts.
Row 1: Begin from 2nd chain from hook, work in Yarn Over Slip Stitch in next 7 (7, 8, 8, 9) sts; Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Work in Yarn Over Slip Stitch BLO in all sts; Ch 1, turn.
Repeat Row 2 16 (17, 19, 20, 22) times more. There are 18 (19, 21, 22, 24) rows in total.

Change to 5mm hook.


Row 3 (RS): Work across long edge of Ribbing, from the right to the left as the arrow shown in picture 1: 1Sc in
first st then 2sc in each st across the ribbing. There are 35 (37, 41, 43, 47) sts after this step. Ch 1, turn.

Row 4: *1sl st, 1hdc into each of next 2 sts. Repeat from * across the row. The last stitch will be a sl st. Ch 1,
turn.
Row 5: *1 sl st into top of slst of the previous row. 1 hdc into top of next hdc. Repeat from * across the row. The
last stitch will be a slst. Ch 1, turn.
Work in Even Moss stitch (repeating Row 5) until work from beginning (including ribbing) measures 8½ (9, 10,
11, 11½)" [21 (23, 26, 28, 29) cm].
Fasten off, leave a long yarn thread to sew the sleeve to the body.
Make other Sleeve the same.

NECKBAND:
With 4mm hook, Ch 6 sts
Row 1 (WS): Begin from 2nd chain from hook, work in Yarn Over Slip Stitch in next 5 sts; ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Work in Yarn Over Slip Stitch BLO in all 5 sts; Ch1, turn.
Repeat last row until neckband measures length to fit around neck edge, when slightly stretched, ending on a
WS row. Fasten off.

FINISHING:
With RS facing.
Sew shoulder seams together with Whip stitch.
Sew Neckband to Body: Place beginning of neckband seam at top of front
right shoulder seam (picture 2) and sew long edge of neckband to neck
edge with Whip stitch, stretching neckband slightly to fit. Sew neckband
seams together.
Sew Sleeves to armholes with Whip stitch.
Sew side and sleeve seams together with Whip stitch.
