languages. Report cards are issued twice a year. Students are not ranked.
The IB Middle Years Programme - IB MYP (Years 7 - 11)
This is a five-year programme offered to students aged 11 - 16 years. Students are evaluated internally through a
variety of assessment tools, including short and long term projects, classroom assessments, tests and internal
exams. Performance in the eight subject groups and the Personal Project is reported on a 7-point scale, with 7
being the highest. In order to be awarded the College-issued end of MYP Award, students must meet the
College’s minimum academic requirements of at least 36 points out of a maximum 63 points. This score is an
aggregate of the eight subject groups' grades and the Personal Project. Award conditions also include fulfillment
of the College’s community engagement requirements.
The IB Diploma Programme – IB DP (Years 12 - 13)
This is a two-year programme offered in Years 12 - 13 to students aged 16 - 19 years. Students are evaluated
through a combination of internal assessments (including written assignments, oral assignments and portfolios)
and external examinations, externally marked and moderated by the IB. Performance is reported on a 7-point
scale, 7 being the highest. IB Diploma requirements also include completion of Theory of Knowledge (ToK), the
Extended Essay (EE) and Creativity, Action and Service (CAS). ToK and EE results are reported on a 5-point scale,
A – E, where A is the highest. CAS is reported as Meeting Expectation (ME) or Not Meeting Expectation (NME).
Upon successful completion of this programme the student is awarded an IB Diploma. Some students pursue a

Overall Achievement Grades
Each subject area has a set of assessment components. Grades for components are combined together using
appropriate weightings. The resulting value is compared to a set of grade boundaries as published by the IB, in
order to determine the overall achievement grade on the 1 - 7 scale. In the table below are the general
descriptors, as published by the IB, that correspond to each of these overall achievement grades.
In Theory of Knowledge, a scale of A-E is used, where A is the highest and E is the lowest.
In CAS and Community Engagement, from 2017-18 onwards, the grade awarded is either Meeting Expectations
(ME) or Not Meeting Expectations (NME). Up to 2016-17, the grade awarded was on an A-D scale, where A was
the highest and D was the lowest.
Grade Grade General Grade Descriptors for Overall Achievement
