A. Preparatory Activities

 Prayer

Let us all stand for our opening prayer.

Prayer leader, please come in front.

 Greetings

Good morning, grade 4 Rizal!

Good morning teacher, good morning
classmates. It’s nice to see you again!
Are you ready to learn and explore?
Yes, we are ready! Ready to explore!

If you are ready, let’s do the drill!

One two, three, eyes on me! One, two, eyes on you!

Clap once, clap twice, clap thrice! The pupils did what the teacher told them.
If you hear me, match me, match me, match
me!

(The teacher will count 1,2,3) The pupils will arrange the chairs.
One…. The pupils will sit properly.
Two…. The pupils keep quiet and are ready to listen.
Three….

 Checking of Attendance
The class secretary will check absentees if
Is there any absentee for today? any.

It’s nice to hear that no one is absent today.

 Review
Let`s have a recap of what you have learned
from our previous lesson.

Who among you remembered our last lesson? It’s all about the different types of clouds,
teacher.
Okay, to test how well you remember the
different types of clouds, let’s try to do this
activity called, “TELL ME Who I am”

Pick one mirror and name the type of cloud

of what this mirror is referring to.

The pupils will identify what type of cloud

their chosen mirror is referring to.

Very good! You’ve done a great job in

identifying the different types of clouds as
you have clearly understood our previous
lesson.
Keep up the good work!

B. Developmental Activities

 Motivation

. What do you see on the board? Clouds, teacher.

Our activity for today is called “Rain Drops.”

Anyone who wants to volunteer?

Please come in front.

Each of you should pick what string would

you want to pull to see what task is given to
you.

After you get your task, the timer will start. I

will only be giving you three minutes to finish
your task.
Yes, teacher.
Is that clear, class?

Are you ready? We are ready, teacher!

Okay, let’s begins in 3…2….1 Go! Pupils Output: (puzzle)

 Presentation of the lesson
Look at the pictures, can you identify where Pupil’s answer may vary.
did you see them?

There are faucets, teacher.

What can you see in these pictures?
Pupil’s answer may vary.
What are the uses of faucets?
Faucets are sources of water and they help us
to water the plants, clean our comfort rooms
as well as wash our hands.

By turning off the faucets when they’re not

How can you save water? being used, teacher.

Very good! You must learn how to consume

water wisely.

 DISCUSSION
Pupil’s answer may vary.
Now class, have you ever wondered where
the rain comes from? Or how the clouds are
formed in the sky?

Let’s see if your answers are all correct

because today, we will be having an
experiment.

Pupils will read the precautionary measures.

Before that, let us read first the precautionary
measures while performing an experiment. Precautionary Measures:
1. Follow the procedures carefully.
2. Be careful with electronic tools and
equipment.
3. Report any accidents right away and clean
up afterwards.

To avoid accidents, teacher.

Class, why do we need to follow these safety
measures?

Well said! So that while performing an

experiment, we can avoid accidents or danger
by following these rules.

Since this experiment might put you in

danger, I will be the one to perform the
experiment and all you must do is to listen
and observe carefully. Yes, teacher.
Is that clear, class?

The materials are the following:

Class, can you name the materials that we electric kettle, small and big clear drinking
have here? glass, and Ice cubes, teacher.

Very good!

The teacher will conduct an experiment of

how water evaporates by heating the water
on the electric kettle.

Class, what happened when the water is Teacher, I saw smoke rises.
heated on the kettle?
The smoke is rising when the water is boiling
Why is the smoke rising? and heated.

Great job! When the water is boiling and

heated, you will see smoke rising and
evaporating and this is what we call the
process of ‘evaporation’.

Evaporation – is a process when the sun heats

up water in seas, rivers, lakes, oceans, and
ponds then turns it into water vapor or steam
and rises up into the air.

Let’s proceed on the next phase.

The teacher will conduct an experiment of

how water condenses by putting the hot water
into a clear big drinking glass and putting ice
on a small drinking glass then place it on top
of the big drinking glass filled with hot water.

Now, It’s your turn.

Who wants to volunteer? The pupil put an ice inside the glass.
Now, you may put an ice inside the glass.

Okay class, how about when I put the small It creates moist inside the big drinking glass,
drinking glass filled with ice on top of the hot teacher.
water, what do you observe?
You’ve got it! When the hot water changes
from gas or water vapor and turns into liquid
which causes some moist or water droplets
that is what we call ‘condensation’.

Condensation – is the process by which water

How does condensation happen? vapor in the air is changed into a liquid state
.

Now, after a few minutes have passed, what

have you observed to the moist or water
droplets you have seen inside the big drinking
glass? Are there any changes? There are droplets of water falling from the
smaller drinking glass, teacher.

Yes! You are correct!

The droplet of water you have observed is
falling from the smaller drinking glass just
like rain falling from the sky and that process
is called ‘precipitation’.

Precipitation – when a cloud becomes full of

How does precipitation form? liquid water, it falls down from the sky as rain
or snow.

Again class, what are the three phases we The three phases are Evaporation,
have discussed? Condensation, and Precipitation, teacher.

Very good! These three phases are the

important parts of the water cycle.

Do you have any idea what water cycle Pupil’s answer may vary.
means?

The teacher will discuss water cycle by using

a working model.

Sample working model:

What can you see in this model? Pupil’s answer may vary.
Water Cycle – is the process by which water
How does the water cycle occur in this moves from place to place above, on, and
model? below the earth’s surface and this is done by
the three phases of water cycle which are
evaporation, condensation, and precipitation.

The water cycle is a continuous cycle of how

water returns back to earth. The sun heats up
the water from rivers, lakes, oceans. Then,
water evaporates and turn into water vapor.
After that, the water vapor goes up in the
atmosphere. As the atmosphere gets colder,
the water vapor will turn into water droplets.
These water droplets form clouds. When
clouds get too heavy, then the water droplets
fall as rain, snow, or hail.

For you to be able to easily understand the

water cycle and its three phases, let’s
remember it through hand gestures.

The teacher will demonstrate the water cycle

and each phase through hand gestures.

Water cycle – moving hands in circular

motion.
Evaporation – moving hands up like steam
rising.
Condensation – moving hands together in the
shape of a cloud.
Precipitation – moving hands down like rain.

Now, let’s do this with a song. The pupils will sing a song with action.

Water travels in a cycle

Yes, it does.
Water travels in a cycle
Yes, it does.
It goes up as evaporation,
Form clouds as condensation,
Then goes down as precipitation,
Yes, it does.

Very well done, class!

The pupils will do the rain clap.
Give yourself a rain clap!

 Application
Now it’s your turn! To check your
understanding, we are going to have an
activity.

I will group into two groups.

The pupils are listening attentively.

I will provide all the materials needed and all
you must do is to listen carefully to the
instructions of each group on what will be
your assigned tasks and on how you will be
going to do them.

The first group will be going to create a mini

water cycle model using a zip lock bag. You
will draw a water cycle diagram onto the
plastic bag then fill it with a small amount of
water and then hang them in a window.

The second group will do a visual

representation of water cycle using a paper
plate. You need to show the correct
arrangement of each phase of the water cycle
using the cut-out pictures I will be giving to
you and then paste them on the plate.

You need to finish your given tasks within

only 5 minutes. Finish or not finish you need
to pass your output on time.
Here is the rubric for scoring:

teacher.

The first phase of water cycle is Evaporation,

With those phases, which should occur first?
The second t phase is Condensation. .
How about the second phase?
The last phase is Precipitation.
And the last phase?
Precipitation is when clouds can no longer
What do you understand about precipitation? hold on to water, this will burst and release
raindrops, teacher.

Well said!
No, teacher.
 Valuing
It made sure that water is always available to
Class, can you live without water? everyone at all times.

What do you think is the reason why this Without the continuous process of water, all
water cycle is important in our daily living? living things could die.

What else?

Exactly right! We should care about water

cycle because water is necessary and a
necessity for us, humans, and other living
things to live on Earth because If water didn't
naturally recycle itself, we would run out of
clean water, which is essential to life.
None, teacher.
Do you have any questions or clarifications
about our lesson for today, class? Pupils answer may vary.

Has this day taught you something new that

you can apply in your daily life?

I’m glad you’ve listened well and be able to

share your understanding about the lesson in
our class.

Keep up the good work, class!
