You can install the license server on either a Windows-based computer, a Linux-based computer, or
a Mac OS X computer.
To install a license server on Windows
1. Download the latest license server installer file by signing into your Altair One account and
click View All Apps. Select the PSIM product tile and in the right panel, select the License
Manager tab and select Windows Installer. If you have issues or questions, contact your Altair
Account Manager.
2. Launch the license server installer.
3. The Altair Licensing Installation dialog box appears. Proceed through the next few dialog
boxes, entering information for the installation path.
4. Click Next.
5. Do one of the following: If you have an existing server license file, choose Yes and enter the
location of the license file. After finishing the installation, the license server will automatically
start. Skip to Step 7 under Activating the license server. If you do not have a license file,
choose No, then click Next. You will proceed without a license file and add it later to the
appropriate location.

(The default location is C:\Program Files\Altair\licensing15.0). This will overwrite the empty
altair_lic.dat file already found in that directory.
3. From the same directory, open altair-serv.cfg in a text editor and confirm that the following line

Component Services in the pop-up menu. The Component Services dialog box appears.

Install Altair PSIM via Silent Mode

Silent mode enables the installer to run without any user interaction. A near-silent mode is possible on Windows.

InstallAnywhere and Altair PSIM end-user-defined variables may be set through command line parameters or
a properties response file.

Response files are used in silent mode since there is no end-user interaction.

The installer runs either on the defaults provided by the installer package or by providing a response file from
which the installer retrieves the values for various InstallAnywhere and Altair PSIM variables used to control
the install.

The installer automatically checks the residing directory for a file called installer.properties, however, this file
name and type is NOT supported by the Altair PSIM installers and cannot reside in the same folder as our
installs.

The response file will need a unique name in order to work properly with the Altair PSIM installers, example,
PSIM2024.0_installer.properties, will work with the Altair PSIM installer.

Note: For Altair PSIM 2024.0, you will need to have ACCEPT_EULA=YES in your properties file or specify -
DACCEPT_EULA=YES at the command line, or the installers will not run. This variable will not automatically
get added to a response file, it must be added manually.

You can generate a response file from the installer by running through the installer with the following command
line syntax:

-r "[FullPath]\PSIM2024.0_installer.properties" The file will get created once the installer is complete. To trigger
a silent installer from the command line, type the following:

[InstallerName] –i silent -DACCEPT_EULA=YES

You may also call a properties response file from the command line by typing:

[InstallerName] –i silent –f “[FullPath]\PSIM2024.0_installer.properties” -

DACCEPT_EULA=YES

An example of running a silent install using a properties response file located in C:\ResponseFiles

called PSIM 2024.0 installer.properties on Windows:

PSIM2024.0_win64.exe –i silent –f "C:\ResponseFiles\PSIM2024.0_installer.properties" -

DACCEPT_EULA=YES

Note: Use quotes around any directory and pathnames that may contain spaces
