Guidelines for Catechists
• Teachers shall report to church latest by 7.50 am, in time to greet the children. Also, ensure the classroom is ready.
• Teachers should come prepared for class according to the 4-step method and carry along a Bible.
• The class calendar is to be planned in coordination with the co-teachers and must be followed diligently. The same
needs to be submitted to the lay coordinator for records in the template provided latest by 30th June 2024. Std 5/6;
7/8; 9 to follow the same class calendar across all divisions to ensure alignment.
• Catechists to be well-groomed and modestly dressed for class.
• Co-teachers shall be present for each class even if one is not taking the class. In case of non-attendance kindly
inform your standard head, co-teacher, and the lay coordinator well in advance.
• Teachers must be present for meetings after mass; We would like to hear what you have to say. In case of non-
attendance, kindly inform the standard head and lay coordinator.
• Class attendance sheet should be maintained regularly. Connect with students and parents in case of irregular
attendance; Such cases may be highlighted to the lay coordinator for further intervention. Children with 90% and
above attendance will be awarded during the Annual day.
• Prayer of the Faithful must be pre-approved by the concerned priest celebrating the Children’s mass or by the
liturgy head latest by Thursday. Lectors must come appropriately dressed and should be well-versed with the
reading. Practices can be conducted on Tuesday and Saturday inside the church. Two typed copies of Prayer of the
Faithful should be kept ready and placed in a plastic sheet.
• In case of the use of any audio-visual aids, especially the church laptop/ projector/ speaker, kindly inform the AV
head in advance.
• Any class inviting an external resource speaker must be pre-approved by the lay coordinator two weeks prior.
• All events will be budgeted during the catechetical year. Any expenses incurred by a catechist shall be reimbursed
against invoice by the finance head at the weekly meeting.
• Please make sure to collaborate with your co-teachers when choosing events for the year. This way, one teacher
can focus on preparing for class while the other is engaged in the event.
• In case of any concerns, catechists are free to approach their standard head and the lay coordinator for support.
