Collector House / Required Maintenance
Collector ring/brush maintenance
• Only qualified maintenance personnel should be maintaining the • Excitation Systems can put a low voltage signal on collectors
collector system even off-line
• Use the proper PPE; at a minimum eye, hearing and hand – Consider disabling system before performing maintenance
protection • Carefully consider 3rd party parts to ensure they meet
• Use insulating handle for brush removal. Do not use bare hands specifications
• Do not wear loose clothing and metallic objects such as jewelry • Check for hydrogen leakage
• Be aware of location hazards: tripping, oily/wet – Ensure levels are below LEL before maintaining
floors etc.
• Check for field ground conditions
• Do not perform online maintenance if grounds
are present

GEK 111680 Updates in Rev D
GE Vernova has updated our risk assessment for solid or unbored rotors.
Unbored rotors have fewer NDT requirements that similar bored rotors; however, unbored impulse
rotors are not maintenance-free as they age
Rotors are engineered with a damage-tolerant or safe-life approach, assuming material properties
and a finite quantity and severity of:
– Start-stop cycles
– Load changes
– Accumulated exposure
Operation outside these conditions, or within these parameters for a time period longer than
planned introduces risk.
Inspection intervals are set to detect issues prior to them preventing a limited return to service.

Availability
• Sold in ’23 to customer (2 units) in Europe 9F fleet
• Reduced risk of forced outages. as well as in operation on two
• Outage intervals from 25kEOH to 50kEOH. units in GE convensional fleet.
• Start penalty from 50EOH to 25EOH. • Requires no control SW modifications (plug &
play) – base for NGV going forward.
