DEFINITION OF WARNING, CAUTION, AND NOTE
This manual includes safety precautions for protecting the user and preventing
damage to the machine. Precautions are classified into WARNING and CAUTION
according to their bearing on safety. Also, supplementary information is described as
a NOTE. Read the WARNING, CAUTION, and NOTE thoroughly before attempting
to use the machine.

WARNING
Applied when there is a danger of the user being injured or when there
is a danger of both the user being injured and the equipment being
damaged if the approved procedure is not observed.

CAUTION
Applied when there is a danger of the equipment being damaged, if the
approved procedure is not observed.

NOTE
The Note is used to indicate supplementary information other than
Warning and Caution.

1 INTRODUCTION
About this operator's manual (SETUP)
This manual describes about installation and license (Hardware Key) of "CNC
GUIDE".

About the product composition

CNC GUIDE is an application for operating the CNC that runs on a personal
computer.
The following products are provided.

2 OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
Using this product requires the environment described below.

OS: following any OS


Windows 8.1 Pro ( 32bit, 64bit )
Windows 10 ( 32bit, 64bit ) Version 2004 or higher
• The hardware key may not be recognized or CNC GUIDE may not work
properly in the remote desktop environment, VPN environment and
virtual environment.
If you use CNC GUIDE in the remote desktop environment, VPN
environment and virtual environment, you use it on your own risk.
And the following package
.NET Framework 2.0/.NET Framework 3.5
CPU: Intel Core i3 or higher
Memory: 4GB or greater
Free hard disk space: 8.0GB or greater
Display resolution: 1280 x 1024 ( SXGA ) or higher resolution
(Recommended 1920*1080(Full-HD) or higher resolution)
DVD drive
USB port

• Microsoft, Windows, and .NET Framework are registered trademarks of Microsoft


Corporation in the United States.
• Intel Core is registered trademarks of Intel Corporation in the United States.

NOTE
Only one CNC GUIDE can start at the same computer.
You can acquire the .NET Framework installer from the website
of Microsoft Corporation.
For information on how to install it, see Chapter 3, "Installation
and Un-installation".

3 INSTALLATION AND UN-INSTALLATION


This chapter explains how to install CNC GUIDE and its attached programs in your
personal computer, as well as how to uninstall them from it.
Installation does not require the supplied hardware key.

NOTE
1 The privilege of Administrators is required to install/uninstall
the CNC GUIDE.
2 If the CNC GUIDE (Software license) has been already
installed, the CNC GUIDE (Software license) is uninstalled and
replaced with CNC GUIDE (hardware key).User data (machine
composition data, configuration file) is not replaced.
3 If the CNC GUIDE of Normal version has been already installed,
the CNC GUIDE of Normal version is uninstalled and replaced
with CNC GUIDE of Academic package.User data (machine
composition data, configuration file) is not replaced.
4 Do not insert the hardware key in the PC until the installation of
CNC GUIDE is finished.
5 CNC GUIDE and CNC GUIDE 2 cannot be installed and used at
the same time.
6 If the CNC GUIDE 2 has been already installed, the CNC GUIDE
2 is uninstalled and replaced with CNC GUIDE.
User data (machine composition data, configuration file) is not
replaced.
7 Do not use data with CNC GUIDE 2 sepecific features in CNC
GUIDE.
8 Please do not install CNC GUIDE in the PC that the following
software installs.
・CNC Simulator (A08B-9010-J720#ZZ11)
・PMC Simulator (A08B-9210-J530#ZZ11)
・ManualGuide i Simulator (A08B-9010-J540#ZZ11)
Please do the following work before installing the CNC GUIDE
when these software is installed.
(a)The CNC Simulator, the PMC Simulator, and ManuGuide i
Simulator are uninstalled.
(b)SSDCleanupx64.exe or SSDCleanup.exe is executed.
(in \Setup\driver\Cleanup\1.1
or \Setup\driver\Cleanup\1.2.0.5)
(c)The CNC GUIDE is installed.

3.1 INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1 Preparation prior to installation

1-1 Before installation, see chapter 2, "OPERATING ENVIRONMENT" to


check the environment of the computer being used.

2 Starting the installer

2-1 If any programs are running, exit them.

2-2 Set the disk in the DVD drive. Windows automatically starts installation.

2-3 If Windows does not automatically start installation, click [Start Menu] -
[Run]. Type the following in the Open field, and then click <OK>
(DVD drive name):\AutoRun.exe

2-4 When the window of user account control is displayed, click <Yes>.

2-5 Installation of .NET Framework 3.5 screen is displayed. Click <Download


and install this feature>. When the installation is completed, click <Close>.

If the installation is failed due to something like an offline
state, see the url below, and please install .NET

3 Starting setup of CNC GUIDE

3-1 CNC GUIDE installer starts.


After the following window is displayed, click <OK>.

In this procedure, the windows that appear during installation of the normal
version are used for description. Install the academic package in the same
manner.

3-3 Input the User name and Organization, and click <Next>.

3-4 Specify the installation folder, and click <Next>.

NOTE
1. Do not install it in root folder (\).
2. Do not use double-byte character set (Chinese character,
katakana, and Korean character, etc.) for the folder name.

3-5 Select the type of the setup. When all models are installed, select
"Complete". When the model is selected, select "Custom", and click
<Next>.

3-6 Select the model and the function to install on "Custom setup" window, and
click <Next>.

3-7 When the preparation is completed, the following window is displayed, and
click <Install>.

<Finish>.

NOTE
When CNC GUIDE is installed, the driver for using the
hardware key is also installed at the same time.

These folders cannot be referred to in the state of default, and set the following,
please.

1. Start [Explorer], and then Click <View>.

3. Click <View> tab,and then [Hidden files and folders] in [Folder Options] is set as
follows.

3.3 UNINSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1 Terminating CNC GUIDE

1-1 CNC GUIDE cannot be uninstalled while it is running. Exit CNC GUIDE
and then uninstall it.

2 Starting the uninstaller

2-1 Click <Settings> in the Start menu.

NOTE
The privilege of Administrators is required to uninstall the CNC
GUIDE.

2-2 <Windows Settings> starts. Click [Apps].

2-3 [Apps & features] screen is displayed.


Select <CNC GUIDE>, and then click <Uninstall>.

3 Confirming un-installation

3-1 A dialog box is displayed, asking whether you really want to uninstall the
program. Select <Uninstall>.

3-2 The confirmation screen of the user account control is displayed, and click
<Yes>.

3-3 The installed files, folders, and start menu items are deleted.
Un-installation then ends.

NOTE
1 The USB driver, Sentinel Protection Installer should be
separately uninstalled.
2 A part of setting file folder is not uninstalled.

The operating procedure of installation for update of CNC GUIDE is as follows.

1. Saving of machine composition setting data

CNC GUIDE is installed in the following folders by default.

The created machine composition setting data is saved in the folder.


Select the necessary files of machine composition, and save them in another folder
temporarily.
For instance, to save the data of machine composition name “1path-3axis-M”, save
the folder “1path-3axis-M” and the files of all extensions to which the file name
“1path-3axis-M” is given as shown in the following figure.

2. Installation of new CNC GUIDE

Install the latest version of CNC GUIDE using the "CNC GUIDE (Update)" or
"CNC GUIDE Academic Package (Update)" DVD.
At this time, the CNC GUIDE of the installed old version is automatically
uninstalled.

3. Restoration of the machine composition setting data

After installation of the latest version, restore the saved machine composition
setting data saved in procedure 1 to the MachineSetting folder.

5.LICENSE

5 LICENSE

5.1 HARDWARE KEY

To use CNC GUIDE, the hardware key you have purchased is required.
The key is used for confirming your license.
There are following two types of hardware keys for the academic package.
・ Single-user license
・ Multi-user license

You can execute CNC GUIDE on only the PC that acquires the license from the
hardware key.

Single-user license

NOTE
1. Please set the date of PC correctly.
CNC GUIDE might not be able to be used if the date of PC is
illegal.
2. If you use the hardware key of multi-user license, please set the
same date for the license server PC and a PC that executes
CNC GUIDE.

5.1.1 Single-user license

The CNC GUIDE can be start with Single-user license by PC which is inserted the
hardware key.

The CNC GUIDE of Single-user license has following products.

5.1.1.1 Expiration date of CNC GUIDE Academic package

The CNC GUIDE Academic package has Expiration date.


The expiry date is 1 year since beginning the hardware key.
Only first time, when the hardware key is inserted, and the CNC GUIDE is started,
the dialog for the following confirmations is displayed.

1. The following notes are displayed.


Please peruse the content. To move the next screen, click the Agree button.
For the start of CNC GUIDE is interrupting, click CNC GUIDE End button.

The message displayed in this dialog is as follows.

Please read the following notes, and click "Agree" if you agree it.

Use notes of the CNC GUIDE Academic package for Homework

1.This hardware key expires 1 year after the start of using.


2.The CNC GUIDE cannot be started with this hardware key which is expired.
3.Please confirm whether the date of the PC is correct before the CNC GUIDE begins.
4.When the date of this PC is incorrect, the operation of the CNC GUIDE is not secured.
In that case, the CNC GUIDE might not be able to be used.

This message is displayed only first time by the use of the hardware key.

1. A now date of the PC is confirmed by the next dialog.


When the setting at the date is correct, click Yes button.
When the setting at the date is not correct, click No button, and the start of the
CNC GUIDE is interrupted.

5.1.2 Multi-user license

The CNC GUIDE can be started with Multi-user license at the same time with two or
more personal computers. the license is acquired from the personal computer (License
Server) that installs the hardware key by way of the network.
Also, only one CNC GUIDE can be started simultaneously on one PC or server.

The License Server needs to install License Server Software.

5.1.2.1 Environment

The PC for a license server requires the environment described below.

About the license server


1. It is necessary to set the unchanging IP address.
The personal computer that dynamically sets IP address by using DHCP etc.
cannot be used as a license server.

About the network


1. When the firewall software other than the Windows firewall are effective, the
license demand by the personal computer that executes the CNC GUIDE might
not be accepted.

2. When these communications cannot be done by the firewall software and


Switching hub, etc. , the function concerning the network license cannot be used.
In that case, please confirm the setting such as the switching hubs to
communicate.

3. The personal computer that executes the license server and the CNC GUIDE
should be in the same network segment.

Confirmation of IP address

IP address of the license server can be confirmed according to the following


procedures.

1. [Start menu] – [accessories] – [command prompt] is clicked.

2. The following command is executed on the displayed command prompt.

C:\> ipconfig

3. The value of "IP Address" is IP address set to the PC.

5.1.2.2 Installation of software for license server

The hardware key driver and the software for respond to the acquisition of the license
are installed in the personal computer for the license server.

1 Starting the installer


1-1 If any programs are running, exit them.
1-2 Set the disk in the DVD drive.
1-3 The following setup is executed.
(DVD drive name):\Setup\driver\Sentinel Protection Installer 7.6.9.exe

5.2 LICENSE SETTING

You set which the hardware key to use from Single-user license or Multi-user license.
The Single-user license is set immediately after the installation of the CNC GUIDE.
When you use the Multi-user license, it is necessary to set one of the following tools.
・ License Key Setting Tool
・ Setting Management Tool

5.2.1 License Key Setting Tool

5.2.1.1 Starting and exiting

From the start menu, click [ FANUC CNC GUIDE( FS0i-D / FS0i-F / FS0i-F Plus /

5.2.1.2 Setting

IP address of the license server is set on the PC that executes CNC GUIDE with this
tool.

1. The license key setting tool is started.

2. "Authenticate it with to the license server" is turned on.

4. Click "Diagnosis" button, and it is confirmed to communicate with the license


server.
Please confirm “5.3 Troubleshootings” when becoming an error.

5.2.2 Setting Management Tool

5.2.2.1 Starting and Exiting

In Start menu, click [FANUC CNC GUIDE(TOOLs) ] – [Setting Management Tool],


then CNC GUIDE Setting Management Tool starts.
Even if CNC GUIDE isn’t executing, CNC GUIDE Setting Management Tool is
available.

When CNC GUIDE Setting Management Tool has started, the following screen is

Click the [License] tab, then the following screeen is displayed.

When you use CNC GUIDE by the hardware key of Multi-user license, set IP address
of the license server in above screen.

To exit, click the Close(C) button or [File(F)] – [Exit(X)] in the menu.

Setting procedures
Set IP address of the license server by CNC GUIDE Setting Management Tool on PC
on which CNC GUIDE is executed.

1 Start CNC GUIDE Setting Management Tool, and display the license
authentication screen.

2 Check the check box [Authenticate it with to the license server].

3 Set IP address of the license server.

4 Click the Diagnosis(D) button, and confirm that the communication with the
license server has been established.
Please confirm the setting of the network (setting of the firewall software and
the hub, etc.) when an error occurs.

5 Click the Save(S) button or [File(F)] – [Save(S)] in the menu, and then the
setting is saved.

5.2.2.2 Deletion of Setting

The settings of the screen size and the MDI key kind, etc. cannot be done on the
operation screen of the CNC GUIDE after when this tool is started.
( The menu for the setting is not displayed.)

To be able to set from the operation screen as before, delete the following
configuration file.
“C:\ProgramData\FANUC\NCGuide_COMM\SettingManager.xml”
The contents set by this tool will be lost.
Please re-set for each model after deleting the above-mentioned configuration file.

5.3 TROUBLESHOOTINGS

When the error is displayed with "Diagnosis" button of the license key setting tool or
an effective license key is not found when the CNC GUIDE starts, the following items
are checked.

5.3.1 Confirmation of setting

A minimum setting necessary for the communication is confirmed.

NOTE
Please consult the network administrator about set values such as
IP addresses and the subnet masks.

 Confirmation of setting in license server


(1) Is IP address set?
(2) Is the subnet mask set?
(3) When the router is used, is IP address of the router set?

 Confirmation of setting of PC that executes CNC GUIDE


(1) Is IP address set?
(2) Is the subnet mask set?
(3) When the router is used, is IP address of the router set?

 Confirmation by both of PC that executes license server and CNC GUIDE


(1) Is it the same network segment?
(2) Is IPv4 used?

5.3.2 Confirmation of communication

It explains the method of confirming the communication with the PC that executes the
license server and the CNC GUIDE.
First of all, please confirm the communication route is normal by this confirm method
when you cannot communicate correctly.
"Ping" command is used for the confirmation of the communication.

The command prompt is opened, and "ping ‘IP address to be communicated‘" is
input.
The following both direction is confirmed.
- To the PC that executes the CNC GUIDE from the license server
- To the license server from the PC that executes the CNC GUIDE

NOTE
There might not be response by ping according to the setting of the
firewall or licence server.

5.3.3 Confirmation on license server

 Confirmation of the hardwarekey driver's installation

(1) "Control panel" - "Device manager" is selected.


(2) It is confirmed that “SafeNet USB SuperPro/UltraPro" is displayed in the
group of "Universal Serial Bus controller".

 Confirmation of start of software for license server

(1) "Control panel" - "Administration tool" - "Service" is selected.


(2) "SentinelProtectionServer" is found from the service list.
(3) When the state is not "Start", it is confirmed to obtain Authentication of the
CNC GUIDE after "Operation menu" - "Start" is executed.

(4) When the state is "Start", it is confirmed to obtain Authentication of the CNC
GUIDE after "Operation menu" - "ReStart" is executed.

 Confirmation of UDP6001 port opening

(1) The following command is executed from the command prompt screen on the
license server.

C:\> netstat -an

(2) It is confirmed that the following line is displayed in the execution result of the
command.

UDP 127.0.0.1:6001 *:*
・・・
UDP (My IP Address):6001 *:*
・・・

(3) It is in the state that the personal computer that executes the CNC GUIDE can
be accessed to the license server when this line is displayed.
Please review the setting of software for the license server and the setting of the
firewall when this line is not displayed.

5.3.4 Reinstalling the license key driver software

When CNC GUIDE/CNC GUIDEPro is installed in PC in which software that uses


the license key made by SafeNet Inc. has already been installed, the license key might
not be able to be recognized correctly.
In that case, all the driver software of a version old according to the following
procedures 1 is uninstalled.
Afterwards, the driver software is reinstalled according to procedure 2.
At this time, CNC GUIDE/CNC GUIDEPro is not uninstalled.

Procedure 1:Uninstallation of old driver software for license key

1. The CNC GUIDE/CNC GUIDEPro is terminated, and the license key is removed
from the PC.
2. Setup CD is inserted in the CD drive. In the following explanations, it explains as
E drive.
3. Cleanup tool that deletes driver software for license key

To install only the driver software for the license key without executing Setup of the
CNC GUIDE/CNC GUIDEPro, the following procedures are executed.
1. The following file is executed, “E:\Setup\driver\ Sentinel System Driver Installer
7.5.0.exe”
2. The installation is executed according to the wizard.
3. In “Setup Type”, “Complete” is selected.
4. When the installation ends, the PC is rebooted.
